Vampire Diaries: A new realm? Don’t expect a happy Mystic Falls. 2

Season 4 Highlights from Vikings – San Diego Comic Con 3

With my covering Vikings for the past four years, its evident the cast enjoys their annual visit to Comic Con. Their appearances have become one of my most anticipated events during the busy convention, and the entire cast takes the time to show their appreciation to their fans. This year, there wasn’t a formal press room but I had the opportunity to attend the panel. Here are my key highlights, and the session was so much fun that I nearly felt as if I was attending a celebration in Kattegat’s great hall.

Vikings – “The Dead” Top Five Moments. One Last Boat for Ragnar. 4

While Viking leaders debate what to do next to conquer Paris, Ragnar (Travis Fimmel) has had enough of their failed attempts. But along with this, Ragnar’s recent statements center around two interesting situations that sound like a contradiction: he announces he won’t fail in raiding Paris but also claims to be a dying man. Will a successful siege of Paris be the last thing Ragnar accomplishes or is there more to Ragnar’s plan than meets the eye?

Vikings – “Breaking Point” Top Five Moments. Rewards and the Restoration of Strength 5

After an unsuccessful attempt to take over Paris, the Vikings ponder what to do next while the French remain on alert. Yet, time doesn’t stand still in the Vikings’ universe and with a lot happening in Kattegat, Paris and Wessex, the morning daylight brings some surprising events in the Vikings’ penultimate episode, “Breaking Point.”

Vikings – “To the Gates” Top Five Moments. The Fury of a Patient Man. 6

Ever since the premiere of season three of Vikings, the show’s promos have made it clear we should expect the Northmen to raid Paris before the season finale. Personally, I’ve hardly been able to contain my anticipation for what series creator/writer Michael Hirst might have in store for us, especially since I love it when the Vikings head to new territories. But with all the ongoing buzz about Vikings, will the Paris raid turn out to be an epic moment for Ragnar (Travis Fimmel) and the Northmen, or will it be a huge bust?

As the Vikings help Princess Kwenthrith (Amy Bailey) recover her kingdom, they set up their English farming settlement; tensions that have been building up among Christians and Northmen due to their cultural and religious differences begin to flare. Only two men have a clear plan for their people’s future as well as their own: Ragnar (Travis Fimmel) and King Ecbert (Linus Roache). During “Warrior’s Fate,” it becomes clear to both men that their vision for their people isn’t shared by those in their respective inner circles.

After a tumultuous power struggle last season that culminated in Ragnar (Travis Fimmel) becoming King, he’s now more determined than ever to fulfill his dream of providing for his people. His dream is supported by Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick), and King Ecbert (Linus Roache), who delivers on his promise of providing farming lands for the Vikings, but dark clouds loom in the Wessex and Scandinavian skies. Will the religious differences between their cultures get in the way of Ragnar and Ecbert’s plans? Or will the motivations and agendas of others complicate matters between these two rulers?

Vikings - Advance Review of Season Three. A Bigger and More Complex Season 11

Vikings’ fans are probably biting their nails in anticipation of the show’s return, and I’m happy to report they are in for a real treat. The Vikings set sail seeking new adventures and with Ragnar (Travis Fimmel) and his inner circle moving up i royal circles, season three will concentrate on embarking on a more complicated journey with more complex conflicts and darker enemies. Greater power and prosperity may certainly open up opportunities but they also invite thornier challenges.

I don’t think the crow is flying straight and in a perfect line these days. Jax’s determination to avenge the murder of his wife Dr. Tara Knowles (Maggie Siff) remains as resolute as ever, but the course he is following with the MC’s help is being corrupted by ever growing lies. Will a recent kill satisfy Jax’s thirst for vengeance or are we witnessing the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the payback he has planned?

Sons of Anarchy – “Black Widower” Retrospective. False Pardons: Has there been Enough Deaths? 14

Following the violent sequence of events during Sons of Anarchy’s season six finale, “A Mother’s Work,” I wondered how emotionally charged the final season premiere would be. The last time we saw Jax (Charlie Hunnam), he was wailing after finding his beloved wife Tara (Maggie Siff) gruesomely murdered. Will Jax be able to keep his emotions in check or will his desire for revenge completely consume him, as well as the MC?
