Review: Sons of Anarchy “Brick” (Sex, Lies, and Cocaine) #SOAFX

Is Juice (Theo Rossi) out of his damn mind? He knows what happens to ‘rats’ and if he gets caught talking to Sheriff Roosevelt (Rockmond Dunbar), it ain’t gonna be pretty. Juice is so scared of what the MC will do if they find out he’s black; he’s willing to jeopardize his life by stealing a brick of cocaine from the cartel’s shipment to appease Roosevelt.

Review: Terra Nova – “Instinct” (Who Let The Birds Out?)

I wasn’t bored during “Instinct” but I wasn’t wowed. I don’t want to say Terra Nova is losing its steam, yet I don’t feel the same about it as I did during the series premiere.

Editorial: Why NBC Cancelled “The Playboy Club”

It comes as no surprise that NBC has cancelled The Playboy Club. It premiered to low ratings which only got worse after each episode. Just read my latest review to find out what went wrong. However, I take exception to the statement released by The Parents Television Council president, Tim Winters just hours after news of the cancellation broke…

An Undercover Bunny, a False Relationship and More Threats. Review: The Playboy Club – “A Matter of Simple Duplicity”

Carol-Lynne (Laura Benati) hires a new bunny over Billy’s (David Krumholz) objections; Janie (Jenna Dewan Tatum) and Max (Wes Ramsey) fight over the lie she’s been keeping; Alice’s (Leah Renee Cudmore) husband Sean (Sean Maher) takes it upon himself to set Nick (Eddie Cibrian) up in an effort to become Nick’s campaign manager; and Johnny Bianchi (Troy Garity) tells Maureen (Amber Heard) “You’re the last person to see my father alive. One way or the other, Maureen, you’re gonna tell me what you know.” While this sounds like an interesting episode of The Playboy Club, it leaves a lot to be desired.

Hart of Dixie – Ep. 102 “Parades & Pariahs” airing Monday, October 03, 2011 – Zoe attempts to make Bluebell her home but it doesn’t go as smoothly as she planned.

Review: Hung, Season 3 Premiere – “Don’t Give Up Detroit or Hung Like a Horse”

Expect the usual comedy, full frontal female nudity and awesome Tanya moments only Hung can bring. We’re off to a great start this season and I’m looking forward to what’s to come.

Leviathans = supernaturally strong, nasty bad things that eat people Review: #Supernatural “Hello, Cruel World”

Tons of dark humor and symbolisms abound but the main one is associating pain with being in reality. Can Dean convince Sam he’s no longer in the cage? Grab a fluffy pillow and keep a happy feel-good movie at the ready because even for a person like me who has a deep penchant for the supernatural and paranormal, “Hello, Cruel World” is filled with darkness. (Squeezes my fluffy pillow).

Revenge is a dish best served cold…as death Review: @Syfy #Haven “Sins of the Father”

“Sins of the Father” is a great season finale. There are vengeful ghosts causing mayhem and murder via the hands of the living; Rev. Driscoll (Stephen McHattie) returns as a ghost – to finish what he started; the mystery about Audrey’s (Emily Rose) identity and how Dave (John Dunsworth) and Vince (Richard Donat) are involved in the cover up; Duke (Eric Balfour) realizing exactly what being a “troubled” slayer really entails; and of course – romance.

“Bloody Good Time…” Advance Review: #Dexter “Those Kinds of Things” (@SHO_Dexter)

The season six premiere gives you drama, comedy, darkness, suspense, mystery, a little bit of ‘eww gross!’ sprinkled with ‘what the…,’ and a blow job. What more could you ask for, right? “I have no idea what Hammer time is…or how it differs from regular time.” ~ Dexter

Review: The Vampire Diaries – “The End of the Affair” (What Was Up With Stefan’s Hair?)

“The End of the Affair” is a solid episode, especially with the flashbacks to the ‘20s. Along with new discoveries and a little suspense, there’s a new vampire (an original at that) in town.

Book Review: “The Wonder Spot” by Melissa Bank

Here is yet another Melissa Bank novel I couldn’t put down. Simply put, I loved it. I don’t know how else to explain my feelings other than that.

TV News: Season Six of USA’s “Pysch” Returns with Vampires, Superheroes, Hippie Communes and Mental Institutions

Our favorite Santa Barbara fake psychic team faces all manner of things when Psych returns for its sixth season on Wednesday, October 12 at 10/9c on the USA Network where, as we all know, characters are welcome. And Shawn (James Roday) and Gus (Dulé Hill) definitely fit, wouldn’t you say?

