Ryan must leave Wilfred at Doggie Daycare while he takes Kristen to work

I love how the show uses quotes relating to the story at the beginning of each episode. It’s like we are given nuggets of food for thought.

Warning – “Acceptance” is chock full of lewd sexual references, gestures, and language.

Wilfred is by far one of my new favorite shows on television right now. The insane, politically incorrect, lewd, crude, and outrageous comedy brings a sense of fulfillment to my slightly demented soul. The more I watch, the more I wish Wilfred (Jason Gann) was my neighbor’s dog so I can have silly adventures like Ryan (Elijah Wood).

Darryl (guest star Ed Helms) greets a hesitant Wilfred (Jason Gann) as Jenna (Fiona Gubelmann) and Ryan (Elijah Wood) look on

The actress portraying Kristen (Dorian Brown,) Ryan’s older sister, does such an amazing job of being a total uptight, condescending bitch, I actually want to strangle her at least four to six times during “Acceptance.” It’s apparent Kristen loves Ryan because she’s doing “secret ninja food drops.”  It’s a kind gesture but she seems to be going through a lot of trouble to avoid her brother. Why doesn’t she want to talk to Ryan directly? Sure he flaked out on his first day at the hospital where she works, but he had a great excuse – he was trying to commit suicide. She doesn’t think highly of his recent life choices and urges him to take a job as a legal aide. It’s great they are speaking again in spite of her being embarrassed by him. Here she is, a successful doctor while her brother is a dog-sitter. I love when Ryan finally stands up for himself and tells her, “I don’t need a mother. I just need a sister who can accept me as I am. Can you do that?”  At the rate she’s going, it looks doubtful that she can.

Because Kristen sprains her ankle making a food drop, Ryan, feeling guilty, must drive her to work forcing him to put Wilfred in doggie day care while Jenna’s (Fiona Gubelmann) at work. Wilfred isn’t keen on Kristen and mocks Ryan for succumbing to her demanding nature.

Ryan: “She just wants what’s best for me.”

Wilfred: “Then she should accept you as you are. Kristen’s always busting balls; does she ever just try licking them?”

L-R: Darryl (Ed Helms) is confronted by Ryan (Elijah Wood) when he comes to 'rescue' Wilfred (Jason Gann)

Speaking of licking balls, it seems Darryl (guest star Ed Helms) likes the canine patrons of his doggie daycare to lick his balls which he deviously smothers in peanut butter. Eww! It seems dogs, like Wilfred, cannot resist the yummy nuttiness (pun intended). It’s not proven explicitly that Darryl is a “dog molesterer” as Wilfred calls him, but the evidence seems to point in that general direction.

Of course, Ryan, unaware of this alleged gross misuse of peanut butter, offers Wilfred a delicious, three-scoop ice cream cone. I seriously could not contain myself when I saw Wilfred turn the cone upside down before he starts licking the ice-cream balls. “LOL!”

Bear looks busted and poor Wilfred is traumatized by peanut butter balls

As an aside, I find it odd that Ryan can hear Wilfred playing the guitar in the basement but Kristen can’t. I wonder if perhaps Ryan may be hallucinating all of this during his semi-conscious state is initial suicide attempt. And isn’t Bear the same stuffed teddy Wilfred violates in “Happiness?”

I love the ending of each episode. Ryan and Wilfred have a few quirky scenes they play out loosely related to the episode. As they both start rocking out on guitars as Bear looks on, Ryan becomes perturbed.

Ryan: “Let Bear play bass if he’s such an expert.”

Wilfred: “Bear is just giving constructive criticism; don’t take it personally.”

Ryan: “It doesn’t get much more personal than I ‘play bass like a busted vagina.’ I can’t work like this.” <LMAO!>

Judy Manning

Dream chaser extraordinaire! Judy tends to be a tad sarcastic and kind of goofy! She is an avid admirer of all things supernatural, paranormal, celestial and mystical. She loves to read, write, and watches way too much TV. She enjoys many genres of film and music (and let's be honest, most music from the 80s). She also has a wicked sweet tooth. Cupcakes beware.

This is my new favorite show for sure. This episode was hilarious…..

“He rubbed it all over his nut-sack” hahah

    1. I know right!! I was laughing so hard when Wilfred turned that ice-cream cone upside down…and when he slid down in the shower like Jim Carey did in Ace Ventura Pet Detective…Thank the stars and FX for bringing Wilfred to US audiences!!
