FX has closed a deal for six installments of the Untitled Chris Rock/W. Kamau Bell Late Night Show, which premieres this summer. The weekly half-hour series, from Executive Producer Chris Rock, stars standup comedian W. Kamau Bell who will dissect politics, pop culture, race, religion, the media and sex in a weekly half hour.

He’s framed for a Ba’al’s (Karl Campbell) death and, well, I’m pretty sure this is not a show where the writers kill off their main characters, like Lost or The Wire (I’m still not over the deaths of Stringer Bell and Omar). Holden-Ried does a fine snarl and growl, and I rather enjoy seeing him wolf out. I bet he enjoys it, too.

Try as I might, my interest in Smash is waning. “The Coup” is a perfect example why. The hour is filled with a lot of nonsensical things and trite storylines that do nothing for the series. For instance, Frank (Brian d’Arcy James) tries to cheer up Julia (Debra Messing) by playing Rock Guitar and singing to her. Leo (Emory Cohen) overhears his dad singing and takes it as a sign that everything is ok. Aww, isn’t that cute? How inane can one get?

As the penultimate episode of the second season of Shameless, “Just Like the Pilgrims Intended” packs a punch. It’s filled with happiness, sadness, surprises and a lot of sex. As a matter of fact, the amount of screwing that goes on in this episode is amazing.

I just have to come out and say it: I didn’t love this movie. I liked it, thought it was good in putting across the substance of Suzanne Collins’ novel, but felt some major points were left out. I wanted to love this film with a desperation you can’t understand because of my love for the novel. Sometimes things don’t always work out the way we want.

“Four Marshals and a Baby” is nothing if not entertaining. It is so much fun watching Stan (Paul Ben-Victor), Marshall (Frederick Weller) and even Susan (Mädchen Amick), a WITSEC politico, cooing to and cuddling baby Norah. Poor Mary (Mary McCormack), she’s so much better at her job than she is at parenting.

Focusing on one person, one plot per episode, works. Having all the characters doing their own thing is disjointed and isn’t entertaining.

While there are elements in “Guy Walks into a Bar” that nearly knock me on my ass with their audacity, there are also moments of mediocrity. In the end, I’m giving the episode four stars because of its surprising, bare naked ending. With the surprising ending and the mano a mano showdown between Quarles and Raylan, I really hope the last few episodes amp up the intensity and drama. Quite frankly, these little tidbits here and there are starting to piss me off.

If you haven’t heard of Vampire Mob, get with the program because you’re missing out on something special. The episodes average about five minutes in length, but don’t let that fool you. There’s plenty of comedy packed into each short.

So the day has come for the prospective investors to watch the workshop for “Marilyn: The Musical” and hopefully come up with the money necessary to take the production to Broadway. Along the way, however, there are some stumbling blocks—much like there are in real life. That’s one of the things I love about Smash. It doesn’t shy away from depicting the realities of Broadway.

“A Great Cause” is a perfect example of no matter how much things seem to change, they remain the same. Unfortunately, Fiona (Emily Rossum) learns that the hard way, as does Monica (Chloe Webb) and Sheila (Joan Cusack). We discover the surprising, but ugly truth about Mandy’s (Emma Greenwell) pregnancy, and Steve (Justin Chatwin) tries desperately to bring Estefania’s (Stephanie Fantauzzi) lover, Marco (Thierre DiCastro), to the United States.

I highly recommend this novel to anyone who may be looking for something slightly off the beaten path in the way of YA novels. A strong heroine, extreme living conditions and unpredictable outcomes help The Hunger Games stand out from other dystopian novels of its kind. This is the first in a series of three and by far the best. I’ll leave it to you to decide what you think about the other two books in The Hunger Games saga.

I’m beyond excited about season three. I can’t even put my thoughts into words to express how insane the revelations are, the final shot of the prison (survival at last for the group?!), and Rick growing a pair of balls and laying down the law of the land.
