Review: Rescue Me, S7, E6 – “344”

Review: Rescue Me, S7, E6 - "344" 5

“344” is rife with dramatic dialogue which rivets me to my seat, intently listening to each conversation. While there aren’t as many comedic scenes as usual this week, that’s ok. Rescue Me is, after all, a very dark show. Tommy is extremely affected by a visit to Ground Zero, which manifests itself in several different ways.

Finally, things come to a head with Ashley and her parents. It’s about time this kid is put in her place. Speaking of kids — Oh. My. God. If my kids were as bad as Teresa’s, I’d shoot myself! All they have to do is pose for pictures for Teresa’s newest cookbook, “Fabulicious,” and everyone can go home. But no. They have to cry and fuss. Teresa is really wearing rose-colored glasses if she thinks her girls are good.

TV News: TNT Renews “Leverage” for a Fifth Season

TV News: TNT Renews "Leverage" for a Fifth Season 9

It’s not surprising to me that TNT has renewed its fast-paced drama Leverage. It grows in viewership each season, and rightfully so. It’s a modern day Robin Hood, if you will, and who doesn’t love stories that involve taking from the rich and giving to the poor. Especially in this day and age when so many people are struggling to keep their heads above water. Leverage is such a fun show and I couldn’t be happier.

TV News and Clip: Like to Be Scared? FX Wants You to “Let Them In”

TV News and Clip: Like to Be Scared? FX Wants You to "Let Them In" 10

I don’t know about you, but I’m scared – just from watching the “clues” FX has been sending about its new fall series, American Horror Story. So I can’t wait to watch the series which premieres Wednesday, October 5 at 10:00 pm ET/PT. I mean, who doesn’t love a good thriller? Remember how scared you were when you first saw Friday the 13th or Scream? Now fans are getting a chance to be just as scared as the characters on the show, simply by letting FX in.

TV News: USA Picks Up “Suits” for a Second Season

As one of my favorite shows this summer, I was very happy to hear the news today that USA has renewed Suits for a second season. From the very first episode, I was hooked, and in my Advance Review of the new series, wrote “Suits grabbed me from the opening scene and kept me interested and amused throughout the entire hour. I thoroughly enjoyed the show. The writing is sharp and witty and the characters perfectly acted. While the show has a serious undertone to it, it’s lighthearted enough to make this a very pleasant and enjoyable show, fitting perfectly into USA’s network of characters.” I think I hit the proverbial nail right on the head.

Review: Rescue Me, S7, E5 - "Head" 11

I don’t want to ruin the fun you’ll have watching everyone’s plans come to fruition. I will tell you it involves getting dirt on Keppler, a free-for-all at a bar between the cops and the firefighters, figuring out the name of the guy Mike slept with and confronting him, and an award-winning performance by Callie Thorne for delivering the blows that end Tommy’s suspension. You just can’t keep a good man down. Wait. Did I say ‘good?’

TV News: HBO2's New Documentary, "Madonna of the Mills," Premieres August 24 14

America has a terrible secret: 99% of the puppies sold in U.S. pet stores come from puppy mills, and nearly 100% of them have parasites at the time of purchase. Pet stores around the country sell dogs riddled with infections and ailments because their parents are housed in inhumane facilities, relentlessly bred and then callously discarded.

Interview: A Conversation Among Friends with Mary McCormack and Fred Weller of #InPlainSight 15

I’m an avid fan of USA’s In Plain Sight so every time I am afforded the opportunity to speak with Mary McCormack and Fred Weller, I jump at it. On Monday, August 2nd, I spoke with the stars of this great series for the third time in two years. Mary and Fred are incredibly fun to talk to and are always willing to answer anything that comes their way.

It was such a pleasure to speak to Rob McIlhenny (“Mac”), Glenn Howerton (“Dennis”), and Charlie Day (“Charlie”). Each was nicer than the next. They couldn’t have been more accommodating if they tried. I have three interviews, one of each. I have already posted my interview with Charlie, so this time, you’ll be watching Glenn Howerton. Be prepared to laugh because let me tell you, Glenn Howerton is hysterical. I’ll post the interview with Rob McIlhenny in a few weeks.

I hate to admit that at my age, I watch the entire Kardashian franchise on E. I don’t know what draws me to this fame-hungry family, but there I am – DVR at the ready each and every week. So imagine how happy I am at E’s latest announcement that they will be televising the wedding extravaganza of her royal highness (and I use that term loosely) Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries.

Review: Franklin & Bash, S1, E10, Season Finale - "Go Tell it on the Mountain" 20

With Stanton in jail, things aren’t looking too good as the evidence against him is overpowering and he is caught in a lie. Looks like the guys have their work cut out for them.

Review: Rescue Me, S7, E4 – Brownies

Review: Rescue Me, S7, E4 - Brownies 21

Rescue Me is known for taking a hard look at firefighters with some very dramatic scenes. But the opening sequence of “Brownies” has one of the most powerful openings I’ve seen in a long time. What starts out with Tommy (Denis Leary) and the guys watching the video tape of the 9/11 Memorial – specifically Tommy’s interview – turns into a free-for-all which ends up as a personal battle between Tommy and Franco (Daniel Sunjata). I was a bit surprised because I thought Tommy did a good job of keeping himself in check during the interview – until the end that is – but Franco has his own agenda in mind.

TV News: Bravo Media Expands Original Programming with New Series and Returning Favorites

TV News: Bravo Media Expands Original Programming with New Series and Returning Favorites 23

According to Bravo, it’s had its “best second quarter ever.” So, it’s decided to increase the number of original unscripted programming. The new shows will encompass a new culinary competition, a look inside the lives of young women working in the hippest art galleries in New York, and a look inside the marriages of six newly-wed couples. Bravo has also renewed three of its major hitters. Since I’m into cooking and enjoy watching reality tv competitions, I’m looking forward to “Around the World in 80 Plates” (working title).
