Tyrant – “State of Emergency” Retrospective. Terrorists Come in All Sizes.

Overall, “State of Emergency” is a good episode that delves further into character development, giving us a good look at what makes these people tick. It’s nice to see the brothers Al-Fayeed getting along so well, especially now that Bassam has decided to stay in Abbudin for the near future. I can’t wait to find out what Molly has to say about that. Will she, daughter Emma (Anne Winters), and son Sammy (Noah Silver) want to stay with Bassam, or will they leave him there and return to the States? If Sammy has anything to say about it, I’m sure he’ll opt to stay as he still has his eye on Abdul (Mehdi Dehbi). I smell trouble ahead.

Suits – “Two in the Knees” Retrospective. Surrogate Son.

Tensions grow between Harvey (Gabriel Macht) and Mike (Patrick J Adams) as the maneuvering to gain control over Walter Gillis’ (Michael Gross) company continues. As the fight intensifies between the two former colleagues, the line between black and white becomes grayer. Can their friendship find its way back to where it once was or are the two heading for destruction?

Graceland Conference Call with Brandon Jay McLaren

On June 19, 2014, during a conference call, I spoke with Brandon Jay McLaren, one of the stars of Graceland, which recently started its second season on USA Network. McLaren plays Dale “DJ” Jakes, an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent.

Tyrant Series Premiere – “Pilot” Spoiler-Free Review. Just When He Thought He Was Out…

Given the success of many FX television series, I was very much anticipating the series premiere of FX’s newest political drama, Tyrant. Since I have already reviewed two other political dramas, Showtime’s Homeland and FX’s The Americans, I figured this was right up my proverbial alley. Lucky me, I was given the first four episodes for review purposes.

Graceland Conference Call with Star Vanessa Ferlito

When I reviewed the pilot for the USA network show Graceland, I had less than flattering things to say about Vanessa Ferlito’s role as Charlie. Since then, her role as an undercover FBI agent has evolved and Charlie has become a force to be reckoned with. On June 6, 2014 I spoke with Ferlito about Graceland and what she is excited for the fans to see this season.

Graceland – “Baggage” Advance Review. Homecoming.

Graceland returns for season two on Wednesday, June 11, and quickly hits the ground running. When we last saw FBI agent Mike Warren (Aaron Tveit), he was in Washington D.C. working as the special assistant to the deputy director. Taking down Bellow (Gbenga Akinnagbe) last season made Mike a rock star within the FBI but Mike quickly realizes he can only ride the Bellow wave for so long.

Edge of Tomorrow Review, Photos, and Promo. You Can’t Keep a Good Man Dead.

Edge of Tomorrow is a great blockbuster action movie that is visually stunning, entertaining summer fare that reminded me of a video game. Kids especially will enjoy the flick for that reason alone. After all, what kid playing a video game doesn’t want a do over when his player is killed so he can get it right?

The Night Shift – “Second Chances” Spoiler-Free Advance Review. M.A.S.H. Meets Royal Pains

The Night Shift is full of witty dialogue, doctors and nurses who work hard and play hard (check out their rooftop lounge!), fun banter, social commentary on the state of the bureaucratic handling of hospitals, and edge-of-your-seat medical drama. It’s intense, gripping, and fun to watch.

The Americans Season Finale – “Echo” Retrospective. It’s Never Who You Think It Is.

“Echo” begins with a heart-racing scene as Golden Earring’s “When the Bullet Hits the Bone” plays in the background. Emotions run high in this season finale as Philip (Matthew Rhys) and Elizabeth (Keri Russell) deal with Paige (Holly Taylor); Stan (Noah Emmerich) decides what to do about Nina (Annet Mahendru); and finally, the Connors’ murderer is revealed. If you’ve read my review of “Operation Chronicle,” I totally saw that coming!

The Vampire Diaries: “Home” Season Finale Review. Where Death Never Dies.

“Home” is the episode where we get to see all of the characters gone but not forgotten. So they come back, we rejoice, and someone important dies in their place.

