She made me giggle when she freaks out to Bo about unexpectedly winning a science research award, telling her a cute but lame joke: “Why do chemists like nitrates? Because they’re cheaper than day rates.” Like Bo, I didn’t get the joke right away, either, but Palmer’s delivery was spot on. Now that The Dawning is happening, will Bo have time for Lauren?

We do learn why she ended up at Briarcliff but a deeper exploration of her background would’ve fleshed out her character more. I suspect, though, the writers have placed more import on the main characters now that American Horror Story: Asylum is drawing to a close.
