“Don’t waste time on guilt…Holding on to toxic relationships is what keeps us from growing. You’re forming every time you shed a layer, getting closer to yourself.”
These inspirational words come from Adam (Adam Driver), who disapproves of Hannah’s (Lena Dunham) guilt about Marnie’s (Allison Williams) decision to move out after last week’s argument. Will the move be a good thing for the two friends, and will Adam’s disapproval be helpful to Hannah? Let the finale commence!

Review: Girls - "Leave Me Alone”– Passive Aggressiveness among Good and Bad Friends 7

Women have probably been catty to one another ever since the discovery of fire. Hannah (Lena Dunham) isn’t immune to such dynamics; jealousy eats her up when she attends former classmate Tally Schifrin’s (Jenny Slate) book party. Hannah spits out a big dose of disdain when she mentions that Tally’s boyfriend’s suicide was the only way she could write about something meaningful.

Review: Girls - "Weirdos Need Girlfriends Too”– Can Marnie Be Spontaneous and is Adam Stupid, Weird or both? 8

“Weirdos Need Girlfriends Too” seems to suggest there must be someone for everyone in this world. Is that really true and what level of weird are we referring to? This week, the series explores if the romantic ideal holds any weight, not only for Hannah (Lena Dunham) but for Marnie (Allison Williams) and Jessa (Jemima Kirke) too.

With “all of Brooklyn and two-thirds of Manhattan” already at the party, they run into familiar faces but their interactions are anything but usual.

Will her visit to celebrate her parent’s 30th wedding anniversary turn into a nightmare or will it help her financial situation?

What kind of man plays with a woman’s jelly rolls and asks if she eats for fun post-sex? Answer: the type of man who is douchebag enough to irresponsibly lie about transmitting STDs. The OB-GYN has bad news for Hannah (Lena Dunham). Who is to blame for her condition and will her diagnosis cause a ruckus in her life?

There couldn’t be a more appropriate title than “Vagina Panic” for the second episode of HBO’s Girls. If I had a sex life similar to Hannah (Lena Dunham), Jessa (Jemima Kirke), Shoshanna (Sosia Manet) and Marnie (Allison Williams), my vagina would also be panicking; it might even be hysterical!

Review: Girls, S1, E1 - "Pilot" - The Voice of a Generation 14

The concept of a TV show about four girlfriends (one of them a writer) navigating through life, work and dating in NYC has a definite Sex and the City ring to it but in the new HBO series Girls, this is as far as the parallels go. Girls isn’t the escapist glamorized portrayal of life in New York; it’s a refreshing and genuine take on a generation in flux: twenty-somethings who are striving to find their place and meaning in the world while not being ready to be cut off from the parental umbilical cord.

"On the Road" Posters Revealed in an International Marketing Campaign 15

Knowledge of multiple languages (or having a handy language translator!) is going to be extremely useful to individuals keeping an eye on director Walter Salles’ adaption of Jack Kerouac’s On the Road. Three more movie posters were unveiled today; one fascinating aspect of the film’s promotional efforts is that MK2, the French production company for On the Road has embraced an international, multi-lingual approach to marketing the film.

Review: Alcatraz – S1, E13, “Tommy Madsen” – Finale Part 2 – The Third Key and the Warden’s Secret Room 16

The opening sequence of part two of Alcatraz’s season finale starts with a bang. It’s a departure from its usual format, with Rebecca (Sarah Jones) on the ground, gravely wounded. It’s unclear what has happened but it involves a car chase just as we’re transported 36 hours earlier. Who did this to Rebecca, and why? I’m already excited to see the conclusion of the second part of this finale when I realize “Tommy Madsen” has three storylines. I love complex storylines that weave into a riddle and with this being the season finale, I expect a steep climax. My gut tells me we’ll continue to follow the blood trail that ultimately leads to Warden James (Jonny Coyne), but will this be it? There has to be at least one or two twists thrown into the mix. We’ll see.

The build-up to the two-episode Alcatraz finale teased about the possibility of the ultimate mystery being revealed. As I waited for “Garrett Stillman” to begin, I wondered if viewers would be victims of the same empty buzz syndrome present in other shows that were all hype yet didn’t deliver? Or will viewers be rewarded with a generous and exciting payback for a change?
The verdict: keep reading because these two connected episodes are a must-watch!

Ellen Casey’s body is found on a golf course with her throat slashed. Clarence Thomas (Mahershala Ali), the first black man to run the kitchen of a San Francisco country club, is found guilty of murdering Casey, a woman he deeply loves. Fifty years later, another woman is found dead and the murder scene is eerily reminiscent of Casey’s murder. Team Alcatraz must determine if this criminal act has been committed by one of their ‘63s’ or if this is a copycat crime that belongs to the SFPD’s Homicide department.

In Alcatraz, the past continues to creep into the present. They purposely return to the island with a mission and it doesn’t take long for blood to start flowing.

Another Alcatraz inmate surfaces in San Francisco. This time, “Johnny Mckee“ (Adam Rothenberg), a dorky insect lover, Jules Verne fan and bully hater who poisons people in his spare time has returned. McKee’s angry passive aggressive ways quickly set him off on killing sprees which intensify by the day. Will Rebecca (Sara Jones) and Doc (Jorge Garcia) be able to determine his motivations in time to derail his grand scheme to poison the city?

Review: Alcatraz – Season 1, Episode 4, “Cal Sweeney” – “A Protégé, the Alteration of Memories, and Safety Deposit Boxes.” 24

Is it possible to remove deviant and criminal behavior by implanting soothing memories in a criminal’s mind?

Cal Sweeney (Eric Johnson), an Alcatraz convict who robbed 20 banks in the 50s, has made his way to present day San Francisco where he is again robbing banks. Will Rebecca (Sarah Jones) and Doc (Jorge Garcia) figure out why he’s only going after safety deposit boxes this time around? What does this have to do with the past and…memories?
