TV News: HBO Renews Drama Series The Newsroom and True Blood

It may seem a little premature for HBO to renew The Newsroom, but I’m enjoying it so far, and we’re only two episodes in. True Blood getting a sixth season… only good things can come from this. New blood will be coming in and I think it may make the difference between this season and the next.

THE NEWSROOM SECOND SEASON RENEWAL

This series centers on a cable news anchor (Jeff Daniels), his new executive producer (Emily Mortimer), his newsroom staff (John Gallagher, Jr., Alison Pill, Thomas Sadoski, Dev Patel, Olivia Munn) and their boss (Sam Waterston). Together they set out on a patriotic and quixotic mission to do the news well in the face of corporate and commercial obstacles and their own personal relationships.

TRUE BLOOD SIXTH SEASON RENEWAL

Based on the popular Sookie Stackhouse books by Charlaine Harris, this Emmy®-nominated hit drama series was created by Alan Ball, creator of HBO’s Emmy®-winning series “Six Feet Under.”  The show follows waitress and part-faerie Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), who can hear people’s thoughts, vampire Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) and vampire Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgård).

The Newsroom is created by Executive Producer Aaron Sorkin and True Blood is created by Executive Producer Alan Ball based on the Sookie Stackhouse Novels written by Charlaine Harris.
