I’m convinced, now more than ever, parents from the old days were demented and sadistic. To tell a child they better go to sleep or they’ll be eaten by a mythical beast is just…wrong. As we dive into “El Cucuy,” we learn this mystical monster was called upon when evil lurked in small Latino villages and the women would cry out to “El Cucuy” to save them from the bad plaguing their “barrios.”

Secrets aren’t the only things Grayson/Dracula (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) is hiding. “The Devil’s Waltz” is, in a word, spectacular. Along with the mystery surrounding Renfield’s (Nonso Anozie) disappearance, there is drama, torture, and revelations of the most arresting kind. Fair warning, if you are at all squeamish, suck it up because you don’t want to miss one minute of “The Devil’s Waltz.”

If you haven’t caught the epic episode of Witches of East End, “Snake Eyes,” I have to warn you; you’re about to enter spoiler country. There have been many pivotal moments this season in Witches of East End, from the identity of the shape-shifter to some unsettling character deaths. “Snake Eyes,” however, takes the cake by elaborating on the series’ mythology; incorporating more plot points from the original source material (Melissa de la Cruz’s novels); and shedding light on Joanna’s vague past.

After last week’s amazing episode, “Necromancer,” my hopes were high for another thrilling installment of Sleepy Hollow but unfortunately, “Sanctuary” isn’t quite on par. That doesn’t mean it’s not without its own surprises because while “Sanctuary” is what I call a filler episode, it does present us with some intriguing secrets and links further connecting Ichabod (Tom Mison) and Abbie (Nicole Beharie).

The title of this episode is a bit of a controversy. Syfy’s Haven show site titles this episode “Shot in the Dark” while all the clips we’ve posted and IMDB have titled it “Monster’s Ball.” For argument’s sake, I’m sticking with “Monster’s Ball” given the hairy creature that’s featured in this week’s Haven, it goes without saying. But the heart hungry monster isn’t the only thing visiting the not-so sleepy town of Haven, ME. The Darkside Seekers have come and are digging up the dirt everyone is trying to sweep under the proverbial rug.
