Russell Channels Hannibal Lecter and Jason Busts A Cap… Review: True Blood “In the Beginning”

I keep expecting to be wowed by the newest episode of True Blood, yet all I feel is regret and confusion. So why I am still watching? Why are you?

Has Matt Become A Has-Been? Review: Episodes – “Episode 4”

The ludicrousness of Carole (Kathleen Rose Perkins) comforting Merc (John Pankow) while he sits on the toilet stressing over the latest ratings for his network sets the tone of this brilliantly written episode of Episodes, especially when the scene ends with the sound of a single, solitary dump. Way to start the funny from the get go! But what’s a network producer to do when the show he was counting on for big ratings is a failure?

Genie in a Bottle. Review: Lost Girl – “Midnight Lamp”

You might recall that he previously gave her a gold bracelet at her birthday party but didn’t explain who it was from. In “Midnight Lamp,” it ends up being a good weapon of defense against an adoration-feeding Fae named Sadie (played by Lauren Holly, who is virtually unrecognizable in this role).

Stuck in a cell, shot, and tied to a dashboard. Review: White Collar – “Most Wanted”

In what I believe may result in one of the best seasons of the show thus far, White Collar has kept the storyline of its highly entertaining characters fresh and moving with the twists and turns of “Most Wanted.” In the season opener, Neal Caffrey (Matt Bomer) was a wanted man, hiding out, on the run, and hoping to reinvent himself so thoroughly even the most tenacious of federal agents wouldn’t be able to catch him. Unfortunately, it seems the luck he’s banked on to keep him just out of karma’s reach isn’t with him.

The Future’s So Bright… Review: Lost Girl – “Barometz. Trick. Pressure”

I assumed all of those heads in his treasure chest were part of some sick collection, but turns out, he’s been fighting the Garuda (Raoul Trujillo), a creature that’s hell bent on destroying all Fae. Oh, lordy.

Review: True Blood “Hopeless” And That Was Russell At Half Capacity?!

If you ever wanted to play a drinking game while watching True Blood, “Hopeless” is the episode for you!

How to Curry Favor with Your Boss When His Father Dies. Review: Episodes – “Episode 203”

After having a stroke and being in a coma for a month, Merc’s (John Pankow) father dies. Unbelievably, everyone tries to one up each other in a race to incur Merc’s good will.

Papayas, Sandcastles, and Friendship. Review: White Collar – “Wanted”

Tucked away on a non-extradition island with Mozzie (Willie Garson) by his side, Neal has assumed a new alias, a new persona, and a whole new look. And I have to say, island living looks good on our favorite fedora-wearing conman.

Vomit, Sookie Sarcasm and Baby Vamp Fights… Review: True Blood “Let’s Boot and Rally”

I will give it to you, writers of True Blood, you made me laugh with the opening scene of “Let’s Boot and Rally.” I almost thought this would be another one of those episodes which makes me question my sanity, but I think I get it now.

Arisen. Review: Lost Girl – “Masks”

I love how Bo automatically looks to Dyson (Kris Holden-Ried) now to be her sidekick in practically every situation. Now that they’re friends, they can rely on each other in pretty much every way.

Crushed. Review: Lost Girl – “Can’t See the Fae-Rest”

Meeting Maganda (Pamela Matthews) for the first time, she appears to be a homeless woman—a benign character who explains to Bo the meaning of her name (“pretty of the forest”). Once it’s known she’s the killer, you can’t help but feel her sorrow and empathize with her. She is a Batibat, a tree Fae who’s lost her tree home as a result of it being cut into pieces to be sold as decorative items. If you lost your home, wouldn’t you do anything to get it back?

How Do You Make People Realize They Need Help? Review: Necessary Roughness – “Slumpbuster”

TK (Mehcad Brooks) is practicing as hard and as much as he can but his leg still hurts. And, he won’t discuss the shooting with Dr. Dani Santino (Callie Thorne), which she thinks is the root of his problems. Matt (Marc Blucas) thinks he has the answer to TK’s dilemma by virtue of a professional masseuse named Simone (Sharon Gee), while Dani deals with baseball’s MVP Edmond Gonzo’s (Adam Rodriguez) problem with his “slumpbuster,” Denise (Lindsay Hollister). In the meantime, Marshall Pittman (Evan Handler) and estranged wife Gabrielle “Gabby” (Liz Vassey) argue over team ownership. With all involved, there’s a central theme—needing help but not knowing it.

