Heads Will Roll…And Evil Will Rise. Review: Sleepy Hollow – “Pilot”

Waking up 250 years after the Revolutionary War, Ichabod finds himself in strange surroundings as asphalt now replaces dirt roads, and with a “Starbucks” on nearly every corner, adjusting to the new world will take time.Unbeknownst to Abbie and Ichabod, they are both intertwined in a destiny to save the world but their journey will be treacherous. Throughout the Sleepy Hollow pilot, there are many dark and ominous references to the end of the world, the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, and demons. The supernatural and occult theme is definitely not for the faint of heart but there is also a dose of humor splashed in for good measure.

As we dive into “The Secrets in the Proposal,” we find Booth sitting at a bar, downing shots and confessing his sins to Aldo (guest star Mather Zickel), his former Ranger buddy and military chaplain. Despite having a gruesome case to solve that involves a murder via a large hotel air conditioning unit, Booth and Brennan are at odds throughout the episode. Many at the Jeffersonian are conflicted about whose side they’re on.

The medieval battle for England’s throne reaches a major turning point in this week’s “War at First Hand,” an intense rollercoaster ride marking the end, and rise to power, of several major characters in the series, The White Queen. Unlike some previous episodes, “War at First Hand” does a better job of balancing the continuity of its characters’ storylines, as well as the dramatic tone of its heavier, atmospheric, battle sequences. “Fallout” takes us on a wild and stormy journey. So much has changed in the quaint town of Haven, Maine yet, somehow, it seems the same…if that makes sense. As advertised, Haven returns six months after Duke and Audrey go into the barn. However, time passes differently in the barn because what is six months for everyone else feels like only mere minutes for Duke. With a splash, Duke is transported out of the barn into an aquarium in Boston. How or why, no one knows…yet. Now Duke must find his way back to Haven to figure out what happened to Audrey. But Duke won’t be traveling alone.
