#WhatWouldGusDo. Retrospective: Psych – “S.E.I.Z.E the Day”

When an assassin tries to kill interim police chief Harris Trout (Anthony Michael Hall), Lassiter (Timothy Omundson) vows he will catch whoever is behind it, even if it means going down in a hailstorm of bullets. But, when Marlowe (Kristy Swanson) gives Lassiter some unexpected news, his world is turned upside down, leaving his new life coach to pick up the pieces.

Not Quite The Spice Girls … Review: The Originals – “The Casket Girls”

“The Casket Girls” is all about girl power in the form of three powerful women making their stand and not taking shit from any man. But will they succeed?

As Raunchy As Ever! Advance Review: Shameless Season 4 Premiere – “Simple Pleasures”

As far as season premieres go, “Simple Pleasures” does an excellent job of making you feel like you haven’t missed one second of living with the Gallaghers as you experience all the ups and downs of their lives. It’s almost like the show hasn’t been on hiatus since last April. The episode is filled with happiness, sadness, great acting as usual, sharp and witty dialogue, and makes me wish I could watch all of this season’s episodes at once.

Grint-Grunt. Review: Psych – “Lock, Stock, Some Smoking Barrels and Burton Guster’s Goblet of Fire”

Shawn (James Roday) and Gus (Dule Hill) are called upon by Interpol to fly out to London to help with an undercover sting operation to take down one of its most wanted criminals, Ronnie Ives (Vinnie Jones). But, when they learn who is really behind their trip across the pond, they quickly wonder whether this is a ruse for something much bigger.

Spoiler Free Advance Review: Chicago P.D. – “Stepping Stone,” “Wrong Side of the Bars,” and “Chin Check.”

After watching Jason Beghe play dirty cop Hank Voigt on Chicago Fire last season, I was happily anticipating his spin-off series, Chicago P.D. (CPD). I enjoyed the tension between his character and Matthew Casey, the well-liked firefighter played by Jesse Spencer on the original series. The scenes between the two were always highly charged, and you never knew what either character was going to do. It was the stuff legendary dramatic scenes, and hopefully spin-offs, are made of. But spin-offs don’t always succeed.

Phantom of the Suck It. Review: Psych: The Musical

The success of Psych: The Musical hinges on Roday who carries the episode with a level of seriousness, giving it a legitimate feel without losing the familiar Psych humor. A lot of credit also goes to the show’s creator Steve Franks, who directed and wrote all of the songs.

What a Fun Way to Spend Christmas. Movie Review: Grudge Match

Grudge Match is one of the funniest, feel good movies I’ve seen in a while. I laughed almost from the very beginning of the movie to the very end, ranging from chuckles to good, old-fashioned belly laughs.

Stefan to the Rescue, Again… Review: The Vampire Diaries – “Fifty Shades of Grayson”

I’m not too enthused with this week’s offering of The Vampire Diaries (TVD). I hate the title of the episode, for one, and it doesn’t really move along the plot. I have to say this feels like a filler episode, and not a very good one at that.

Spoiler Free. Advance Review: Psych: The Musical

TV has a popular term called “jumping the shark;” it signifies the moment a television show starts to decline and the writers come up with a gimmick in a desperate attempt to keep viewers interested. It’s a description that fits my reaction to the announcement that Psych would be doing a two-hour musical episode.

Men Can Be Monsters Too. Review: Dracula – “Of Monsters and Men”

Tense doesn’t even begin to describe many of the scenes featured in “Of Monsters and Men.” It just gets better and better.

Book Review: Stuck by Stephanie Atkinson

Though riddled with plot holes, I enjoyed reading Stuck and would recommend it to other readers of women’s fiction.

Its Hot All Right! Movie Review – Lionsgate Films’ The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

The production department does an excellent job of bringing to life Suzanne Collins’ words almost as I depicted it in my head when reading Catching Fire.

Somebody’s Got A Secret … Review: The Tomorrow People – “Thanatos”

“Thanatos” is good in a way, yet predictable in another. I was expecting to be shocked and awed but found myself only mildly entertained.

The Ladies Rule. Review: The Originals – “Reigning Pain in New Orleans”

The Originals is living up to its potential. I continue to enjoy each new episode as it reveals something new about the Original vampires and their personalities.

There Goes the Neighborhood. Review: The Walking Dead – “Too Far Gone”

“Too Far Gone” begins with a slow burn but gradually blazes like an inferno. I didn’t expect anything that happened nor did I think I could bear to watch anymore of what transpired.

The Bonds of Friendship. Review: Dracula – “The Devil’s Waltz”

Secrets aren’t the only things Grayson/Dracula (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) is hiding. “The Devil’s Waltz” is, in a word, spectacular. Along with the mystery surrounding Renfield’s (Nonso Anozie) disappearance, there is drama, torture, and revelations of the most arresting kind. Fair warning, if you are at all squeamish, suck it up because you don’t want to miss one minute of “The Devil’s Waltz.”

The King Bites Back. Review: The Originals – “The River in Reverse”

The Originals provides another solid episode with heart-stopping action, suspense, and a plethora of unexpected events in “The River in Reverse.”

Friends Till The End… Review: The Vampire Diaries – “Dead Man on Campus”

The Vampire Diaries has started on a downward spiral. I’m not sure when it began but these latest episodes haven’t been very fulfilling.

This Isn’t the Dance. Review: The Tomorrow People – “Limbo”

The Tomorrow People takes a look at what it means to be between a rock and a hard place—not moving forward, not turning left or right, just waiting to see what happens.

The Prodigal Returns. Review: The Walking Dead – “Live Bait”

I love it when The Walking Dead has a single focused episode. “Live Bait” dissects the man behind the eye patch to show the two sides of a villain who deep down isn’t all evil.

All Shall Be Revealed… Review: Dracula – “From Darkness to Light”

I haven’t seen an episode of Dracula I didn’t like. And I’ll be honest, I don’t think I ever will.

Doppelgangers No More… Review: The Vampire Diaries – “Death and the Maiden”

I was expecting to love “Death and the Maiden” more than I did. The overwhelming emotion wrought from the characters should have been enough to engage me, but I found my attention waning at times.

Smart. Review: The Tomorrow People – “Sorry For Your Loss”

I enjoyed “Sorry For Your Loss” and glimpsing Russell’s past. I’m not sure if I like him more or less now though.

The Boys Are Back! Review: The Originals – “Bloodletting”

“Bloodletting” is yet another solid episode and proves The Originals is making its way in the vampire drama TV slot.

When It Rains… Review: The Walking Dead – “Internment”

I must decree “Internment” is an exciting, tense, and frightening episode—maybe even one of the top five best episodes. And not even because of the walkers.
