What to do with a Nazi Grandfather on Life Support. Review: It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, S8 Premiere – “Pop Pop: The Final Solution”

If season eight’s first two episodes of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia are any indication of what’s to come, we are in for some of the funniest and most irreverent treatments of serious topics I’ve ever seen. As usual, Sunny wastes no time getting to the characters’ inappropriateness and political incorrectness. As “Pop Pop: The Final Solution” opens, Dennis (Glenn Howerton) and Sweet Dee (Kaitlin Olson) have to decide whether to pull the plug on their ailing Nazi “Pop Pop” (Tom Bower), while the rest of The Gang go in search of the Nazi treasure Pop Pop brought home from the war.

Movie Review: Argo (“This is the best bad idea that we have…”)

Argo is absolutely incredible! Director and star Ben Affleck takes you on an intense, pulse-racing, heart-pounding journey as we watch Tony Mendez (Affleck) extricate six Americans from a tumultuous Iran in 1980.

Murder Will Out. Review: Copper – “Better Times are Coming”

Threatening the local coroner with bodily harm makes him seem the guilty party. Throughout “Better Times are Coming,” he’s one step ahead of Corky, causing Corky frustration and worry that his closest sidekick might not be on his side.

Life Sucker and a New Stranger in Town. Review: Haven, S2 “The Farmer”

What do you do when you think you only have “46 days” left before you vanish? “The Farmer” grabs you and takes you on an emotional and jarring ride. Starting with Duke trying to get through to a stubborn Audrey and then a grizzly crime scene, it appears like things in Haven are getting more chaotic as “The Hunter” approaches. And let’s not forget the new stranger in town. I love how the writers are challenging us to think outside the box with the curious cases of “the troubled” in Haven they are dishing out this season.

A Most Compelling Turn of Events. My Review: Homeland, S2, E2 – “Beirut is Back”

“Beirut is Back” is filled with some interesting and intriguing story lines on many fronts, although the most compelling focuses on Carrie’s (Claire Danes) meeting with Fatima (Clara Khoury). Brody’s (Damian Lewis) friend and fellow Marine, Mike Faber (Diego Klattenhoff), asks Brody to look into the official report regarding Tom Walker’s (Chris Chalk) death and assassination attempt that resulted in the death of Elizabeth Gaines (Linda Purl) last season; and Cynthia Walden (Talia Balsam) asks Jessica (Morena Baccarin) to help with a fundraiser for a group of veterans. These story lines all have far-reaching effects on the characters, as well as the basic story line.

Old Friends and New Enemies. Review: Grimm, S2 “Over My Dead Body”

After seeing Angelina (guest star Jaime Ray Newman) in the previews, I was kind of hoping for some pig-like creatures; instead we get a vicious looking King Cobra creature known as a Königschlange. Angelina may be a female, but she’s a big, badass Blutbad, making me hope for some semblance of the Three Little Pigs fairy tale. Even though that’s not exactly what happens, “Over My Dead Body” does stir up a heaping pile of trouble, causing Monroe’s (Silas Weir Mitchell) life to hang in the balance.

The Karma Bank: Turning Players into Kings – Review: Sons of Anarchy, S5 E4 – “Stolen Huffy”

Sons of Anarchy’s season five hadn’t reached its midpoint when series creator Kurt Sutter decided to ship off a leading character. The SAMCRO members are in turmoil as a consequence of losing Opie (Ryan Hurst), and Sutter doesn’t waste time cranking up the emotional dial further. Starting with this week’s episode, it looks like the Charming folks won’t forget about Opie’s death any time soon.

No Ring Around The Rosie…Review: Warehouse 13, S4, Mid-Season Finale “We All Fall Down”

Tissues handy? Check. If you are a die-hard fan of Warehouse 13 like I am, experiencing the emotional discovery of Leena’s (Genelle Williams) lifeless body will have you sobbing as much as Myka (Joanne Kelly), Pete (Eddie McClintock), and Claudia (Allison Scagliotti). I think the most unbelievable part about Leena’s death is not that she’s actually dead but that Artie (Saul Rubinek) is the murderer. Sure, it’s not the real Artie but his psychotic evil doppelganger that resides within him—nonetheless, he’s the trigger man and that’s a tough pill for our team to swallow.

Lies and Betrayal. Review: Copper – “The Hudson River School”

Elizabeth (Anastasia Griffith) is in hot water with Corky (Tom Weston-Jones). There was no reason for her to lie about Annie’s (Kiara Glasco) whereabouts so why did she? Her excuse, as told to Morehouse (Kyle Schmid), is flimsy. I’m still puzzling over it but now Corky knows she lied to him and she’s in shreds over it.

Full Episode – Homeland Season Two Premiere – “The Smile”

As Thrilling and Addictive As Ever. Review: Homeland Season Premiere – “The Smile”

If I had any doubt that Homeland wouldn’t come back as strong as the first season, I can now put that to rest. “The Smile” is a perfect opening for what appears to be another heart-racing, tension-filled season replete with moral equivocation and personal relationships fraught with secrets and lies. It is as addictive as ever.
