The Staffa Corner Podcast
Episode 98
Guest: Mark Zeisler
Actor Mark Zeisler joins Greg Staffa on The Staffa Corner Podcast to reflect on more than four decades across theater, film, television, and voice work. With credits including The Thomas Crown Affair, Shaft, House of Cards, and Law & Order, Mark shares what it was like growing up in a theater family with deep connections to Minneapolis’s Guthrie Theater. He recalls how The Deer Hunter inspired him to pursue acting, his training at SUNY Purchase, and the importance of building a career on his own terms.
Mark also explores the challenges of stepping into an established television cast, keeping a character fresh during a long theatrical run, and finding satisfaction in a profession where success can feel like a moving target. He reflects on memorable projects including The Cathedral and Random Hearts, discusses the changing economics of entertainment, and shares why retirement holds little appeal. It’s a candid conversation about persistence, creative fulfillment, and the drive to keep working, learning, and telling stories.
