American Horror Story: Freak Show – “Massacres and Matinees” Retrospective. Darkness on the Edge of Town.

Unflinching, eerie, and disturbing are just some of the words that best describe “Massacres and Matinees.” In yet another fascinating attempt to explore the depths of the human experience through violence and horror, the fourth season of American Horror Story (AHS) continues doing an admirable job of putting a lot of twists in its 1950s era freak show subject matter.

The Originals –“Alive and Kicking” Review. Sibling Rivalry.

I enjoyed “Alive and Kicking.” Hayley is coming into her own, Klaus is going on the rampage, and new allies are being formed in the vamp community.

Castle – “Clear & Present Danger” Recap. Cuttlefish and the Invisible Man?

Deals with the devil, unseen entities, and delayed bedroom Olympics make this week’s Castle, “Clear & Present Danger,” a fun and interesting episode. While Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Beckett (Stana Katic) begin to get their relationship back to normal, a mysterious murder with even more bizarre roots puts the brakes on their sexy time and raises concerns about the supernatural.

Sleepy Hollow – “Go Where I Send Thee” Retrospective. My Soul to Take.

“Go Where I Send Thee” spins a darker yarn about the legend of the “Pied Piper” (Ryan Gray). A local family, the Lancasters, are cursed and when young Sara Lancaster-Weiss (Abigail Cornell) goes missing, her mother Beth (Francie Swift) is tormented…but it isn’t for the reasons you think.

The Blacklist – “Dr. Linus Creel” Retrospective. I’ve Got MAO-A 2R.

When normal everyday people suddenly turn into hardened criminals, Reddington (James Spader) believes it’s part of a mind control experiment run by the U.S. Government. Using social psychology, the government unlocks the ”extreme warrior gene” that triggers aggressive anti-social behavior but Agent Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff) isn’t convinced.

The Walking Dead – “No Sanctuary” Review. Where Everyone’s MacGyver.

“No Sanctuary” takes it to the extreme. As season premieres go, I’m blown away.

American Horror Story Gets a Fifth Season Installment

American Horror Story: Freak Show has broken all ratings records for FX with its premiere episode last Wednesday night (10/8/14, 10-11:32PM). In light of that record-setting performance, FX has rewarded American Horror Story with a 13-episode order for the fifth and next installment of the show, which will debut in October 2015…

Syfy’s ASCENSION Three Night – Six Hour Limited Series Event Premieres December 15

“Ascension” is an ambitious original drama following a covert U.S. space mission launched in the 1960’s that sent hundreds of men, women and children on a century-long voyage aboard the starship Ascension to populate a new world. Half way into their journey, as they approach the point of no return, the mysterious murder of a young woman causes the ship’s population to question the true nature of their mission.

The Affair Season Premiere – “101” Review. Two Differing Viewpoints.

The salacious side of me is responsible for me watching Showtime’s new drama, The Affair. I was expecting a fun, sexy look at an affair between two married people but it is not at all what I expected. The Affair is a somber tale of what happens when two people, who are supposedly in love with their spouses, meet at a diner in Montauk, Long Island and begin a romantic affair. What drives them to it and where it ends hopefully will make The Affair another big hit for Showtime.

Homeland – “Shalwar Kameez” Review. Carrie 2.0.

“Shalwar Kameez” does a good job of moving this season’s story lines ahead, and cementing Homeland as appointment TV once again.

The Vampire Diaries – “Yellow Ledbetter” Review. Crossword Puzzles Suck.

I can’t say “Yellow Ledbetter” redeems last season’s catastrophes but it’s definitely a step in the right direction.

Troian Bellisario To Guest Star on USA Network’s Suits

USA Network announced today that Troian Bellisario is set to guest star on Suits next season. Bellisario is engaged to Suits star Patrick J Adams whom she met when they both performed in the play Equivocation. Adams had made an appearance on Bellisario’s show Pretty Little Liars in 2010 and many felt it was only a matter of time until Bellisario returned the favor.

American Horror Story: Freak Show – “Monsters Among Us” Review. A Helluva Show!

Step right up, folks; step right up to the most amazing show in town! American Horror Story: Freak Show (AHS: Freak Show) steps into a darker realm with its chilling season premiere complete with what some might call “monsters.” And a carnival side show wouldn’t be complete without clowns…but Twisty the Clown (John Carroll Lynch) is unlike any clown you ever want to encounter. AHS: Freak Show will excite and terrify you in the season premiere “Monsters Among Us.” Enter the tent if you dare.

The Goldbergs – “The Facts of Bleeping Life” Retrospective. Sha-la-la-la

“The Facts of Bleeping Life” has one of my favorite openings for The Goldbergs as we get a glimpse of how both Adam (Sean Giambrone) and Barry (Troy Gentile) see themselves in their minds and then cut to the reality of their musical skills.

The Originals –“Rebirth” Review. A New Day In The Quarter.

With quite a few new faces joining The Originals this season, things are certainly looking up.

The Blacklist – “Dr. James Covington” Retrospective. The Doctor is In.

When the body of a criminal is found in an ally with his internal organs missing, the police assume someone was out for revenge. Amused by their conclusion, Reddington (James Spader) informs Agent Keen (Megan Boone) that this is the work of Dr. Covington (Ron Cephas Jones), a disgraced surgeon who lost his license after someone died. Disgraced, Covington now runs an illegal organ transplant ring catering to criminals and wealthy clients. But, is there more behind Covington’s motives?

Castle – “Montreal” Recap. Toys and Crazy Theories.

Before we dive into the ‘Where was Richard Castle’ mystery, let’s get into the murder of the week. What’s a good Castle episode without a great murder mystery to solve and in “Montreal,” we get a good one. Not that murder is good but this is a juicy case and not just because they find the body of Wally Williger in the water. Wally was the CEO of a toy company and the investigation leads Beckett and Castle to his office to make inquiries. Toys and Castle equal SQUIRREL! Yeah, while Beckett is doing her job asking questions, Castle is playing with all the toys.

Sleepy Hollow – “Root of All Evil” Review. Two Sides of the Coin.

We know of Judas’ betrayal of Jesus for the small sum of 30 pieces of silver from the Bible. And, during the American Revolution, dark forces used 30 “Tyrian shekels” to turn the tides, even making a traitor out of one of the most loyal of subjects, Benedict Arnold (Scott Poythress). And here we thought old Benedict was nothing but a turn coat, but the way Sleepy Hollow’s writers spin the tale, Benedict didn’t betray his country of his own volition.

Witches of East End – Season Finale “Box to the Future” and “For Whom the Spell Tolls” Retrospective. All Good Things.

After watching the Witches of East End season two finale, make no mistake about it. In the world of the supernatural genre, the writers know how to weave a well-driven ensemble piece with evolving characters and storytelling that pushes boundaries. In the aftermath of the thrilling two-hour season finale (episodes “Box to the Future” and “For Whom the Spell Tolls”), I’m still processing the weight of the surprising turn of events, as well as the impact they will have on the future of the series as a whole. ‘Darkness is rising’ is not only the theme for season two, it’s the foundation for so much that transpires in the finale. Episodic writers Richard Hatem and Maggie Friedman go all out with shocking revelations and heartbreaking losses.

The Strain Season Finale – “The Master” Review. Ancient Feud.

My hopes were high for an intense, drama laden season finale but “The Master” doesn’t deliver. There are moments in the season finale that capture my interests, but the majority of the episode lacks any grip. I’ll compare it to a 7-layer dip. When you sink your tortilla chip into the very top and plunge down, hoping to get every single delicious layer only to have your chip break halfway through … well, this is how I felt when I finished watching “The Master.”
