A Predictable Conclusion. Review: Smash Season Finale – “Bombshell”

To say I’m disappointed with the season finale of Smash would be putting it mildly, especially after “Previews” showed us what great acting and dialogue this show is capable of producing. “Bombshell” does no such thing. It is filled with predictability and yawn-inducing moments.

Comrades Up in Arms. Review: Lost Girl – “BrotherFae of the Wolves”

The Mongolian Death Worm is an elderly Light Fae named Velma (Jayne Eastwood), whose unnatural attachment to her TV can become deadly. Take away her TV and you have complete control of her. This seems to be an indictment of TV viewers; our society has become overly attached to electronic devices, practically rendering us technology-addicted zombies. Would we act as Velma does if these things were taken away from us?

Seinfeld This Is Not… Review: Veep “Chung”

This is only the fourth episode of Veep and we’re already at the “meh” stage. I just don’t get it. The acting seems forced, the lines are delivered mechanically, the jokes aren’t funny and I found my thoughts wandering.

Review: The Borgias “Day of Ashes”

“Day of Ashes” sets up what is to come – a day of reckoning, but for whom? The Pope (Jeremy Irons) keeps his word to atone for his sins in light of the disaster caused by lightning, which resulted in numerous casualties and and a few fatalities. But, giving sacrament to the people hardly seems penance enough for the type of sins the Pope has committed.

My, my, my… what a crazy hour “A Man Without Honor” presents us with. A monster is born, the dragons hiding place is revealed and enemies come face to face.

Nipple Sucking, Procreation, and Movies – Review: The Big C “Life Rights”

Don’t let the title mislead you—“Life Rights” is not what you expect. It is delightfully entertaining and full of unabashed humor with an ample dose of sarcasm and a spoonful of disdain thrown in for good measure. Sean gets more than he bargained for when he catches Adam and his girlfriend Jesse in a compromising position.

An Engagement, a Custody Battle and a Transgender Patient. Review: Nurse Jackie, S4 E6 – “No-Kimono-Zone”

“No-Kimono-Zone” examines all that is wrong in Jackie’s (Edie Falco) life, and believe me, there’s a lot going on. Jackie is having sex dreams about Dr. Cruz (Bobby Cannavale); Zoey (Merritt Wever) dresses in kimonos while preparing breakfast; and, Kevin (Dominic Fumusa) is suing for custody of the girls. But a transgender patient brings a little light into Jackie’s otherwise dark life, if only temporarily.

Common Law is thoroughly enjoyable. It’s intelligent and entertaining. It provides witty banter, sharp dialogue, and terrific acting by all involved.

You Call That A Finale? Review: New Girl “See Ya”

“See Ya” feels more like a series finale than a season finale. The ending is predictable and not all that funny. The gem of the show comes when the gang ends up in the desert and keys start flying. I didn’t see that coming.

I Wouldn’t Get My Hopes Up With This One… Book Review: Deadlocked by Charlaine Harris

This wasn’t the worst I’ve read by Harris nor was it the greatest, but I closed the book feeling like a sucker. If you’re looking for the Harris of old who made us laugh and kept us involved, trying to solve the big mystery with Sookie in every story, you’ll be sorely disappointed.

Busting A Witchy B*tch’s Balls and Fae STD’s? Oh My! Review: Lost Girl “Mirror, Mirror”

“Mirror, Mirror” is an intense but highly entertaining episode. You get a bit of humor from our lovable Kenzi (Ksenia Solo) but it’s of a darker variety, for the most part. The Wtich Baba Yaga is scary. The fable or myth of Baba Yaga, who is Fae by the way, is a cross between Bloody Mary and the witch in Hansel and Gretel.

Is it Karma or God? Review: The Borgias, S2, Ep. 205 “The Choice”

“The Choice” provides a variety of things to gaze at and relish in. From a ‘bromance’ whose flames are rekindled to a Cardinal showing the Sforzas how things get done, this episode does not skimp on excitement, intrigue, and unexpected revelations.

Michael’s Back and Rebecca Falls Ill. Review: Smash – “Previews” @NBCSmash

Seems like everything that can go wrong with opening night does, making for a very interesting episode. Dev (Raza Jaffrey) isn’t returning Karen’s (Katharine McPhee) calls, and Jessica (Savannah Wise) hasn’t been able to reach Ivy (Megan Hilty) either. Michael (Will Chase) returns to the role of Joe DiMaggio, causing huge problems for Julia (Debra Messing) and Tom (Christian Borle). On top of that, Rebecca (Uma Thurman) ends up in the hospital. Yeah, I’d say “all hell breaks loose.”

Where O Where Have My Dragons Gone? Review: Game of Thrones “The Old Gods and The New”

The name of the game in “The Old Gods and the New” is taking what doesn’t belong to you. A castle is claimed in the name of a lesser prince; dragons go missing without a trace; and the Iron King gets what’s coming to him.

Selina’s A Bad Mother, Shut Your Mouth! Review: Veep “Catherine”

This episode doesn’t impress as much as the first two, but it’s enjoyable all the same. I want to see more of Senator Doyle. That guy kills me.
