Review: True Blood, S4, E46 – “Burning Down the House”

Review: True Blood, S4, E46 - "Burning Down the House" 1

Honestly, I love the opening action sequence. It’s exciting and makes me think I’m in store for something amazing. Well, “Burning Down the House” is good, but it isn’t amazing. It’s more of the same indescribable confusion that someone *cough* Alan Ball *cough* thinks is funny. Yet, I’m not laughing.

Review: The Closer, S7, E6 “A Family Affair”

Review: The Closer, S7, E6 "A Family Affair" 3

From comedy to drama, The Closer doesn’t want to fit itself into typical television fare. It breaks out of that mold and creates its own category of entertainment. It’s what I like to call fantastic. Everything about it pulls you in and holds you fast.

Review: True Blood, S4, E45 - "Run" 4

I don’t know what to say about this episode. It falls flat for me.

Book Review: “The Host” by Stephanie Meyer

Book Review: "The Host" by Stephanie Meyer 5

This book has everything: suspense, mystery, and a love triangle. It made me question decisions I would make, the nature of humanity, and the power of love.

Review: The Closer, S7, E6 - "Home Improvement" 6

What an interesting storyline this week. A sex offender is found murdered on a job site. And the laughs just continue on. “Sure you don’t want to just cover him up and call it a day?”

Review: True Blood, S4, E44 – “Spellbound”

Review: True Blood, S4, E44 - "Spellbound" 7

“Spellbound” is laced with subtle hints of the lack of tolerance for prejudice, especially the overwhelming and highlighted prejudice the witches harbor for the vamps.

Allen makes you fall in love with her characters, relate to them on a personal level, and root for them in whatever new experiences they undertake.

Review: The Closer, S7, E5 - "Forgive Us Our Trespasses" 10

This episode is full of amusement. From finding out the dead guy wears women’s shoes, to the team wondering about Gabriel’s loyalty, I didn’t have a dull moment while watching. At least they’ve saved the best for last.

Review: True Blood, S4, E43 – “Cold Grey Light of Dawn”

Review: True Blood, S4, E43 - "Cold Grey Light of Dawn" 11

I started off watching True Blood before I knew anything about the Southern Vampire Mysteries series. So I’d like to think I’m not biased when I say, “WTF has happened to my show?!”

Review: The Closer, S7, E4 – “Under Control”

Review: The Closer, S7, E4 - "Under Control" 12

There are no funny lines this week as the episode is very somber, but that doesn’t diminish the enjoyment I got from watching the acting, editing and camera work.

Review: True Blood, S4, E42 – “I Wish I Was the Moon”

Review: True Blood, S4, E42 - "I Wish I Was the Moon" 13

Has Bill grown over the past year? I can’t see him giving up on his love for Sookie but it seems he may have. That’s surprising. Does this mean there’s hope for all vampires?

Book Review: "The Girl Who Chased the Moon" by Sarah Addison Allen 14

This is, by far, the first book I think I’ve read in only a matter of hours. Eight, to be exact. I could not put this one down.

Review: The Closer, S7, E3 - "To Serve with Love" 15

From Flynn and Provenza’s scheme steadily spiraling out of their control to Brenda’s reaction to their hijinks, I laugh often enough to consider The Closer a comedy as well as a drama.

Review: True Blood, S4, E41 - "I Hate You, I Love You" 16

Please stop ruining my show. At this rate, I don’t care to watch what happens next Sunday. And yes, I’ve seen the footage for the rest of the season.

Book Review: "Beloved" by Toni Morrison 18

While I won’t go into detail about what happens in this book because it’s worth you finding out on your own, I will say you won’t forget Beloved. It’s deeply moving and will leave an imprint on your mind that will remind you of what it truly means to be free—physically as well as mentally.

Review: The Closer, Season 7, Ep. 2 "Repeat Offender" 20

The best part of watching a police procedural is seeing the workings of a police investigation. You know, the sneaky things officers do when suspects aren’t watching… It’s amazing that people in waiting rooms don’t realize they are being monitored.

Review: True Blood, S4, E40 - "I'm Alive and on Fire" 22

It’s nice to see the innate aggression between vampires and Weres brought to light. We don’t often get a glimpse of their interacting outside of the norm so it’s interesting to see the fangs come out and the growling commence.

Book Review: “The Birth of Venus” by Sarah Dunant

Book Review: "The Birth of Venus" by Sarah Dunant 23

It kills me to say it but I felt let down once we reached the climax. It was somewhat predictable to have things go smoothly for her where I thought they would fall apart and actually get exciting.

Review: The Closer, Season 7, Ep. 1, “Unknown Trouble”

Review: The Closer, Season 7, Ep. 1, "Unknown Trouble" 24

This show is always so exciting. There are shots fired, a man strangling a woman, and another guy drowning a man in the toilet all in one scene. Talk about suspense.
