“I, Sandee” or “This Sex. Which Is. Not One.” is a really good episode. I love just about everything about it because of the trials and tribulations the characters go through. Tanya (Jane Adams) has a roller coaster day and surprisingly comes out on top (sort of), while Ray (Thomas Jane) plays hide and don’t seek with Lenore (Rebecca Creskoff) and Jessica (Anne Heche).

Charlie (Lennie James) skips out on Tanya and she is in denial that he’s not coming back. That is until she’s left with his two sons for a few days. How that happens, and how she lets it happen, is beyond me. But Tanya being who she is would never turn anyone away and in this case grows attached to the boys. Besides, she does need Missy’s (Eileen Grubba) help to locate Charlie. My thing is, why not just tell someone you need help? Tanya doesn’t confide in Ray and she doesn’t have anyone else to talk to. I know she’s Ray’s pimp, but he could help if she’d let him.

Observations:

Grubba does a superb job as Missy. Her chemistry with Adams is spot on as they stand toe-to-toe, one trying to find Charlie, the other probably hiding Charlie. I laugh while she’s talking to Tanya and totally spazzes out, not remembering who Tanya’s looking for. I mean, she’s convincing as hell as a ditz and I love the look she gives Tanya when she asks, “Who are you looking for?” She’s high as a kite or playing dumb. Either way, Missy knows more than she’s letting on. How else does she get a key to Tanya’s apartment?

That warpath I spoke of in my last review? Well, Lenore is definitely on it this episode. Not only does she crash Tanya’s classes, she brings Jessica along with her. She’s disrupting business for both Ray and Jason (Stephen Amell). I find that hilarious and think they all need to grow a pair because Lenore seems to be the only one without fear. Even Tanya can’t do what she says she’ll do and tell Jessica not to come back to the Wellness Center.

Ray becomes obsessed with “doing the trick” once he finds out Jessica wasn’t always satisfied with him. Sometimes I think Ray goes above and beyond the call of duty for any gigolo and this proves my point. His obsessing leads him to question a client about “faking it.” Honestly, I think he’s being unprofessional and I wonder what Tanya would say if she found out—she’s gotta be more forceful with her hoes! I don’t know if the reason he cares is because his ego is taking a hit or if he wants to be a better lover and improve his skills.

Jessica helps Tanya get her confidence back. I think Tanya really needs the lift in spirits especially with Charlie skipping out on her and Lenore lurking around the Wellness Center waiting to wreak havoc. “It’s revolutionary what we’re doing. We’re helping women.” Tanya is in her element and she’s taking off for the stars. I only hope this thing with Charlie doesn’t kill her joy.

Sandee’s (Analeigh Tipton) on her way to being even more ruthless than Lenore, and that’s something I never thought I’d say. She’s cutthroat and wants to push Jason to the top, no matter who he has to step on to get there. I’m waiting for it to bite her in the butt because she can’t get away with being such a bitch for much longer. At least I hope she won’t.

Funny lines:

Bail bondsman looking for Charlie: “Are you Tanya Ski-gel?”

Tanya: “It’s Skagle, Skagle. I don’t know where you got Ski-gel.”

Tanya upon finding out Lenore is in the building: “Ray I can’t… no, I can’t deal with her today; I can’t deal with that fucking cunt, today.”

Tanya to Ray about ripping weeds out of the garden: “Sometimes Ray, the roots of the weed are wrapped around the roots of the flower and then if you rip out the weed you rip out the flower and it’s dead. And then you have a dead flower that knows you’re a male prostitute.”

Ray ends the episode with a bang, or should I say a punch. I’m still trying to figure out what’s going on in his mind. He seems to want to pursue something more with Logan (Kaitlin Doubleday), yet he wants to screw his ex-wife just to prove a point. Or does he want to do more than prove a point? I always thought he and Jessica would get back together this season, but things haven’t panned out that way. So what is the deal with Mr. Drekker?
