A Fallen Diplomat, a Forgiving Brody and an Explosion. Review: Homeland – “Representative Brody” 2

While the title “Representative Brody” may lead you to believe this episode is all about Nick Brody (Damian Lewis), nothing could be further from the truth. It’s about both Carrie (Claire Danes) and Brody, but Danes carries the episode beautifully.

Chilling. Macabre. Dead People Who Aren't Dead. Advance Review: Alcatraz - "Pilot" 3

Alcatraz is a chilling and, at times, macabre new series, full of intrigue and suspense. It is flawlessly directed and acted, and the cinematography is picture perfect in all aspects. There are several moments in the Pilot where I found myself holding my breath. I like when a series asks questions that aren’t readily answered, which is what this new show does. Alcatraz is intelligent, keeps me interested and I’ve already become invested in the characters after only one episode. I highly recommend you give this new series a chance.

No Hesitation; No Surrender; No Man Left Behind. Review: It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia - "Thunder Gun Express" 4

The Gang can’t wait to see Thunder Gun Express, “the greatest movie ever made,” according to Dennis (Glenn Howerton). They get the last available tickets online; Charlie (Charlie Day) has the requisite amount of booze; and they have 30 minutes to get to the theater. But when Frank (Danny DeVito) gets to Paddys, he tells them about the awful traffic jams caused by President Obama’s visit to Philadelphia. You just know “Thunder Gun Express” is going to turn into a comedy of errors, especially given their mantra, “No hesitation; no surrender; no man left behind.”

Finally, we learn what Brody's mission is. Review: Homeland - "Crossfire" 9

The majority of “Crossfire” spends its time between present day and three years ago when Abu Nazir (Navid Negahban) brings Brody to his home to be his young son Issa’s (Rohan Chand) English tutor. There are two distinct, separate storylines in this episode: Carrie’s (Claire Danes) involvement in handling the outrage of the Muslim community after last week’s shooting in the mosque; and Brody’s kidnapping as he goes in and out of consciousness, reliving his time with Issa. And we finally learn what Brody’s mission is as we come to understand the deep connection formed between him and Nazir.

News: Filming Begins on Cinemax Suspense Series, "Nemesis," Starring Melissa George 10

With the success of Cinemax’s highly intriguing and intense counter-terrorism series, Strike Back, the network is trying to hit gold again with its new suspense series, “Nemesis.” The show, set to air in 2012, deals with international espionage at an elite private intelligence firm and stars Melissa George (“30 Days of Night,” “In Treatment”). With the description below from creator Frank Spotnitz (“The X-Files,” “Strike Back”), it looks like I’ll be adding another show to my must-watch TV list.

A Party, A Mysterious Diplomat and an Important Reveal. Review: Homeland - "Achilles Heel" 11

“I’m through talking to Abu Nazir. Tell him it’s over.” ~ Brody (Damian Lewis). What! Are you kidding me? Once again, we’re on another roller coaster ride. In last week’s installment, “The Weekend,” we were led to believe Brody wasn’t the flipped POW. This week, we learn his Marine buddy, Tom Walker (Chris Chalk), is the one who was turned. But then, we’re given a one-two punch with the above statement. What does it all mean? Were both Brody and Walker turned? Or is there something else going on with Brody? After all, he did profess his love for Abu Nazir (Navid Negahban).

TV News: E! Entertainment Special: Kelly Osbourne 12

I became interested in Kelly Osbourne, she of famous parents Ozzy and Sharon, during her turn on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars. She fascinated me with her charm, quick wit and shining personality. Then she hooked up with Joan Rivers on E!’s Fashion Police, a show I dearly love, not only for the fashion, but the comedy as well. That shows never ceases to make me laugh. Now, Kelly has agreed to give her fans a look inside her personal life, along with her parents, brother Jack, and a close friend. The special airs Sunday, November 20 at 11:00 pm on E!.

A Clean Bar, A Funny Waitress and A Handsome Man. Review: It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia - "How Mac Got Fat" 13

The opening shot of Mac (Rob McElhenney) sitting in a confessional perfectly sets the tone for this week’s installment of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. He’s a slouch in a t-shirt that doesn’t quite fit, showing off his fat belly. Not a pretty sight! When Father Cullen (W. Morgan Sheppard) asks what his confession is, Mac responds, “I’m fat.”

Romance, Infidelity and A Dead Guy Who's Not Dead. Review: Homeland - "The Weekend" 15

Wow! Wow! Wow! Did anyone expect that ending? “The Weekend” answers a lot of questions, provokes even more unanswered questions, and gives us wonderful character studies of our three main protagonists. Never did I expect Walker to be the bad guy! Did you? He’s dead, right? At least Brody thinks he is. Let’s talk about how it all goes down first.

Bad Breath, A Cursed Vase and Indiana Jones. Review: It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia – “The Gang Gets Trapped” 17

“The Gang Gets Trapped” is just pure, clean, belly-laughing fun, filled with outstandingly witty dialogue. It doesn’t get any better than this, people. Each week, I think Sunny can’t possibly get any funnier, and then it does. I’m happy to say I laughed throughout the entire show. And I’m pretty sure you will too.

Suspicions Abound as Polygraphs are Passed. Review: Homeland - "The Good Soldier" 18

Homeland continues to wow me with its great writing, acting and thrilling plot lines. It’s mesmerizing and addictive, and a wonderful character study. Thankfully, “The Good Soldier” does away with the ‘is he or isn’t he’ question by throwing suspicions on Saul. Staying with that theme could deflate the show so I’m glad the powers-that-be recognize the need to lead us somewhere else. The question now is, is Saul really the mole we’re being led to believe he is? Or is it someone else? Gotta love the intrigue in this show!

TV News: Production Begins on "Southland's" Fourth Season 22

As a fan of TNT’s acclaimed drama series, Southland, I was happy to read the cast and crew are back on the streets of Los Angeles as production begins on the show’s fourth season. The intensely personal, first-person look at cops and detectives on the beat stars Michael Cudlitz, Shawn Hatosy, Regina King and Ben McKenzie. They will be joined this season by special guest star Lucy Liu (Kung Fu Panda, Charlie’s Angels, Ally McBeal). Southland is set to launch its new season Tuesday, Jan. 17, at 10 p.m. (ET/PT).

The Plot Thickens. Review: Homeland – “Blind Spot”

The Plot Thickens. Review: Homeland - "Blind Spot" 23

“Blind Spot” does a nice job of character development, especially with Carrie and Saul. They are both such hard-driven people; it’s refreshing to see their softer, more vulnerable sides. The episode also leads us to another possibility: is Saul the one who’s been turned, and if so, why? Or is there a mole in Estes’ (David Harwood) office? Although the show alone is enough to keep me tuning in week after week, this turn of events makes me even more invested in Homeland. In my opinion, Homeland is the best new show this season on all the networks—broadcast, cable and premium.

The Drinking Game to End All Games. Review: It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia - "Chardee MacDennis: The Game of Games" 25

When I watched this episode last night, it didn’t really tickle my funny bone. But knowing what Sunny is capable of, I decided to watch “Chardee MacDennis: The Game of Games” a second time to be fair. I’m so glad I did. Where I only chuckled once or twice last night, especially when they put Frank in the dog crate, today I was laughing practically non-stop.
