There's more than one way to skin a cat. Review: Homeland - "Semper I" 4

Is it possible CIA Agent Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) is wrong about Sgt. Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis)? Maybe he wasn’t turned by Al Qaeda as she suspects. After all, it’s been a month since Carrie began watching Brody’s every move, and she still hasn’t found anything to connect him to terrorist Abu Nazir (Navid Negahban). He does appear to be having hallucinations though—he sees the college professor, Raqim Faisel (Omid Abtahi), who bought the home directly in the path of the airport in last week’s “Clean Skin” in his bathroom mirror.

Big Boobs, A Girlfriend Contract and a Shooting. Review: It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia - "The Storm of the Century" 5

I enjoyed “The Storm of the Century.” It made me laugh in all the right places—some wrong ones too, if truth be told. I can’t wait to see what the gang is up to in their next adventure.

Two Pilots, a Carousel and a Gun-Wielding Blonde. Review: Bored to Death - "Gumball" 6

Schwartzman plays a wonderful Peter Gunn—perfectly imitating the style of Craig Stevens, the actor who portrayed the famous detective in the Blake Edwards series of the same name, Peter Gunn, from 1958-1961. Schwartzman can play cool, suave and sophisticated with the best of them. And like Peter Gunn, “Gumball” is the perfect whodunit with its dialogue, twists and turns, and music. I can’t remember the last time I had so much fun watching a show.

Nightmares, Nazir and a Naked Women. Review: Homeland - "Grace" 7

Some shows with a lot of intrigue lose their way. I’m happy to say so far, Homeland isn’t one of them. As “Grace” opens, Sgt. Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis) is having an extremely difficult time dealing with his traumatic memories, having nightmare after nightmare. CIA Agent Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) is completely wrapped up with proving her theory that Brody was turned while in captivity, to the point where she’s becoming obsessive about it. She may be right, though, when she learns from an undercover operative that terrorist Abu Nazir (Navid Negahban) has resurfaced after years of lying low.

What Happens When You Follow a Mysterious Blonde. Advance Review: Bored to Death - "The Blonde in the Woods" 8

The season premiere of “Bored to Death” is funny and thoroughly enjoyable. The dialogue alone is enough to make me laugh, but the best part of the show is the fantastic chemistry among the three main stars. They play off each other beautifully. If you’re a fan of film noir, you won’t want to miss the new season of Bored to Death.

A Dysfunctional Woman, A Disapproving Mother & a Druggie Ex-Husband. Advance Review: HBO's "#Enlightened" Series Premiere 9

Why should you watch Enlightened? Well, it’s nothing like some of the other series based on flawed women…There is plenty of sharp, intuitive, witty writing, fantastic acting and storylines that will bring you back week after week as you wait to see what Amy gets herself into next.

Cooking the Books and A Baby Funeral. Review: It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia - "Sweet Dee Gets Audited" 10

I am so disappointed. After laughing uproariously during the first three episodes of Sunny’s Season 7, I barely squeaked out a ‘Hah’ while watching “Sweet Dee Gets Audited.” Instead of the usual sharp, witty writing, there is only idiotic ridiculousness.

I am jumping for joy with today’s news that Cinemax has renewed Strike Back for a second season! Editorial: Why NBC Cancelled "The Playboy Club" 13

It comes as no surprise that NBC has cancelled The Playboy Club. It premiered to low ratings which only got worse after each episode. Just read my latest review to find out what went wrong. However, I take exception to the statement released by The Parents Television Council president, Tim Winters just hours after news of the cancellation broke…

An Undercover Bunny, a False Relationship and More Threats. Review: The Playboy Club - "A Matter of Simple Duplicity" 15

Carol-Lynne (Laura Benati) hires a new bunny over Billy’s (David Krumholz) objections; Janie (Jenna Dewan Tatum) and Max (Wes Ramsey) fight over the lie she’s been keeping; Alice’s (Leah Renee Cudmore) husband Sean (Sean Maher) takes it upon himself to set Nick (Eddie Cibrian) up in an effort to become Nick’s campaign manager; and Johnny Bianchi (Troy Garity) tells Maureen (Amber Heard) “You’re the last person to see my father alive. One way or the other, Maureen, you’re gonna tell me what you know.” While this sounds like an interesting episode of The Playboy Club, it leaves a lot to be desired.

