Seeing Isn’t Always Believing. Review: Sleepy Hollow – “The Midnight Ride”

Although there is a saying, “Seeing is believing,” sometimes, you simply can’t believe what you’ve just witnessed with your own two eyes. Then again, many have blind faith in a God they’ve never seen. There are also those who believe in something many say doesn’t exist…like ghosts or the paranormal. I think Sleepy Hollow gives us many examples of all the above in “The Midnight Ride.”

Past Lives and Blood Magic. Retrospective: Witches of East End – “Potentia Noctis”

Witches of East End outdoes itself again with “Potentia Noctis,” an episode so chock full of sex, intrigue, and magic, it leaves some lives fair game for ultimate disaster. “Potentia Noctis” is not only a game changer, putting all the pieces of the puzzle together about the elusive shape-shifter, but it sheds light on the cause for Joanna (Julia Ormond) and Wendy’s (Mädchen Amick) 100-year estrangement.

Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend. Recap: Castle – “A Murder is Forever”

“And if you want to be invited into my territory again, you might want to re-think that.” – Kate Beckett. To be honest, I wasn’t completely thrilled with “A Murder is Forever,” but it was certainly a big step up from last week’s “Like Father, Like Daughter.” I won’t even light that fire again. Although “A Murder is Forever” has a lot of things going for it, including a few good Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Beckett (Stana Katic) scenes, one huge action-packed interlude, and an overall twisty murder investigation, however there are a few things that fell flat for me.

When It Rains… Review: The Walking Dead – “Internment”

I must decree “Internment” is an exciting, tense, and frightening episode—maybe even one of the top five best episodes. And not even because of the walkers.

Electrifying Developments. Review Haven — “William”

Just when I think I have an idea of what’s happening on Haven, “William” blows my theories to smithereens. “William” is a fantastic, mind-blowing episode that will have your jaws aching from being dropped to the floor, and your eyes and ears straining to make sure you don’t miss a single electrifying moment! Beware, things are not as they seem.

And Dobrev Makes Three… Review: The Vampire Diaries – “Handle with Care”

As if we haven’t had enough to work out with two sets of doppelgangers, The Vampire Diaries’ writers must believe we want yet another lookalike walking around town.

Love Can Be So Cruel. Review: Dracula – “Goblin Merchant Men”

Season 1, Episode 3 Air Date: Friday, November 8, 2013, 10/9c on NBC. Rating: [rating=4]     “…and Harker, never presume to defend me to anyone.” — Renfield   “Goblin Merchant Men” isn’t for the faint of heart. There are several bloody scenes thrown into this dire but intriguing episode that reveals much, yet doesn’t …

The Dr. Is In. Retrospective: White Collar – “Controlling Interests”

I’m going to just come out and say it—this episode simply did not work for me on many levels but I’m not 100% sure why. Something feels off and I don’t know whether it’s because the writers are setting the characters up for something big (like an emotional breakdown for someone) or something else entirely.

This Little Piggy… Retrospective: Grimm – “A Dish Best Served Cold”

An unappetizing quote leads us into a macabre episode of culinary frights. “A Dish Best Served Cold” is quite gruesome in its subject matter with tension slowly building from the opening scene to the end. I found myself unable to turn away from the screen because something major was going down and I didn’t want to miss a single second.

Fun? What Fun? Review: The Tomorrow People – “All Tomorrow’s Parties”

With solutions come trouble and The Tomorrow People doesn’t shy away from the drama or violence. It dives right in and shows you just how bad things can get when no one listens to their leader because the fun must be had!

In the cross-over episode, titled “A Shot in the Dark,” Haven’s season-long social media storyline makes the jump to the small screen when the Darkside Seekers, a duo of paranormal investigators who star in their own low-budget TV reality show, pay the town of Haven a visit to investigate reports of a murder victim missing a heart. Different Kinds of Scars. Review: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D – “F.Z.Z.T”

Following the Chitauri alien attack on New York depicted in the movie The Avengers, first responders were sent in to help clean up the aftermath. Two years later, the bodies of some of those involved in the cleanup have been found suspended in mid-air, definitely making this a case for the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Poetic. Review: The Originals – “Fruit of the Poisoned Tree”

The Originals is kicking it up a notch with mysterious disappearances and subtle declarations of war. Keep watching to see what happens next.

TV News: FX’s American Horror Story Renewed for a Fourth Season

As an avid fan of the American Horror Story franchise, I was thrilled to learn the Emmy® and Golden Globe® award winning series has been renewed for a fourth season. The new season of the AHS miniseries, which will encompass 13 episodes, is untitled as of yet but will debut in 2014.

An Outpouring of Secrets – Retrospective: Sons of Anarchy – “John 8:32”

The title, “John 8:32” hints at it all—this is the episode in which the outpouring of secrets is unleashed courtesy of Tara (Maggie Siff) and Gemma (Katey Sagal). The latest incident between the women causes the men in their lives to take sides. As each woman fights for equal footing, will the truth really set the Charming folk free?

An Unappetizing Feat. Retrospective: Sleepy Hollow – “The Sin Eater”

“The Sin Eater” knocks it out of the park, pun intended. After a three week hiatus, Sleepy Hollow comes to bat ready to hit home runs for the rest of the season. “The Sin Eater” makes no apologies as it roars through in a most frightening manner with talk of demons and sin. Nightmare sequences complete with crackling lightning, a crying baby, strange looking dolls, and a headless horseman – all things that would make anyone cringe.

An Unexpected Partnership. Recap: Castle – “Like Father, Like Daughter”

As the title “Like Father, Like Daughter” suggests, last night’s Castle was all about Alexis (Molly Quinn). I would have completely loved all the father-daughter scenes between Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Alexis if the episode hadn’t come to life during this season. Alexis used to be the intelligent, levelheaded, voice of reason on the show and I like to admit I had a lot in common with her. Now all I want to do is call her the scum of the earth! All right, that’s a little harsh. But really, she has turned into a spoiled little brat who is acting all kinds of selfish.

The Visitors – Sneak Peek: A skeptical scientist comes face to face with the paranormal—and catches it on camera.

A Kiss Goodnight. Retrospective: Witches of East End – “Electric Avenue”

Witches of East End hits a high mark with its latest episode “Electric Avenue.” A well-balanced blend of humor and heartbreak, the Lifetime series continues to build its mythology without losing the continuity of its storylines. Whereas most fledgling sci-fi/fantasy series lean on its supernatural elements—failing to develop its characters—Witches of East End has not lost sight at the key ingredient which makes this series so great: family.
