Air Date: Sunday, April 10, 2011, 10 pm

As “El Diablo” begins, we are once again faced with City Councilman Darren Richmond (Billy Campbell) and his possible role in the murder of Rosie Larsen. Of course, we’re also reintroduced to the horrific scene of last week’s “The Cage” but we’re still no closer to finding out what happened to Rosie.

One of those telling looks on Det. Sarah Linden's ((Mirielle Enos) face.

The looks on Sarah Linden’s (Mirielle Enos) face are telling. She sees things no one else does. And when it leads to finding another suspect, all the better. I often wonder what makes a great detective and Linden does an awesome job of showing us what that is. Paying attention to details, looking for things no one else does, and simply not giving up. Oh, and no matter how many times Linden says she’s not sticking around, we know better. She can’t let go of this case just as much as I know I can’t give up watching the show. I’m beginning to feel sorry for her fiancé Rick Felder (Callum Keith Rennie), considering she’s supposed to be with him but is still in Seattle. He’s getting agitated and doesn’t think she wants to marry him, which does seem like the case, but getting the story from all angles makes you see things differently. It’s interesting how only three days can make such a difference in one’s life.

Stan (Brent Sexton) and Mitch Larsen (Michelle Forbes) with Detectives Linden ((Mirielle Enos) and Holder ((Joel Kinnaman)

Stan (Brent Sexton) and Mitch Larsen (Michelle Forbes) are continuing to suffer through their days since finding out Rosie was murdered. What I like about their portrayal is how realistic it is. One parent pushes through to be there for the remaining kids, the other falls into a spiral of grief that seems unending. I can only imagine what they are feeling but seeing it… just breaks my heart. The way Rosie’s parents are taking her death, I can’t see how they’d be involved. How close to tears were you when Mitch tried holding her breath in the bathtub? Forbes is definitely stepping up her game as I feel every ounce of pain she puts across through her portrayal of Mitch.

Poor Rick Felder (Callum Keith Rennie), waiting for his fiance

I have to be honest, I think the person in Councilman Richmond’s campaign who is leaking information is not who we think it is. I wouldn’t be surprised if it turns out to be that weasly Jamie Wright (Eric Ladin). He wanted to use the murder to help Richmond’s campaign. Why wouldn’t he set out on his own to continue working toward that goal? But then again, doesn’t Gwen (Kristin Lehman) have more to lose if it’s discovered she’s the councilman’s not-so-secret lover? What if she’s covering her butt and making it appear to be Jamie? I’m definitely watching her. She seemed a little frazzled when finding out who the leak was. Maybe she thought the evidence would point to her. You have to admit, she came up with a really good story for Jamie’s betrayal. All of these things and more point to why this show is so addicting. You never know who is truly what or who they appear to be.

“Do I look like a cop?” That’s Holder’s (Joel Kinnaman) appeal. He doesn’t look like a cop and he can work his way into seedy areas without standing out. I know I said I don’t like his methods, but he does get the job done. He definitely has his quirks and I do believe he may prove to be an asset to Linden in solving this case. It’s those methods that got him into the cage and led them to a new suspect.

The rain is another riveting part of the show. I always find rainy days to be gloomy and depressing and it fits right into the mood of The Killing. Not only does the rain bring in the feeling of despair exhibited by everyone touched by this crime, it also brings with it the hope for a rainbow or the sun breaking through the clouds as the storm rolls away. There is definitely more to this story, and I can’t wait to find out what it is. I hope you stay tuned because you won’t want to miss a minute of this fascinating new take on crime dramas.