Our favorite Santa Barbara fake psychic team faces all manner of things when Psych returns for its sixth season on Wednesday, October 12 at 10/9c on the USA Network where, as we all know, characters are welcome. And Shawn (James Roday) and Gus (Dulé Hill) definitely fit, wouldn’t you say?

Review: It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia - "Frank Reynolds' Little Beauties" (Diddling, Perverts and a Beauty Pageant) 17

What will they think of next? Beauty pageants, that’s what. But not your ordinary pageant, oh no. Frank (Danny DeVito) has gotten himself in quite a mess after meeting a guy “in a titty bar” and becoming involved in a children’s pageant when the guy is arrested for “diddling” one of the contestants. At first, the gang doesn’t know kids are involved, so they’re quite disappointed when two little girls waltz into Paddy’s parading around in bathing suits, rather than the bombshells they were expecting. As usual, hilarity ensues.

Review: The Playboy Club, S1, E2 – “The Scarlet Bunny” (Secrets, secrets and more secrets!)

Review: The Playboy Club, S1, E2 - "The Scarlet Bunny" (Secrets, secrets and more secrets!) 19

While The Playboy Club isn’t trying to emulate Mad Men (as I noted in last week’s review), it is similar to the various nighttime soaps of eras past. But that’s ok as far as I’m concerned. I loved Peyton Place, a 1960s soap, Dynasty in the 1980s and more recently, Melrose Place (the original) in the 1990s. “Soap opera stories run concurrently, intersect and lead into further developments. An individual episode of a soap opera will generally switch between several different concurrent story threads that may at times interconnect and affect one another or may run entirely independent of each other.” (www.wikipedia.org) I’d say The Playboy Club fits the criteria perfectly.

Review: It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, S7, E2 - "The Gang Goes to the Jersey Shore" 20

There are three storylines in this episode: Mac and Frank being plucked out of the ocean by a yacht filled with guidos and guidettes; Dennis and Dee’s wild adventures with a bunch of crazy wacked-out petty thieves; and Charlie spending a romantic evening on the beach with Rose (Mary Elizabeth Ellis), the waitress he’s been obsessed with over the seasons. What happens and how these stories come together at the end of the episode is what makes me laugh so hard, I almost pee my pants!

TV News: HBO Documentary Films Releases Martin Scorcese's Film "George Harrison: Living in a Material World" 23

This is also a very special documentary — not only is it directed and produced by Martin Scorcese who recently picked up a much-deserved Emmy® for directing the season premiere of Boardwalk Empire, much of it is told in Harrison’s own words. There are also interviews with his closest friends, performances, photographs and home movies, many of which are rare and unseen footage.

Interview: Stephanie March and Linus Roache Talk About Their Roles on This Season's "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" 24

Recently, YEC was invited to participate in a conference call with Stephanie March and Linus Roache, from NBC’s hit show, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (L&O:SVU). March is returning as the hard-hitting ADA Alexandra Cabot, while Roache is reprising his role as ADA Mike Cutter on the original Law & Order, but with a promotion to Bureau Chief. I found both actors to be extremely friendly and willing to share what they could not only about the upcoming season, but their upcoming projects as well.

Review: The Playboy Club, S1, E1 - "Pilot" (Bunnies, Murder and the Mob) 25

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. But despite what people have been saying, the only thing I found similar to AMC’s hit series Mad Men is the era of the 1960s. And that’s only because Hugh Hefner founded The Playboy Club in early 1960—if the writers/creators of The Playboy Club wanted to mimic Mad Men, we would be watching an entirely different show. I’ll admit, I had a good time watching The Playboy Club. It was fun, entertaining, intriguing and took me back to my early 20s, especially the underwear the Bunnies are sporting.
