Just when it appears there may be some down time after the defeat of the mandragora, Witches of East End manages keep up the drama with some unexpected new characters with all too familiar faces. “Art of Darkness” sets up the next phase of danger for the Beauchamp family, making the threat of the mandragora bite size in comparison to the king size problem awaiting them courtesy of Frederick Beauchamp (Christian Cook).

Let’s address the ginormous elephant in the room – who the hell are those hooded men (for lack of a better term) who come charging their way through Joan Luss’ (Leslie Hope) house? Whoever you are, thank you for saving Neeva (Kim Roberts) and the Luss children, but what the heck are you? They’re like the Strigoi SWAT Team; they look like strigoi but aren’t mindless like the newbies wandering the streets. I’ve asked before and I’ll ask again – do these strigoi creatures become more civilized with time? Are they able to control their thirst like the enigmatic Thomas Eichorst (Richard Sammel)? I’m thoroughly intrigued and buckled in for the long haul!

“Drawing Straws” has a couple of Star Wars references. Like Pope telling Tom, “Sorry, I forgot your master plan – hijacking the Millennium Falcon out there and fly it to the moon.” While there are some similarities in the premise of Star Wars and Falling Skies, what Falling Skies does in this penultimate episode is remind you of the human spirit. But let’s play Devil’s advocate – what if the Espheni aren’t really evil aliens?

“Walk This Way” is Liev Schreiber’s first attempt at directing a TV show and outside of one scene, he does a fairly good job. I don’t particularly care for the way Schreiber shoots Ray stumbling down the stairs at the party. But, even though Schreiber succeeds as a director, unfortunately, “Walk This Way” doesn’t really do it for me.

Having just been fired, Louis (Rick Hoffman) approaches Harvey (Gabriel Macht) about taking some of his old clients to help him get back on his feet at a new firm. Harvey is open to the idea but Jessica (Gina Torres) isn’t. She enforces the partnership agreement Louis signed, thereby eliminating any chance of Louis being hired by another New York firm. With no clients of his own, could this be the end for Louis?

As Tyrant’s penultimate episode, “Gaslight” does a wonderful job of setting up next week’s finale. Kudos to Chris Levinson for the story he tells in this episode, which is not only beautifully written but acted. Everyone, from Barry to Yussef to Ziad, in particular, elevates their acting as they all strive to make Jamal believe Tariq is trying to oust him from power. With Molly’s last words to Barry, one can only assume he will think hard about his past and future decisions.

Witches of East End just gets better and better. Without a doubt, “When a Mandragora Loves a Woman” serves as one of the season’s best episodes, hitting a high point with the quality of its storytelling. The continuity is solid, and the emotional intensity from the entire cast of characters is spot on without skipping a beat.

Whether it’s a father trying to save his children, a woman trying to save her man, or even being afraid to give in to love, “’Til Death Do Us Part” shows us that sometimes, love is all you need. “Occultation” is an intense and freakishly nail-biting television experience. I appreciate the brief moments of reprieve from the tongue gouging infected people lurking in dark corners, like Nora’s (Mia Maestro) mother Mariela (Anne Betancourt) vacuuming. But the infected people—or strigoi creatures as they’re known—aren’t all underground anymore; they’re coming topside. There isn’t enough of a food source in the sewers. As an aside, the opening of “Occultation” sent chills down my spine. Eichorst is one scary mother—shut yo’ mouth.

When presented with the opportunity to screen this amazing documentary, I didn’t hesitate. After watching Mission Blue, I’m flabbergasted and ashamed of what we, as humans, have done to our home, to our planet. Mission Blue is a startling revelation of how we have systematically worn away at our own ecosystem. Overfishing and polluting our oceans have led to the decline of certain species of fish to a dangerous level. While the ocean produces nearly half the oxygen we need to survive, we are essentially killing our air supply.

“Gone” opens as Louis (Rick Hoffman) confesses to Jessica (Gina Torres) and Harvey (Gabriel Macht) about the illegal deal he made with billionaire financier Charles Forstman (Eric Roberts) in order to close the Gillis Industries deal. Making matters worse, the documents relating to the deal are turned over to SEC investigator Sean Cahill (Neal McDonough), who is adamant Harvey and Mike (Patrick J. Adams) colluded on the Gillis deal. While Mike and Harvey are innocent, the deal Louis made makes the firm look guilty. Instead of sitting back and waiting for Cahill to figure things out, Mike suggests going on the offensive by taking on Cahill for malicious prosecution, using the depositions as a distraction.