Why Would a Football Player Downplay His Skills? Review: Necessary Roughness – “Wide Deceiver”

TK (Mehcad Brooks) is now living with his long-time friend, Zetti (Mekia Cox); Ray Jay (Patrick Johnson) has suddenly become vegan; and Marshall Pittman (Evan Handler) is making his voice heard as the new GM of the Hawks. How easily things can change when one isn’t looking.

I Confess…I’m Displeased. Review: The Borgias, S2 Finale “The Confession”

As finales go, I’m not happy with how things have ended. It was lackluster, and there wasn’t really a buildup to the bloody cliffhanger. Will the Pope survive? And now that Cesare has been released from his Cardinal vows, what will he do? I feel unsatisfied but, thankfully, still hungry for The Borgias.

Advance Review: Anger Management, S1 E1/E2 – “Charlie Goes Back to Therapy” and “Charlie and the Slumpbuster”

If Anger Management can keep up the level of hilarity in future episodes, FX will definitely have another hit on its hands. All I can tell you is you need to watch this show because if you don’t, you’ll be missing out on one of the funniest sitcoms in recent history! The acting and comedic timing are spot on, the dialogue is witty, clever, and sharp, and the chemistry among the actors is perfection.

So The Authority Sucks, Right? Review: True Blood – “Authority Always Wins”

We finally meet The Authority and I have to admit, I’m not too impressed. This group of vampires is varied to be sure, but what exactly is their plan for their vampire infested world?

Don’t Drink the Beer! Review: Lost Girl – “Original Skin”

Seeing Kenzi show off her new Alexander McQueen-type shoes and doing a faux “Riverdance” should’ve snapped Bo out of it but dragging her away from the book to “change into someone else” proved to do the trick. Wasn’t Bo rocking those bangs, looking like a 50s biker chick?

Did You Guess Rosie’s Killer? Review: Season 2 Finale of The Killing – “What I Know”

So yeah, the big reveal doesn’t go down the way I thought it would. I didn’t cry although I came pretty darned close to it. *shaking my finger* Very sneaky, writers. You almost made me dislike this episode. You got me good, though. You got me good.

A Birth, A Death and A Firing. Review: Season Finale of Nurse Jackie – “Handle Your Scandal”

As season finales go, “Handle Your Scandal” knocks it out of the park! Talk about a cliffhanger! Major changes take place—some good, some not so good. Dr. Cruz (Bobby Cannavale) fires Jackie (Edie Falco)—yes, you heard me right!—Jackie takes Grace (Ruby Jerins) out of Catholic school; and Dr. O’Hara (Eve Best) goes into labor. It’s just another day at All Saints, right? NOT!

Family Stress, A Roller Derby Queen, a New GM. Review: Necessary Roughness, S2 E2 – “To Swerve and Protect”

Dr. Dani Santini (Callie Thorne) has her hands full in “To Swerve and Protect.” Not only must she help TK (Mehcad Brooks) conquer his fears, her son Ray Jay (Patrick Johnson) wants to “do it here” with his tutor/girlfriend Olivia (Megann Fahy). Plus, Dani has a new patient, Grace Denise Charleston (Alicia Ziegler), known as DisGrace Kelly on the roller derby circuit, who collapsed on the rink after smelling a suspicious odor.

Not Your Run-of-the-Mill Zombies Your Mama Told You About. Review: Lost Girl – “Death Didn’t Become Him”

Nadia drifts further and further away, driving Lauren straight into Bo’s arms. While Bo cares about her, Lauren loves her more. And you know how those relationships work out.

We’re So Close To Finding The Killer! Review: The Killing “Donnie or Marie”

Ah… so there’s more than meets the eye when it comes to solving this murder. I swear, every time we take a step forward… well, you know.

Review: True Blood “Turn, Turn, Turn” Back The Clock. I Miss The Good Ol’ Days.

You can’t expect me to be entertained by a few snarky remarks and a quick flash of skin here and there. That’s not what True Blood is about (or at least it wasn’t). But maybe that’s the point.

Season Finale Review: Veep “Tears” Four More Years of This?

I’m looking forward to what the new season will bring. Sort of. I’m willing to give Veep a second chance.

God Returns and Chaos is Everywhere. Review: Nurse Jackie – “Are Those Feathers?”

With Eddie (Paul Schulze) and Gloria (Anna Deavere Smith) being fired last week, the nurses at All Saints are wearing commemorative arm bands and have set up a collection jar on their behalf. I’m not sure whether Dr. Cruz (Bobby Cannavale) is stressed or if he’s just plain spiteful when he demands they get rid of the jar and “lose the arm bands. No one died.” I’d like to say his Hitler-esque behavior is stress-induced, but I honestly think the man is callous and cruel. Looks like everyone needs to stay on their best behavior if they want to keep their jobs.
