Poor Jared (Breckin Meyer) and Peter (Mark-Paul Gosselaar). Why can’t they find a temp who looks like her? Who’s her, you ask? Lily (Anabella Casanova), Stanton Infeld’s (Malcolm McDowell) beautiful niece. Immediately, you can see a connection between Lily and Peter, but Stanton warns him to stay away. You know that’s not going to happen, don’t you?

Sentenced to 72 hours house arrest by Judge Alice Sturgess (Kathy Najimy) for using light sabres in her courtroom, Peter asks, “What are we going to do now?” The answer – party at the Man Cave! I expect nothing less. And as expected, our frequently bare-chested Adonis Peter succumbs to Lily’s feminine wiles. Meanwhile, Carmen’s (Dana Davis) ex-lover/partner, con man Dante (Leonard Roberts) shows up at the Man-Cave. If she doesn’t believe he’s going legit, then why on Earth would she sleep with him? Love is blind I guess. I think she’ll get a taste of his going straight when Officer Munson (Eric Bruskotter) and his partner show up after Jared breaks the perimeter of his house arrest.

I think it’s obvious I love this show, so maybe I’m doing a bit of nit-picking here, but why would the cops bring a drug-sniffing dog on a call relating to a house arrest violation? I realize the writers have to find a way to work drugs into the scene, but using a scenario that would never happen in real life is just plain stupid. Please don’t take your audience for idiots, writers. Treat us with the respect we deserve, please!

Judge Harper (Tommy Chong) listening to Karp (unseen)

Unfortunately, the dog sniffs out a bag of weed in Lily’s suitcase. Forget the fact she isn’t supposed to be there, what is she doing with that quantity of drugs? To top it off, Jared and Peter can’t help her from the Man Cave so Karp (Reed Diamond) has to go to her arraignment. Did you find it as funny and coincidental as I did to see Tommy Chong (Anthony ‘Man’ Stoner in Up in Smoke) as Judge Tommy Harper, the judge in Lily’s case? Here’s this man, who’s famous for smoking pot and he’s a judge hearing a case about drugs! I love his line: “I’ve seen firsthand from this bench what the effect of prolonged use of marijuana can do to a person.”

Karp (Reed Diamond) can't believe Lily's (Anabella Casanova) explanation of why she can't stay with him

Lily is in deep doo-doo when the police find cannabis lozenges in the lining of her suitcase. Or as she puts it: “I’ve really stepped in it.” By the way, did you see Janie’s (Claire Coffee) face when Lily says she’ll be fine working, *ahem, under Peter? I knew she wasn’t over Peter! Why else would she accept the plea deal Karp offers but make it contingent upon Lily not returning to America for ten years? Ten years! Wow, that girl has got it bad.

Marla (Alexandra Ella), the office temp, shows up hoping to organize Jared and Peter’s home office. As the guys discuss the events of the previous evening, Carmen sits there paying no attention whatsoever. She’s too busy daydreaming about Dante.

Jared: “Aliens landed.”

Peter: “Took Pindar’s genitals back to their spaceship for research.”

Carmen: “Really? That’s great.”

Marla calls it perfectly when Peter and Jared comment about Carmen’s current state of mind:

Peter and Jared: “Hangover.”

Marla: “Bangover.”

With everyone at Infeld Daniels busy, Pindar is left to handle Carmen’s case. He’s so smooth in court, thanks to ingesting what he believed to be pot-muffins. Too bad Jared tells him the muffins weren’t laced with pot – they were just regular old muffins that Janie brought in earlier in the day. Poor guy, he’s doing so well in court, it makes me wonder what his agoraphobia is all about. Pindar cracks me up when he brings in Dr. Betsy Meyerson (Katie O’Rourke), a “certified sex doctor” to testify as to Carmen’s state of mind. And did you notice Pindar’s t-shirt this week – “Ask Me About My Vow of Silence?”

I love the diner scenes which usually conclude each episode. The banter during this one is priceless – Jared and Peter discuss whether a man can experience a “bangover” and in particular, whether a “bangover” with ScarJo (aka Scarlett Johansson) would be worth it for Jared.

Funny lines:

Jared: “Officer Munson, when two women are pouring milk all over each other, you don’t stop to ask them if it’s pasteurized. That’s just plain rude!”

***

Karp to Lily: “Stay with me.”

Lily: “I can’t, with my medical condition.”

Karp: “What condition?”

Lily: “Severe allergy to boredom.”
