Greg Staffa

I provide testosterone to the site. You won’t be reading about how nice a actress looks in a dress or how much of a hunk Matt Bomer is in my reviews. I describe colors using words like brown, not taupe. My twitter name is @staffaroadtrip because I love road trips and have done two different 48-state road trips since 2008. My favorite show is White Collar.

Friends and Family Plan. Review: White Collar - “Master Plan” 1

But Elizabeth Burke (Tiffani Thiessen) isn’t convinced the young man is the same little boy she used to tutor. Neal (Matt Bomer) is sent in as the new butler to try to figure out if Patrick is who he says he is or someone after the massive trust fund Patrick is set to inherit.

Level 8. Review: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D - “The Hub” 2

Following a daring rescue mission, Coulson (Clark Gregg) and his team are called back to the Hub, the nickname for one of S.H.I.E.L.D’s top-secret bases. There, Ward (Brett Dalton) and Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) are given a dangerous assignment while other members of the team are left in the dark. Will the unlikely duo be able to pull off their mission or is there more they are not being told?

The Dr. Is In. Retrospective: White Collar - “Controlling Interests” 3

I’m going to just come out and say it—this episode simply did not work for me on many levels but I’m not 100% sure why. Something feels off and I don’t know whether it’s because the writers are setting the characters up for something big (like an emotional breakdown for someone) or something else entirely.

Different Kinds of Scars. Review: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D - “F.Z.Z.T” 4

Following the Chitauri alien attack on New York depicted in the movie The Avengers, first responders were sent in to help clean up the aftermath. Two years later, the bodies of some of those involved in the cleanup have been found suspended in mid-air, definitely making this a case for the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Thanks to Neal (Matt Bomer), Hagen (Mark Sheppard), aka The Dutchman, is a free man. But Hagen isn’t about to give up the choke hold he has over Neal. Unfortunately, Neal is quick to learn this is only the beginning.

Little Star. Recap: White Collar - “Out Of the Frying Pan” 6

Coming into this season, I had some concerns that were fueled by the announcement that White Collar was being cut from 16 episodes to 13 to help the show’s creator Jeff Eastin balance both White Collar and his other show Graceland. As the season premiere grew closer, Eastin, an avid twitter user, was nowhere to be seen, doing little to no press to promote the upcoming season. As a fan, I wondered if White Collar was becoming a burden and more focus was being put on Graceland.

Redacted. Recap: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D - “Girl in the Flower Dress” 7

Early this fall, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D was number one on my list of shows I was eager to watch, but five episodes in and I am quickly losing interest. Sadly, I am not the only one as numbers for the show appear to be on a downward spiral after each episode.

While Peter (Tim Dekay) is in prison for the murder of Senator Pratt (Titus Welliver) Neal (Matt Bomer) receives a mysterious message telling him he can help free Peter. Will Neal take the mystery person up on their offer or better yet, can he trust him?

While investigating a diamond heist, Coulson (Clark Gregg) and his team learn the person responsible not only used to be a S.H.I.E.L.D agent, but was Coulson’s protegé Akela Amadour (Pascale Armand)…a woman who, for years, was presumed dead.

Conference Call: Matt Bomer and Tim Dekay talk about "White Collar" 10

On October 10, 2013, I had the pleasure of participating in a conference call with Matt Bomer and Tim Dekay, stars of USA Network show White Collar. Both provided a fun look at the upcoming season premiering October 17.

After a secret S.H.I.E.L.D convoy is attacked and Dr. Frank Hall (Ian Hart), the person the agents were assigned to protect, is kidnapped, it’s up to Coulson (Clark Gregg) and his team to not only figure out what happened but to find Dr. Hall. Only one problem, the kidnappers are invisible.

Blood. Meth. Tears. Reflection: Breaking Bad – “Felina”

Blood. Meth. Tears. Reflection: Breaking Bad - “Felina” 14

Breaking Bad was almost the series that never happened. While pitching the show to the studios, creator Vince Gilligan learned about a show called Weeds, a little story about a pot-selling mom.Gilligan would later say in published interviews that had he known about Weeds sooner, he would have dropped the idea of Breaking Bad completely due to the similarity of themes. Not only that but Bryan Cranston, Gilligan’s choice to play Walter White, did not go over well with the studio people who only knew him as Hal, the zany dad from Malcolm in the Middle.

