It’s usually Bo (Anna Silk) who’s always busy saving everyone else, but this time she needs saving. During sexy times with Ryan (Anthony Lemke), after she’s injured by an Underfae, there’s a curious exchange of energy between them that jump starts a series of puzzling events. Which turns out to be quite fortunate, because Kenzi (Ksenia Solo) and Trick (Rick Howland) get to team up to save Bo. I love seeing them work together; their dynamic is well suited to both their personalities, with their mutual respect and Trick’s ability to handle a highly-amped Kenzi.

Ryan proposes to Bo

After their roll in the hay, Ryan is completely enamored, sending gifts and a singing telegram to Bo. This didn’t happen the previous times they’ve had their fun so maybe his over-the-top pronouncements of love have to do with the bloody scratches on his back and the exchange of chi? After Bo gets splashed in the face by Brother Douglas (Richard Clarkin), a Waterfae, Ryan finds out about her memory loss and takes full advantage of it by proposing to her. Bo, in a childlike state, gleefully says yes. Even when she can’t remember him, she still likes him. He’s likeable, right? So why are the writers having such a hard time nailing down his characterization? Seeing him as such an opportunist seems unlike him. Yes, he’s manipulative and most likely a sociopath, but I believe he truly cares for Bo and wouldn’t take advantage of her in such a way. It’s disappointing to see this negative portrayal when he could’ve been a contender against Dyson for Bo’s love. Pitting the Dark against the Light? I would SO be there. Unfortunately, the writers fail dismally by writing Ryan off at the end of “Fae-nted Love.” I was truly sad to see this because I enjoyed Lemke’s portrayal. He did a handy job of making Ryan fun to watch.

And, in hindsight, Ryan actually did lose his memory also. We find this out when Trick does a ritual on him after he cures Bo with river water from the Mnemosyne. I guess Ryan’s out-of-character behavior can be explained away by this, but now that he’s being written out of the show, we won’t get a full picture of him. A major opportunity to bring in a heavyweight, and now it’s gone, kaput. What a shame.

Bo getting married. Someone stop the wedding!

By the way, how amusing was it to see Bo all excited about getting a wedding dress, especially one made with crepe de chine? She’s tough and wears mostly black so seeing her so gleeful (even though she had memory loss) about a pretty wedding dress was slightly amusing. I assume this was a good change of pace for Silk, and it was a delight to see her sink her teeth in and play dress up. Even Kenzi’s breath is taken away when she sees Bo in her beautiful dress.

Can I just say how sad I am for Dyson (Kris Holden-Ried)? Poor wolf man is on a downward spiral, feeling lonely and detached from everyone. But The Ash (Vincent Walsh) seems oblivious to Dyson’s pain, and requests his help in questioning Acher (Oliver Becker), an Underfae suspected of being responsible for a rash of Light Fae suicides. Questioning Acher sure doesn’t make Dyson feel better; in fact, he nearly offs himself. That’s how we learn about Acher’s particular power.  But I have to hand it to Acher—he finds Dyson’s weak points and forces him to see how he’s alienated himself. Acher abuses his power, for sure, but it could definitely be used for good though it must feel loads better for Acher to inflict abject misery.

Will apology #85 work with Kenzi?

Who can blame Kenzi for being upset with Bo for lying about Ryan? It takes “verbal apology number 85” to get Kenzi to forgive her but then all is well, and a major block in communication is broken down. But Bo has questions for Trick, and she’s going to want some answers. We just might get them by the time the season finale rolls around so stay tuned!
