Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) go on their “annual pilgrimage to Vegas” and what happens in Vegas doesn’t technically stay in Vegas…Sam gets married and moves to Delaware! I’ve been truly enjoying this seventh season! The boys are back to hunting and going on strange and interesting cases. Some have been quite dark but “Time for a Wedding” makes my funny bone hurt…in a good way.

Dean knows Sam’s recent marriage to “super fan 99” Becky Rosen (Emily Perkins) isn’t just a coincidence, but I think it’s safe to say Becky isn’t innocently wooing Sam with her feminine wiles. “I swear, if everyone had a Wiccan in their pocket, the world would be a happier place.” Yes, Becky’s new friend Guy (Leslie Odom Jr.) is a Wiccan, aka a crossroads demon. I love Guy! He’s got such flare and sass; what’s not to love…except the whole demon thing, of course. He’s supplying our little Becky with a love elixir that keeps Sam twinkling while Becky tweets her heart out!

“Time for a Wedding” is full of laughs and sarcasm but it wouldn’t be Supernatural without some gruesome incidents occurring. The crossroads demon is circumventing a loophole in order to cash in the ten-year contracts a bit earlier than his victims intended. What do you expect when you sell your soul for a little success, money, power, and all other manner of greedy delights?

Of course, the magical love elixir is wearing off a lot sooner than Becky would like – I mean, they haven’t even consummated their marriage yet! Gasp! On a side note, if I were Becky, I don’t think I would have left Vegas without having a taste of that deliciously sexy Sam! She went through all the trouble so why not cash in her chips? Maybe that’s just my perversion speaking but ask yourself the same question (if you’re a Sam fan) – you know you thought about the things you would do to Sam as soon as you get back to the hotel room or even before you made it to the parking lot!

I digress. Ahem, back to Becky’s fading love elixir. She must contact Guy for more but finds out what he truly is when he wants to talk price.

Guy: “Let’s talk price.”

Becky: “What?”

Guy: “Well, we’re a little past the freebie stage don’t you think?”

Becky: “But I thought we were besties.”

Guy: “Ohhh honey, that is so…depressingly…Becky; I mean it’s…you’re so pathetic, it actually loops back around again to cute.”

Becky: “Ok, you want me to pay – fine. Do you accept personal checks?”

Guy: “No. But I will take your soul.”

So while Sam is tied up, literally, at Becky’s cabin, Dean has to get a temporary partner in the form of a scrawny, quirky hunter named Garth (guest star DJ Qualls). At first glance, you wonder how the heck can this guy be a hunter, but I guess hunters come in all varieties. As entertaining as Qualls is in the episode, the credulity of him being an actual hunter like the Winchesters is a bit laughable. I guess maybe that was the point of casting him – you can’t judge a book by its cover.

L-R: Leslie Odom, Jr. as Guy, Jensen Ackles as Dean, DJ Qualls as Garth, and Jared Padalecki as Sam

Of course, Becky can’t go through with the amazing deal Guy offers her – 25 years of blissful love with Sam in exchange for his soul – not hers. She seems extremely tempted but cooler heads prevail and Sam enlists the help of Dean and Garth to settle the score with Guy. Again, Odom’s performance as the confidently sarcastic diva-demon is impressive! I buy every single word and then some! He sells it like a pro and frankly I’m ready to do a little bargaining myself!

What I find interesting is when Crowley (Mark A. Shepard) shows up a bit perturbed by Guy’s innovating methods of cashing in contracts. “This isn’t Wall Street, this is Hell! We have a little something called integrity. This gets out, who’ll deal with us – nobody, and then where are we?” Hmm, I didn’t think of Hell as being a business but in a way, I guess it is. If there aren’t people out there willing to barter their souls, Hell would have to depend on wicked deviants and audaciously sinister criminals for their soul supply. Sometimes having a few celebs, political power houses, and champion demon hunters is like a ringing endorsement for what Hell has to offer.

There’s a reason there haven’t been many demons running amok in the past few months. Crowley knows Sam and Dean are hunting Leviathan and he’s making sure they are free to do so. Seems Crowley can’t stand them either and is willing to let Sam and Dean have free reign to kill them off. “Squash’em all, please. I’ll stay clear.” I wonder why Crowley can’t dispose of the Leviathan. Sam and Dean aren’t any closer to knowing what kills them – the only thing they know is Borax cleansers are a powerful weapon against these filthy creatures (ingenious metaphor). Will Crowley share his wealth of knowledge of these insidious monsters with Sam and Dean, or is he hoping they’ll perish at the end of their Leviathan war?

Dream chaser extraordinaire! Judy tends to be a tad sarcastic and kind of goofy! She is an avid admirer of all things supernatural, paranormal, celestial and mystical. She loves to read, write, and watches way too much TV. She enjoys many genres of film and music (and let's be honest, most music from the 80s). She also has a wicked sweet tooth. Cupcakes beware.