Coulson Lives. Review: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D - “Pilot” 15

Prior to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, I had two questions on my mind. First: Could someone follow the show without having seen the film The Avengers or any of the other Marvel films. Second, how well would the S.H.I.E.L.D writers explain Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) being alive given he died in The Avengers.

I’m Really Sorry. Review: Suits – “Stay”

Upset with what a circus her trial turned into, Ava (Michelle Fairley) hires Travis Tanner (Eric Close) to take on Pearson Darby Specter once again. Will Harvey (Gabriel Macht) and Travis allow their past to get in the way? This is Suits, so of course they will.

Rat vs. Criminal. Review: Graceland - “Pawn” 16

Thinking Mike (Aaron Tveit) has found the recording that implicates him in Juan’s (Pedro Pascal) murder, Briggs (Daniel Sunjuta) goes on the run, and the rest of the house is called in for questioning.

It’s Littastic. Review: Suits – “Bad Faith”

With the Pearson Darby Specter merger being dissolved, both sides are racing to lock in assets and clients with the hope that their side comes out stronger than the other.

Conference Call: Megan Boone and John Eisendrath talk about "The Blacklist" 17

On September 4, I had the pleasure of participating in a conference call with Megan Boone, star of NBC’s new series, The Blacklist, as well as the executive producer and show runner, John Eisendrath. Both provided an interesting look at the new series, which I think is going to be a huge hit for NBC.

Surprises and Alliances. Review: Graceland – “Happy Endings”

Surprises and Alliances. Review: Graceland - “Happy Endings” 18

Whoever said “Dead men tell no tales” obviously hasn’t seen “Happy Endings” where the race to find Juan’s (Pedro Pascal) car is on. In it is believed to be a recording that will shed light on his disappearance. Will Briggs (Daniel Sunjuta) be able to find it before Mike (Aaron Tveit) does, and no matter who locates it, what will they discover?

What’s Done is Done. Review: Suits – “Endgame”

Unlike other seasons, Suits has tied this entire season to one single case. This might work if you have a client the audience likes but that isn’t the reaction with Ava Hessington (Michelle Fairley). By “Endgame,” the case has more than overstayed its welcome and I found myself not caring what happened. I simply wanted her gone and for the show to move on. Although, it is refreshing to see Suits finally remembered lawyers don’t just work at a law firm, they actually do go to court.

Code Red. Review: Suits – “She’s Mine”

If you assume that “She’s Mine” revolves around a bitter battle between Harvey (Gabriel Macht) and Stephen (Max Beesley) over Donna (Sarah Rafferty), you are wrong. Instead, “She’s Mine” involves the struggle between Nigel (Adam Godley) and Louis (Rick Hoffman) over Nigel’s cat, Mikado who Louis has been cat sitting while Nigel was on vacation.

Strippers in a Bouncy House. Review: Graceland – “King’s Castle”

Strippers in a Bouncy House. Review: Graceland - “King’s Castle” 19

With Bello (Gbenga Akinnagbe) in jail and Juan (Pedro Pascal), the obsessed FBI agent behind Mike’s (Aaron Tveit) investigation into Briggs (Daniel Sunjuta), dead, you might think “King’s Castle” would give the Graceland agents a moment to relax and recover. You would be wrong.

I Need a Day. Retrospective: Suits – “The Other Time”

“The Other Time” is mainly a reference to the episode “Asterisk” when Donna (Sarah Rafferty) told Harvey (Gabriel Macht), “You’ve been over to my place exactly twice: the God awful dinner party and the other time.” But that isn’t the only flashback scene; there are many that mirror events both past and current.

Read Me My Rights. Review: Graceland – “Smoke Alarm”

Read Me My Rights. Review: Graceland - “Smoke Alarm” 20

As the game of cat and mouse continues in “Smoke Alarm,” the stakes increase when Jangles, a masked Caza Cartel boogeyman, leaves behind a trail of blood when hunting down Odin (aka Briggs (Daniel Sunjuta)). The question is who is the cat and who is the mouse because Briggs sets up a few traps of his own.
