Showtime's "Homeless" and "House of Lies" Get Full Orders 1I remember the days when all the good tv was on broadcast networks, and the premium channels were reserved for movies that you either didn’t get a chance to catch at the movies, or couldn’t afford to go to. No so anymore. Back in 2010, Showtime announced they were greenlighting two new series, Homeland and House of Lies. Today, they announced both series have received 12-episode orders and will begin production this summer. Add these two new series to this year’s successful hits, The Borgias, Episodes, The Big C and Shameless, along with hit series, United States of Tara, Californication and Nurse Jackie, and it looks like Showtime has definitely become a force to be reckoned with.

Homeland is a one-hour drama starring Emmy® Award winner Claire Danes, Golden Globe® nominee Damian Lewis and Emmy and Tony® Award winner Mandy Patinkin, while House of Lies is a half-hour comedy starring Academy Award®-nominated actor Don Cheadle and Kristen Bell. Both series begin production this summer.

“On the heels of successfully launching our four freshman series in the last 8 months, we’re excited to introduce the next wave of Showtime shows,” said Nevins. “HOMELAND and HOUSE OF LIES are audacious in both their concept and their casting. They build upon the network’s successful pedigree and expand the definition of what a SHOWTIME series can be.”

Josh Lawson, Don Cheadle, Ben Schartz and Kristen Bell, the corporate team in "House of Lies"

House of Lies is a half-hour comedy created, written and executive produced by Matthew Carnahan from the hit tell-all book House of Lies: How Management Consultants Steal Your Watch and Tell You the Time by Martin Kihn. The new comedy is a scathing look at a self-loathing management consultant from a top-tier firm. Cheadle stars as Marty, a highly-successful and cutthroat consultant who is never above using any means (or anyone) necessary to get his way with and for his clients.  Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars) will play Jeannie Van Der Hooven, a razor-sharp, Ivy-League graduate who works at Marty’s firm.  Co-stars include noted comedian Ben Schwartz (Undercovers) and Josh Lawson (Romantically Challenged) as Marty’s corporate team members; Dawn Olivieri (Heroes) as Marty’s acerbic ex-wife; the legendary Glynn Turman (In Treatment) as his psychoanalyst father; and Donis Leonard Jr. (The Fresh Beat Band) as Marty’s young son. Jessika Borsiczky (Flash Forward) will serve as executive producer, and Emmy winner Stephen Hopkins (Californication, 24)  directs and executive produces.
