The Lying Game. Review: Grimm – “PTZD”

The Lying Game. Review: Grimm – “PTZD” 1

Opening “PTZD” with a perplexing and ominous quote by Voltaire sets the tone for a decidedly better episode than the less than enthralling season premiere. With “PTZD,” a play on PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), extending the scenes from the ending of “Ungrateful Dead,” we see an uncontrollable Nick (David Giuntoli) go after an innocent family, making us wonder whether Rosalee’s (Bree Turner) cure can actually work on him. Meanwhile, just like the season premiere, the more interesting storyline involves Adalind (Claire Coffee) trying to regain her Hexenbiest powers with the help of Stefania (Shohreh Aghdashloo).

Witches Be Trippin'. Review: The Originals - "Sinners and Saints" 8

I’m disappointed with a few aspects of “Sinners and Saints.” The visual effects were lacking in believability and some of the acting was off.

Powerplays, Secrets and Justice? - Retrospective: Sons of Anarchy – “Los Fantasmas” 9

Charming residents wake up to a new development in the Aquino School shooting case plastered all over the front page of the “San Joaquin Tribune: “Byzlats, Sons of Anarchy May Have Supplied Gun to the Shooter’s Mother.” This week’s episode, “Los Fantasmas” (ghosts in Spanish) addresses how Jax (Charlie Hunnam) deals with the fallout from the news, as well as the latest confrontation between Gemma (Katey Sagal) and Tara (Maggie Siff).

This week’s Witches of East End episode, “A Few Good Talisman,” is a doozy, full of surprising revelations and life-altering moments as Joanna’s (Julia Ormond) murder trial takes center stage, and Ingrid’s (Rachel Boston) curse rears its head.

A National Treasure. Recap: Castle – “Get A Clue”

A National Treasure. Recap: Castle - "Get A Clue" 11

As you can tell by my five-star rating, I truly loved tonight’s episode of Castle. “Get a Clue” was such a delight to watch because once again, it recalled the playful and mischievous episodes of earlier seasons, and sparked a longstanding curiosity of mine —historical treasure. I mean, who doesn’t believe in secret passageways, coded messages, hidden clues, and ultimately, buried treasure secreted by our founding fathers?! I’m pretty sure Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion) and I would be the best of friends!

Mind. Blown. Review: The Walking Dead – “Isolation”

Mind. Blown. Review: The Walking Dead - “Isolation” 14

With Glenn’s words still ringing in my ears, I have to agree with him. This sickness is the pits. It’s slowing things down, making viewers wonder who’ll die next to come back as a walker.

Blood Isn’t Always Thicker. Retrospective: Haven – “Lay Me Down”

Blood Isn't Always Thicker. Retrospective: Haven – "Lay Me Down" 15

“Lay Me Down” is hands down the best episode of Haven so far this season. There is a plethora of drama, mystery, a delightfully scary new trouble, and of course, chivalry and romance. As we dive into “Lay Me Down,” the entire town is on NoDoz® because someone’s sleep trouble is causing dreams to become reality—and not in a good way. One town drunk dreams about being mauled by a bear (seriously) and he dies in his sleep looking like…he was mauled by a bear. But our main characters aren’t immune to this trouble.

Crash and Burn. Retrospective: Grimm – “Ungrateful Dead”

Crash and Burn. Retrospective: Grimm – “Ungrateful Dead” 16

“Ungrateful Dead” picks up, or rather, continues where we left off at the end of season two’s finale “Goodnight, Sweet Prince” – good guys versus reanimated corpses. While I was expecting a lot more fanfare to the season three premiere, I’m a bit disappointed in how this episode pans out. I guess I was hoping for more…oomph but what I got was more…meh.

Little Star. Recap: White Collar – “Out Of the Frying Pan”

Little Star. Recap: White Collar - “Out Of the Frying Pan” 17

Coming into this season, I had some concerns that were fueled by the announcement that White Collar was being cut from 16 episodes to 13 to help the show’s creator Jeff Eastin balance both White Collar and his other show Graceland. As the season premiere grew closer, Eastin, an avid twitter user, was nowhere to be seen, doing little to no press to promote the upcoming season. As a fan, I wondered if White Collar was becoming a burden and more focus was being put on Graceland.

Redacted. Recap: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D - “Girl in the Flower Dress” 24

Early this fall, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D was number one on my list of shows I was eager to watch, but five episodes in and I am quickly losing interest. Sadly, I am not the only one as numbers for the show appear to be on a downward spiral after each episode.
