NBC’s Competition Series Bring the Funny Premieres July 9, 40 Comedy Acts Set To Compete
For decades NBC has opened the door for countless comedians and continues to carry the legacy as a home for comedy with the launch of its new competition show, “Bring the Funny.”
The network announced the 40 comedic acts vying for the $250,000 prize package and the opportunity to perform at the 2020 Just for Laughs Festival.

Why Women Kill Premieres August 15 on CBS All Access
CBS All Access announced that its new original series WHY WOMEN KILL, a darkly comedic drama created by Marc Cherry (“Desperate Housewives,” “Devious Maids”), will premiere on Thursday, August 15. Episodes of WHY WOMEN KILL’s 10-episode first season will be available on demand weekly on Thursdays exclusively for CBS All Access subscribers.

Videos: Season 2 of POSE Premieres June 11 on FX
FX has set the premiere date for the second season of the award-winning and groundbreaking drama series Pose from Fox 21 Television Studios and FX Productions. The ten-episode second season of Pose will debut on Sunday, June 9 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on FX. Pose explores the juxtaposition of several segments of life and society: the underground ball culture, the rise of the luxury Trump-era universe and the downtown social and literary scene that came to define New York in the 1980s. Season 2 flashes forward in time to 1990.

Disney XD Orders Third Season of Marvel’s Spider-Man Titled “Marvel’s Spider-Man: Maximum Venom” For Spring 2020 Premiere
Disney XD has ordered a third season of the Emmy Award-nominated animated series “Marvel’s Spider-Man” for a spring 2020 premiere. The web-slinging series follows Peter Parker, who is learning to navigate life as the teenage superhero Spider-Man. In the third season, titled “Marvel’s Spider-Man: Maximum Venom,” Spider-Man is pushed to his breaking point when Venom summons an earth-shattering threat from its home planet.

This summer, Lifetime brings viewers’ favorite novels to life with Book to Screen movies, every Saturday night beginning this June with Pride & Prejudice: Atlanta, Adriana Trigiani’s Very Valentine, three Jane Green titles, Tempting Fate, To Have and To Hold and Family Pictures, and will continue through July and August with the premieres of the V.C Andrews’ Casteel Family Movie Series Event. The V.C. event is airing consecutively every Saturday at 8pm ET/PT through August 24th. Marking the last known series written by prolific writer V.C. Andrews, the titles in the quintet include Heaven, Dark Angel, Fallen Hearts, Gates of Paradise and Web of Dreams.

Showtime Announces Official Title for The L Word Sequel – The L Word: Generation Q, Premiering Fall 2019
SHOWTIME has announced the official title of its highly anticipated sequel – THE L WORD: GENERATION Q, which will debut this fall on SHOWTIME. Marja-Lewis Ryan (The Four-Faced Liar, 6 Balloons) serves as showrunner and is executive producing with original series creator Ilene Chaiken and original series stars Jennifer Beals, Katherine Moennig and Leisha Hailey. Kristen Campo also serves as executive producer. The series is slated to begin production on eight new episodes in Los Angeles this summer.

Netflix to Produce Hello, Universe Live Action Movie Based On Award-Winning Novel By Erin Entrada Kelly
Netflix announced it will produce a live action family movie, Hello, Universe, based on the 2018 Newbery Award winning, New York Times bestselling novel of the same name by Erin Entrada Kelly. Playwright and screenwriter Michael Golamco (Always Be My Maybe) will adapt the book and Forest Whitaker and Nina Yang Bongiovi (Fruitvale Station, Roxanne Roxanne) of Significant Productions will produce.

Documentary Smithsonian Time Capsule: Beyond Stonewall Celebrates 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising, Premieres June 24
On June 28, 1969, a routine police raid of a gay bar in New York City turned into a violent conflict that ignited protests lasting for days. The Stonewall Inn Uprising is celebrated by many as the birth of the modern LGBTQ+ rights movement. But the history of gay life in America extends far before and after Stonewall. Using commentary from LGBTQ+ allies and icons (including Matthew Shepard’s parents, Stonewall eyewitness participant Mark Segal and Gene Robinson, the first openly gay priest to be consecrated a bishop by the Episcopal Church) and expert perspectives from Smithsonian curators, new documentary SMITHSONIAN TIME CAPSULE: BEYOND STONEWALL tells the story of the LGBTQ+ community in America through an exploration of rare artifacts in the Smithsonian collections, predominantly from the National Museum of American History.

Disney Channel’s Original Movie Sequel Zombies 2 Announces Werewolves Casting and Starts Production
The roles of three teen werewolves (siblings Willa and Wyatt and their packmate Wynter) have been cast for the movie sequel eagerly awaited by millions of kids and tweens—”ZOMBIES 2.” Actors Pearce Joza (Disney’s “Mech X-4”), Chandler Kinney (Fox’s “Lethal Weapon”) and top social media personality Ariel Martin (aka Baby Ariel) will join the cast of the Disney Channel Original Movie, debuting next year. Reprising their roles are fan favorites from the first movie Kylee Russell as Eliza, Trevor Tordjman as Bucky, Carla Jeffery as Bree, James Godfrey as Bonzo and Kingston Foster as Zoey, with the previously announced stars Meg Donnelly and Milo Manheim as Addison and Zed, respectively. Production begins on May 27.
