On the eve of their high school graduation, best friends Amy (Kaitlyn Dever) and Molly (Beanie Feldstein) realize that in focusing so much on school, they forgot to be teenagers. The duo embarks on an adventure to make up for lost time. What’s the worse that can happen?
Written by Emily Halpern, Sarah Haskins, Susanna Fogel, and Katie Silberman, Booksmart is directed by Olivia Wilde. While this is her directorial debut for film, Wilde has gone behind the camera directing music videos like Red Hot Chili Peppers ‘Dark Necessities’ and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros ‘No Love Like Yours.’
Unfortunately, due to the number of people in the Booksmart entourage, the red carpet premiere at SXSW 2019 was very chaotic and press had to limit the number of questions due to timing.
Booksmart arrives In theaters May 24
Check out the Booksmart trailer here.
Check out my conversation with Dever, Feldstein, and Wilde below.
