Good news for Graceland fans. Just in time for Thursday’s season finale comes the announcement that Graceland has been renewed for a second season consisting of 13 episodes. On September 4, I had the pleasure of participating in a conference call with Megan Boone, star of NBC’s new series, The Blacklist, as well as the executive producer and show runner, John Eisendrath. Both provided an interesting look at the new series, which I think is going to be a huge hit for NBC.

Conference Call with HAVEN’s Lucas Bryant. I absolutely adore Bryant’s wry humor and sarcasm during this conference call. The way he talks about Eric Balfour’s “great, strong arms” embracing him in a hug in the season premiere episode “Fallout” had me riveted. (Insert giggle). And of course, Bryant would like to take all the credit for the show’s success…he was totally kidding. And I had to ask about the perpetual “gas leaks” that seem to plague Haven, Maine. Bryant says that will be addressed this season.

NBC’s “The Voice” coaches have chosen multi-platinum singer-songwriters as their respective advisers for the upcoming fifth season. Cher is set to work alongside coach Blake Shelton, Ed Sheeran will join forces with coach Christina Aguilera, Ryan Tedder will work with coach Adam Levine and Miguel will team with coach CeeLo Green.

According to a press release earlier this year, NBC Universal and Hearst Magazines formed a new partnership known as the Esquire network, essentially rebranding the previous G4 network. Now, Esquire is unveiling an ambitious slate of programming that includes both unscripted and scripted series, movies, and specials beginning with the new network’s debut on September 23, 2013. Whoever said “Dead men tell no tales” obviously hasn’t seen “Happy Endings” where the race to find Juan’s (Pedro Pascal) car is on. In it is believed to be a recording that will shed light on his disappearance. Will Briggs (Daniel Sunjuta) be able to find it before Mike (Aaron Tveit) does, and no matter who locates it, what will they discover?

Syfy announces the first casting for its upcoming supernatural drama pilot, Dominion, with the signings of Christopher Egan, Tom Wisdom and Alan Dale. Produced by Universal Cable Productions, the pilot is set to begin shooting later this month in Cape Town, South Africa.

Long Beach Comic & Horror Con to announced that Eisner Award nominated artist Darick Robertson will join the 5th anniversary event, on November 23rd and 24th. A famed artist for a number of years, Robertson’s star rose to new heights when he co-created Transmetropolitan with Warren Ellis. Robertson worked on a number of projects for DC and Marvel including Wolverine, Punisher, and The Boys at Dynamite Entertainment.

Unlike other seasons, Suits has tied this entire season to one single case. This might work if you have a client the audience likes but that isn’t the reaction with Ava Hessington (Michelle Fairley). By “Endgame,” the case has more than overstayed its welcome and I found myself not caring what happened. I simply wanted her gone and for the show to move on. Although, it is refreshing to see Suits finally remembered lawyers don’t just work at a law firm, they actually do go to court.

Entering into its third year, the Julien Dubuque International Film Festival (JDIFF) is officially open for early submissions. Along with officially opening for submissions, JDIFF also announces some exciting new changes to the Festival in 2014. JDIFF is increasing both the cash prize amounts and categories for winning films. The California Boot Ride and Rally has grown tremendously over the last three years thanks to the support of the Sons of Anarchy cast and their fans who show up in full force every year. he August 25 event kicked off with a motorcycle ride that started at the USS Iowa, the battleship docked in San Pedro, with the Sons cast, and concluding at the Happy Endings Bar, which traditionally hosts the rally. Prior to rolling out on the ride, I caught up with members of the Sons cast, all in high spirits.