What the hell is SAMCRO doing? Review: Sons of Anarchy #SOAFX “Una Venta”

What the hell is going on with SAMCRO this season? Gemma’s getting chummy with Sheriff Roosevelt’s wife Rita; a SAMCRO charter in Arizona is cooking up and dealing meth; both Bobby and Piney are becoming increasingly disgruntled with the way Clay is running the club; and AUSA Linc Potter is stirring up a hornet’s nest by re-opening an old murder case.

Review: It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia – “Frank Reynolds’ Little Beauties” (Diddling, Perverts and a Beauty Pageant)

What will they think of next? Beauty pageants, that’s what. But not your ordinary pageant, oh no. Frank (Danny DeVito) has gotten himself in quite a mess after meeting a guy “in a titty bar” and becoming involved in a children’s pageant when the guy is arrested for “diddling” one of the contestants. At first, the gang doesn’t know kids are involved, so they’re quite disappointed when two little girls waltz into Paddy’s parading around in bathing suits, rather than the bombshells they were expecting. As usual, hilarity ensues.

“…a bitterly beautiful explosive end.” Movie Review: Melancholia (A @MagnoliaPics Release)

A hauntingly beautiful and tragic tale. The artistic cinematography is breathtaking. The visuals are absolutely stunning…it’s an astounding celestial dream! The very onset of the film depicts everything in slow motion as the planet Melancholia draws closer on its collision course with Earth. As the story told in two parts continues in a gradual progression, the contrast of the two sisters and their reactions to impending death comes to a bitterly beautiful explosive end.

TV News: Season Two Finale of Syfy’s Hit Series, “Haven,” Friday, September 30th

Love, love, absolutely love Haven! It has drama, mystery, suspense, sarcasm, dark comedy, a little blood and gore, all sprinkled heavily with some supernatural elements. “Based on renowned author Stephen King’s The Colorado Kid, the series follows former FBI agent Audrey Parker (Rose), who becomes a cop in the small town of Haven, Maine, and soon discovers the town’s many secrets, which also holds the key to unlocking the mysteries of her lost past.”

Review: CW’s New Series ‘Hart of Dixie’ – Pilot (NYC Chic vs Southern Belle)

Being a southern gal, I’m always curious to see how much ‘knee slapping, hew-hawing’ stereotyping writers will try to incorporate into a series based in the southern states in order to give it some presumed authenticity. Well, Hart of Dixie does have a heaping helping of what many non-southerners think is typical about the South peppered throughout the premiere, but in all honesty, it isn’t too far off base. Despite some of the cheesy elements sprinkled into the pilot, the series is entertaining, charming, funny, and full of the best southern hospitality this side of the Mason Dixon line!

Review: The Big C, Season 2 Finale (Does snorting blow on snow give you brain freeze?)

The season two finale puts you on a bit of a tilt-a-whirl of emotions. You spin around in a tizzy with all the disgustingly funny lines Sean (John Hickey) spits out, only to get jerked into another position dealing with Paul’s (Oliver Platt) neuroses about Cathy’s (Laura Linney) medical bills and his little cocaine habit. Does snorting blow on snow cause brain freeze?

Review: New Girl, S1, E2 – “Kryptonite” (Who’s the New Guy?)

Um… I had such high hopes for New Girl. I miss Damon Wayans Jr. more than I thought I would. “Kryptonite” does absolutely nothing for me. I’ve watched the episode three times and I don’t think I laughed once.

Review: The Playboy Club, S1, E2 – “The Scarlet Bunny” (Secrets, secrets and more secrets!)

While The Playboy Club isn’t trying to emulate Mad Men (as I noted in last week’s review), it is similar to the various nighttime soaps of eras past. But that’s ok as far as I’m concerned. I loved Peyton Place, a 1960s soap, Dynasty in the 1980s and more recently, Melrose Place (the original) in the 1990s. “Soap opera stories run concurrently, intersect and lead into further developments. An individual episode of a soap opera will generally switch between several different concurrent story threads that may at times interconnect and affect one another or may run entirely independent of each other.” (www.wikipedia.org) I’d say The Playboy Club fits the criteria perfectly.

Review: Castle, S4, E2 – “Heroes & Villains”

In “Heroes and Villains,” a sword-wielding vigilante kills an ex-con and triggers one mad-cap caper of an investigation. Now, this is the Castle I know and love. Most notable for its central character’s light-hearted approach to law enforcement, Castle brings back the comic relief (in more ways than one) after last week’s rather serious season opener.

Review: Terra Nova, S1, E1 – “Genesis, Pt. 2”

The second half of “Genesis” answers a few questions I have but leaves me with quite a few more: the Sixers have an agenda (though we’re not sure what it is yet); Terra Nova isn’t exactly what it seems; and the alien scratchings aren’t alien at all.