The Originals – “From a Cradle to a Grave” Season Finale Review. Now This Is A Finale!

This is, by far, the best episode of The Originals to date. It packs a major punch and does exactly what a good season finale is supposed to do.

The Americans – “Operation Chronicle” Review. Operation Jared.

As penultimate episodes go, “Operation Chronicle” hits it out of the park. The writing is fantastic, the acting superb, and it sets up the season finale perfectly, giving its audience plenty to think about and many questions to be answered.

The Vampire Diaries – “Promised Land” Review. Two Steps Forward…You Know The Rest

The Vampire Diaries (TVD) hits a snag with “Promised Land.” Truth: I was bored through three-quarters of the episode. Truth: I may have watched “Promised Land” three times because I couldn’t figure out what was going on. Truth: I’m curious about the direction of the Traveler storyline but no longer care as much as I did.

The Originals – “The Battle of New Orleans” Review. Biting Off More Than You Can Chew.

One minor inconsistency in a sea of awesomeness doesn’t ruin “The Battle of New Orleans.” Next week’s finale will certainly be a catch-22 for me.

The Tomorrow People: “Son of Man” Review. It’s The End of the World, blah, blah, blah…

As a season finale, “Son of Man” falls flat. I was expecting more shock and awe.

The Americans – “Stealth” Review. They’re Getting Closer.

This week’s installment of The Americans delves further into the technology needed for the stealth program, and the lengths the Russians will go to obtain it. In addition, Philip (Matthew Rhys) finds out the FBI knows about the Connors, and also learns Stan (Noah Emmerich) has interviewed the Connors’ son Jared (Owen Campbell). This doesn’t bode well for Philip and Elizabeth (Keri Russell), now does it? And let’s not forget, Larrick (Lee Tergesen) is still lurking about. He’s a very dangerous man.

The Vampire Diaries – “What Lies Beneath” Review. Purgatory Schmurgatory.

The peeps of Mystic Falls have a battle ahead of them. Who are you rooting for?

Nestor Serrano and Brit Morgan join GRACELAND

USA Network has announced that Nester Serrano and Britt Morgan have joined the cast of Graceland. Graceland returns June 11, at 10/9c

The Originals – “A Closer Walk With Thee” Review. Who Can A Human Trust?

Family remains a major theme of The Originals and it’s more evident now than ever. Fathers and their sons … good thing Klaus will have a daughter to dote on.

The Americans – “Yousaf” Review. They’re Getting Closer.

“Yousaf” leaves its viewers with many questions, and to me, that is one of the hallmarks of a good episode. The episode provokes you to question people’s motives, elicits feelings you didn’t know you had, and is wonderfully written and acted.

The Tomorrow People: “Kill Switch” Review. How Times Have Changed…

Stephen, Roger, John, and Jedikiah all have new lives to lead. How will the changes bombarding them shape what’s next on their paths?

The Americans – “Martial Eagle” Review. Guilt Can Do Strange Things.

Guilt plays a large role in this week’s episode of The Americans. “Martial Eagle” is a very powerful episode, leaving you glued to the screen more than once during the 70 minutes it’s on. Things don’t go as planned for Philip (Matthew Rhys) and Elizabeth (Keri Russell) at Martial Eagle, the training camp for Nicaraguans, which has a profound effect on both of them. FBI Agent Stan Beeman (Noah Emmerich) addresses his guilt during “Martial Eagle” as well, on top of dealing with a heartbreaking turn of events with his wife Sandra (Susan Misner). Guilt can do strange things to people, as we see in this ninth installment of The Americans.

The Vampire Diaries – “Resident Evil” Review. Bizarro Mystic Falls.

Season 5, Episode 18 Air Date: Thursday, April 18, 2014 at 8/7c on The CW RATING: [rating=4] “Well, would you look at that; I think we just met the universe.” – Enzo The Vampire Diaries (TVD) takes us on what could be a nauseating trip down memory lane. In case you don’t remember the what’s and …
