The Test. Retrospective: Lost Girl – “Fae-ge Against the Machine”

The Test. Retrospective: Lost Girl - "Fae-ge Against the Machine" 1

I may not love Lauren (Zoie Palmer) to bits but I admire her skills as a scientist and the fact she’s a nerd. She made me giggle when she freaks out to Bo about unexpectedly winning a science research award, telling her a cute but lame joke: “Why do chemists like nitrates? Because they’re cheaper than day rates.” Like Bo, I didn’t get the joke right away, either, but Palmer’s delivery was spot on. Now that The Dawning is happening, will Bo have time for Lauren?

Bait and Switch… Review: The Walking Dead – “Arrow on the Doorpost”

Bait and Switch… Review: The Walking Dead - “Arrow on the Doorpost” 4

I’m curious to know how much time has passed from last week’s phenomenal episode, “Clear,” to this week’s mediocre “Arrow on the Doorpost.” I noticed a few things that couldn’t have transpired in the course of a day, but then I realized we don’t always get a glimpse of every single thing that happens in The Walking Dead universe either.

At last, Grimm returns to our television screens. But this is no ordinary return, oh no; Grimm comes roaring back, kicking, screaming, and with guns blazing (literally).

The Royal Bastard and 'Grimm After Dark'. Grimm Conf Call - Sasha Roiz and Bitsie Tulloch 6

“It’s fun, it’s fun to explore new ground, new territory with Grimm. It’s almost like ‘Grimm After Dark,’ a little – you know, racier version. So I think they’ll be pleased and it’s a good payoff after this long hiatus.”

Review: Psych – “Juliet Takes a Luvvah”

Review: Psych - "Juliet Takes a Luvvah" 7

What goes around comes around. Season six had Shawn (James Roday) and Gus (Dule Hill) joining a Bachelorette-type reality TV show, much to Juliet’s chagrin, in “Shawn and the Real Girl.” The tables turn in “Juliet Takes a Luvvah,” when it’s Juliet’s turn to try out the online dating scene by going undercover in search of a killer, which doesn’t thrill Shawn at all. Making matters worse, Gus joins the same site in search of his soul mate.

Guns, Lies, and The Real Drew Thompson. Review: Justified – “The Hatchet Tour”

Guns, Lies, and The Real Drew Thompson. Review: Justified - "The Hatchet Tour" 9

Drew Thompson’s identity is revealed. That alone is the saving grace of “The Hatchet Tour.” While there are some key moments that stand out, like Constable Bob (Patton Oswalt) gunning it out with Lee Paxton and Gerald Johns, nothing can overshadow the revelation of the true identity of the infamous Drew Thompson.

It’s Not Always Who You Think it Is. Review: The Americans – “Trust Me” 10

The Americans, especially “Trust Me,” is another fine example of what producers, directors, and actors can achieve when they really put their heads together. It contains the right mix of romanticism, espionage, intrigue, and, yes, even a bit of humor, to make you anxiously await each new episode. At least, I do.

Blue Eyes. Review: White Collar Season Finale – “In the Wind”

Blue Eyes. Review: White Collar Season Finale - "In the Wind" 12

The last few episodes of White Collar have really been about Neal (Matt Bomer) stepping out of the shadows and finding out who he really is. Between witness protection and life as a con man, Neal has always lived his life pretending to be someone else. There’s a touching scene in the beginning of “In the Wind” with Neal sitting on a park bench with his father James (Treat Williams) discussing the evidence box Neal hopes will clear his father, when it suddenly dawns on James what the real reason is for Neal wanting to find the box.

Who Gets Custody of the Gallagher Kids? Review: Shameless – “A Long Way from Home”

Who Gets Custody of the Gallagher Kids? Review: Shameless – “A Long Way from Home” 19

When I watched the series premiere of Shameless oh so many years ago, I was appalled by the depths of depravity on the show all while pretty much laughing my ass off at the Gallaghers’ antics. “A Long Way from Home” does an excellent job of following in the footsteps of the many episodes that have both shocked and entertained me along the way. Fiona (Emmy Rossum) is now ready to step up and assume parental responsibility for Debby (Emma Kenney), Carl (Ethan Cutkosky), Ian (Cameron Monaghan), Lip (Jeremy Allen White), and baby Liam (Brandon and Brenden Johnson). Not without a fight from Frank (William H. Macy), though.
