Will Lauren be able to overcome her insecurities in her relationship with Bo?

Now that Lauren (Zoie Palmer) and Bo (Anna Silk) have discussed the parameters of their relationship, we find them at the Dal, scouting for potential boinking mates (“…so many coital requirements”). It’s a veritable smorgasbord for Bo, and she delights in it. Not so for Lauren, who tries her best not to show her insecurity, but Bo has the wherewithal to be guarded about her lust. It irked me when Lauren reiterates to Bo there’s to be no coupling with Dyson (Kris Holden-Ried). She’s right to feel threatened by him because she knows Bo has strong feelings for him, and they haven’t exactly abated. Neither woman knows Dyson is back to his normal self; I don’t think the writers plan for this to happen anytime soon, as the Bo and Lauren affair will be front and center for a while.

What’s up with Kenzi’s odd behavior?

And now we have to worry about Kenzi (Ksenia Solo). At the end of last week’s episode, we saw her being dragged into the darkness and now, in “Faes Wide Shut,” she’s not acting quite like the normally ebullient, effervescent Kenzi. Rather, she’s jealous and conniving, feeding misinformation to Bo and Lauren to get them to doubt each other. Sure, I’d be annoyed with the relentless “knocking bits” if I were Bo’s roommate (“It just keeps going, like a Grateful Dead jam”). And, with Lauren always there? That’d bug me, too. But when Kenzi barges in on Bo quenching her hunger with a naked woman (a Fae, no less), it feels odd.

Kenzi: “I found a total amazeballs case for us.”

Bo: “Maybe a topic for conversation at a more non-naked time, Kenzi.”

**

Kenzi: “Duty before booty.”

**

Bo: “Kenzi, you hate casinos or, as you call them, amateur hour for suckers.”

Kenzi: “I say a lot of crazy things, but at least I’m loyal.”

**

But count on Bo to always have Kenzi’s back. She may be preoccupied with Lauren right now, but she’s on to Kenzi’s unusual behavior by the end of “Faes Wide Shut.” Did you know Kenzi’s allergic to peanuts?

The episode, taking its cue from the film Eyes Wide Shut, takes us into the sleazy underground sex club owned by Roman, where Bo finds herself at home but not so easily accepted into the graces of the Bacchus. The storyline about the human goo and Roman the Bacchus (Damon Runyan) feeding off a Manta, some bizarre UnderFae, takes a backseat to personal relationships in “Faes Wide Shut.”

Dyson and Tamsin suspect Bo might be behind a Fae murder

With a string of Fae deaths not far from Bo’s place, Dyson figures out Bo might be killing Fae without being fully aware of it. I like how he always gives Bo the benefit of the doubt but now there’s a bigger problem: the Darkness inside Bo. It comes out when she battles Roman and his men, and Lauren, attempting to be the heroine of the story, tries to appeal to Bo’s human side, recalling the moment they first met, they first touched. This scene sort of made me cringe, seeing such desperation in Lauren and, in some ways, it felt contrived. I did like, however, seeing Bo with glaring blue eyes and talking in a growling voice. Silk clearly enjoys Bo’s Dark Fae moments, and it seems like Bo is itching to go full-on Dark Fae. Wouldn’t it be a cool storyline if she turned Dark, with Dyson battling to bring her back? I expect him to continue to play a huge part in Bo’s life, even if Lauren refuses to allow it.

Stay tuned for next week’s episode when we find out what’s wrong with Kenzi, and who Lauren called about Bo going Dark side!
