NBC RENEWS GOOD GIRLS FOR THIRD SEASON

April 12, 2019 — NBC has renewed its drama series Good Girls for a third season.

“We’re so excited to continue following the friendship and adventures of these three incredible women while also exploring relatable issues in both funny and surprising ways,” said Lisa Katz and Tracey Pakosta, Co-Presidents of Scripted Programming, NBC Entertainment. “Congratulations to Jenna Bans, and our amazing writers, cast and crew who give these stories depth and humanity.”

Season 2 of Good Girls is all about our women dealing with the consequences of their criminal behavior. When we last saw Beth (Christina Hendricks, she had just returned home triumphant — her plan to have Rio (Manny Montana) and the gang arrested, a success, or so she thought — only to find Rio in her dining room, with a gun trained on her bloodied and beaten husband, Dean (Matthew Lillard). As the season came to a close, a shaken Beth was left holding Rio’s gun as he taunted her to pull the trigger and shoot him: the only way out if she and Dean wanted to walk away alive.

What happens in the wake of the trigger being pulled will have life changing consequences that ripple through the entire season for Beth, Ruby (Retta) and Annie (Mae Whitman).

Meanwhile, Stan’s (Reno Wilson) discovery that Ruby and the others robbed the grocery store will test the strength of their marriage and endanger his new position as a police officer, especially when FBI Agent Jim Turner (James Lesure) uncovers Stan’s connection to the women.  From executive producer Jenna Bans (“Grey’s Anatomy,” “Scandal”) comes this comedy-infused drama that mixes a little “Thelma & Louise” with a bit of “Breaking Bad.”

So far this season Good Girls has averaged a 1.1 rating in adults 18-49 and 4.1 million viewers overall in “live plus seven day” ratings from Nielsen Media Research. The most recent telecast on April 7 delivered a four-week high in total viewers, according to “live plus same day” Nielsens, and equaled the show’s top 18-49 rating since its March 3 season premiere.

On the digital front Good Girls has broken its series record for best seven-day non-linear viewership with each new episode so far this season, allowing the show to double its digital delivery this season versus last.

The cast includes Christina Hendricks (“Mad Men,” “Another Period”), Retta (“Parks and Recreation,” “Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce”), Mae Whitman (“Parenthood,” “Arrested Development”), Reno Wilson (“Mike & Molly”), Manny Montana (“Graceland”), Lidya Jewett (“Hidden Figures”), Isaiah Stannard (“Brad’s Status”) and Matthew Lillard (“Twin Peaks,” “Bosch”).

Good Girls airs Sundays at 10/9c on NBC (check local listings).

Jenna Bans writes and executive produces. Michael Weaver directs and executive produces. Jeannine Renshaw, Mark Wilding and Bill Krebs also executive produce. Good Girls is produced by Universal Television.
