TV News: HBO Joins NBC Universal for “Hurricane Sandy: Coming Together”

By now, the entire country is well aware of the devastation Hurricane Sandy wreaked up and down the east coast this past weekend. And here we are, days later, and friends and family, even entire neighborhoods, are still without food, power, and the creature comforts we all take for granted. As this great nation often does, now is the time to pull together and help out any way we can. And that is exactly what HBO and NBC Universal are doing with “Hurricane Sandy: Coming Together.” The live one-hour special will air Friday, November 2 (8-9 pm ET/tape-delayed PT), and all proceeds received will go directly to the American Red Cross relief efforts for Hurricane Sandy. For further details, like how to donate, and which stars will be performing, please read the HBO press release below.

Ravish Me Red. Review: American Horror Story: Asylum, S2 Ep 3 – “Nor’easter”

But for Sister Jude (Jessica Lange), her torment is very real, and what she sees is not an illusion, at all. In fact, what she sees gets right up in her face. Yeah, ghoulish! Not only that, but she’s tormented by an enormously sinful past.

I would only recommend this book to anyone who likes a quick, somewhat romantic, read that doesn’t require any thinking.

Brother against Brother: A Ruthless Jax Hangs onto the Gavel. Recap: Sons of Anarchy, S5 “Ablation”

“I’m tired of watching my back.” Considering everything Jax (Charlie Hunnam) has dealt with in the last two seasons, I’m amazed it has taken him this long enough to say those words. But with his family possibly in danger, Jax sinks deeper into the darkness that has overtaken him ever since Opie’s (Ryan Hurst) death.

Following a fairly successful Fall 2012 season, NBC has announced its new and returning series for its mid-season 2013 schedule.

“It’s the Lies that Undo Us.” Review: Homeland – “Q&A”

Homeland continues to raise the stakes with “Q&A” as Brody (Damian Lewis) is interrogated, first by Peter Quinn (Rupert Friend) and then Carrie (Claire Danes). In a display of brilliant writing, directing, and acting, “Q&A” delves deeper into what makes its two main characters tick, while at the same time staying true to the terrorist story that has its viewers, me included, glued to their screens every Sunday night. As much as I loved last season’s “The Weekend,” another Carrie/Brody-centric episode, I think “Q&A” is even better, and will surely help to garner Emmy® awards for both leads next year.

Review: The Walking Dead “Walk With Me” Never Trust A Man With An Aquarium Fetish!

Just when you think you’ve seen it all, the writers of The Walking Dead come up with something else to shock you. All I’ll say is I won’t ever look at a fish tank the same way again.

The Walls Do Have Ears…and Eyes! Review: #Haven, S3 “Real Estate”

A dark and spooky night; check. A creepy house in the woods on a desolate road; check. An adventurous young couple dressed in costume; check. Mystery is in the air and it’s perfect for a Halloween-themed episode of Haven.

The Woman in White. Review: Grimm, S2 “La Llorona”

#Grimm gives us a wickedly good Halloween episode with “La Llorona.” It has suspense with a time sensitive case, and it gives us bits of the other on-going story lines. It also gives us another piece of the puzzle, in the form of a psychic, which may prove interesting later on.

Why You Should See This Movie. Spoiler-Free Review: Warner Bros. Pictures’ “Cloud Atlas”

I highly recommend this movie for anyone who hasn’t had that out-of-this-world film experience yet. Yes, it is that good.

Review: The Vampire Diaries “The Rager” And What A Party It Was!

“The Rager” shows us just what it means to be alone in the cruel world, and what that can do to a person, uh…. vampire.

Video Clip: Go Behind the Scenes for a Debrief Editorial with the Cast and Crew of Homeland @SHO_Kareem

I wonder what the cast and crew thought of last week’s episode. Oh wait, I have a clip for you — a debrief editorial — during which they tell us their opinion of “New Car Smell.”

Satan Compels You. Review: American Horror Story: Asylum, S2 Ep 2, “Tricks and Treats”

The 1960s weren’t exactly a bright spot in women’s liberation so when nymphomaniac Shelley (Chloe Sevigny) confesses to Dr. Arden the reason for her “incarceration” (“Because I like sex. That’s my crime”), it’s a rather bold statement. It’s clear she’s not insane at all—she just loves sex.

The Walking Dead Meets Law & Order. Review: It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia – “The Maureen Ponderosa Wedding Massacre”

What a fun, Halloween-themed episode this is. There are all sorts of strange occurrences, some very scary moments, frightening music, and, of course, lots of comedy. “The Maureen Ponderosa Wedding Massacre” is a perfect mash-up of two wildly popular TV shows—two of my favorites, actually—and I enjoyed every moment of it.

One Night Stands and Dirty Deeds. Review: Sons of Anarchy, S5 “Toad’s Wild Ride”

#SOAFX – Can there be any more tension between Jax and Clay? And Gemma too, for that matter? Jax is on a mission and if you’re standing in his way, be prepared to be knocked the fuck out. “Toad’s Wild Ride” takes us all for a little spin on the Charming train. I thought this episode was excellent. From Gemma’s memorable one night stand to Clay’s audacious lies, you will be glued to your TV and fear blinking because you won’t want to miss one second.

This One You Can Skip… Book Review: Refuge by Carole Rummage

This reads like a first draft rather than a well thought out, edited novel. The blurb on the inside cover is better than the book itself. If Rummage wants us to see ourselves in this world, she has to make it believable.
