Review: Nurse Jackie, S3, E11 – “Batting Practice”

As Grace (Ruby Jerins) gives Fiona (Mackenzie Aladjem) vitamins at the breakfast table, Jackie gazes longingly at the pills, wishing it were Roxy and she was the one taking them. Something tells me Jackie’s not going to be sober for much longer.

Recap/Review: The Real Housewives of New Jersey, S3, E5 – “Stick It”

As reality episodes go, this one is on the tame side. We learn Melissa longs to become a singer and loving husband that he is, Joey G decides to support her in the pursuit of her dream. But someone really should tell Melissa the correct words to “Amazing Grace.” Of course, using the word “wench” instead of “wretch” really does suit her, don’t you think? Meow…

Review: The Killing, S1, E12 – “Beau Soleil”

I’ve got a really bad feeling. “Beau Soleil” is not only the title of the episode, but the name of an escort service Terry is involved with.

Review: Franklin & Bash, S1, E2 – “She Came Upstairs to Kill Me”

While “Franklin & Bash” bills itself as a legal series, it can’t be considered in the same genre as “The Good Wife.” To me, it’s more like Lifetime’s “Drop Dead Diva.” It doesn’t take itself too seriously, which is what makes it so much fun to watch.

Review: United States of Tara, Season 3, Ep 310 “Train Wreck”

The darkly humorous side to all this is how the writers make light of grim situations. When Tara tells Max (John Corbett) about her new alter, he understandably wigs out but still tries to poke fun. “Who is she? Good/bad alter? Loves giving back massages and knows the stock market? No? No, we’re never gonna have one of those, are we?” But Max really loses it after finding out Bryce nearly killed Hattaras, resulting in the good doc’s decision to forego further contact with Tara.

Recap/Review: The Real Housewives of New Jersey, S3, E4 – “Gobblefellas”

Who’s ready for Thanksgiving? I sure am, after seeing the feasts put out at Melissa and Joey G’s house, as well as at Teresa and Joe’s. Didn’t it make you the least bit hungry? Food aside, it looks like the Gorgas and Giudices are that much closer to a reconciliation.

Review: Nurse Jackie, S3, E10 – “F*ck the Lemurs”

Since when do children get to decide whether they need medication? Isn’t that the therapist’s call? And is Grace (Ruby Jerins) turning into her mother when she opts to use Xanax to quiet her anxieties? There’s a pill for everything, right? I’m not exactly sure I understand what’s going on with Grace, but I do know Jerins deserves an Emmy® nod for her performance in “F*ck the Lemurs.”

And the Nominee Is …

Just what we need – another awards show. The Broadcast Journalist Critics Choice Awards has branched out with its first ever Critics Choice Television Awards to be held in Los Angeles on Monday, June 20th. Given that this awards show has some unusual nominees and categories, I’m anxious to see it.

Review: The Killing, Season 1, Episode 11 – “Missing”

“Missing” is probably my favorite episode of The Killing so far. It’s definitely the rawest and gets us closer to the two detectives heading up the Larsen case.

Movie Review: X-Men:First Class…Entertaining, Engaging, And Outshines Its Predecessors!

X-Men: First Class is amazing! It is a fast-paced, yet engaging, installation of the X-Men film franchise that outshines its predecessors. While I enjoyed the other films, X-Men: First Class surpassed my expectations exponentially!

Advance Review/Recap: Showtime’s Reality Series – The Real L Word™, Season 2

“Heartbreaking. Girl Taking. Troublemaking.” is printed on the DVD screener cover for Showtime’s provocative gay reality show The Real L Word™. And it’s all true. But they left out hilarious, heartwarming, genuine, and filled with outrageous drama. Even if you’re not a lesbian, you will enjoy this series because it’s simply fun! The show’s no-holds-barred snazzy quips and witty sarcasm are sure to delight the senses!

Review: Franklin & Bash – “Pilot”

If you’re looking for a serious drama in “Franklin & Bash,” change the channel now. This is not your father’s legal procedural. Rather, it’s a buddy show that happens to be based in a law firm. The quirkiness of Franklin and Bash’s bromance, combined with the supposed seriousness of the Infeld Daniels law firm is an odd match, but that’s what makes this new TNT series click. It’s all just a lot of good lighthearted, campy fun with some mildly serious undertones.

Book Review: “A Breath of Snow and Ashes” by Diana Gabaldon

While reading “A Breath of Snow and Ashes,” I wanted to pop in my DVD of The Patriot. It takes place during the same time period and I kept getting flashes of scenes from the movie as a backdrop to Gabaldon’s world.

Review w/Video: #Glee LIVE! Concert at Staples Center – Los Angeles, CA

As the familiar piano keys of Journey’s hit song, “Don’t Stop Believin,” start up, each of the cast members, who are standing with their backs towards the audience, slowly twist/jump and turn as the spotlight shines on them. The crowd goes wild, screaming and hollering for their favorite cast member. Rachel (Lea Michele), Finn (Cory Monteith), and Kurt (Chris Colfer) are the lead vocals for the first song, supported by the remaining cast.

Recap/Review: The Real Housewives of New Jersey – “Sealed with a Diss”

How long can this family feud go on? Stop acting like babies and kiss and make up already! At least that’s how I feel. I don’t know about you, but I’m happy Teresa makes an effort in “Sealed with a Diss.”

Review: The Killing, Season 1, Episode 20 – “I’ll Let You Know When I Get There”

I have to mention the bacon maple donut Holder brings Linden for breakfast. I don’t think I heard anything the two said while she was eating it. That alone makes me want to hop on a plane to Seattle.

Review: Glee, Season 2, Episode 22 – “New York”

Like a good cover of an old favorite, Glee’s final episode of season two hits a high note on every New York movie or musical cliché – from dancing through Times Square to breakfast at Tiffany’s. From the opening shots of Times Square, the episode is all about chasing dreams.

Hines Ward MVP of “Dancing with the Stars!” Recap/Review: “Dancing with the Stars – The Results Show,” Week 10 Season Finale

Dancing with the stars generic logo

It was an entertaining season finale for Dancing with the Stars and I have to say, I’ve had a difficult time picking my favorite. All three finalists deserve to win, in my opinion. If truth be told, though, I have been rooting for Hines Ward all along. So imagine how happy I am now that …

Review: United States of Tara, Season 3, Ep 309 “Bryce Will Play”

Tara’s (Toni Collette) terrifying new alter is her half-brother Bryce when he was a teenager and he wants to kill Tara and the other alters until he’s the last one standing. Bryce also tries to take out Dr. Hattaras (Eddie Izzard) via crab meat. Max is in for a big surprise when he watches the film, titled “Max Makes Good,” for the first time.
