“Being smart hasn’t made either one of us happy.” —Mike

If you aren’t familiar with Suits, let me preface this by saying it’s just a damn good show. It’s different from other legal themed television series. It seamlessly blends drama, comedy, heart, humor, and some romance and bromance, while weaving in great legal cases to top it all off. Suits is entertaining and one of the best parts of Thursday night television.

Suits - S2 Mid Seaon Finale - High Noon

Mike (Patrick J. Adams) and Harvey (Gabriel Macht) share a little herbal remedy as they brainstorm on how to get back at Daniel.

In last week’s episode, Mike (Patrick J. Adams) suffered a tragic loss when his grandmother passed away. He’s immersing himself in work and no matter how much Rachel (Meghan Markle) tries to be the voice of reason, Mike must deal with his grief in his own way. I think we all know he’s making a foolish move by buying marijuana from the “coffee cart guy” but sometimes, forgetting yourself for a moment and letting go of your inhibitions is what you need to do. But when the “great and powerful” Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) partakes in some recreational inhalation with Mike, things get pretty interesting. I mean, Harvey talks about breaking out the mysterious can opener. I’m dying to know what they use it for. Even Mike gets elated over the prospect of learning the secret: “You’re finally gonna tell me what you do with the can opener?”

“High Noon” is exciting, intriguing, infuriating, eye-popping, and it throws in a little tear-jerker moment for good measure. I was absolutely glued to my seat and couldn’t take my eyes off the screen; this episode is so engaging. From Jessica (Gina Torres) getting the short end of the stick after all the votes are tallied, to Harvey and Donna (Sarah Rafferty) having to move to the 46th floor (gasp), things take a strange turn for everyone at Pearson Hardman.

Each of the main characters gets their moment to shine in “High Noon.” Daniel Hardman (David Costabile) doesn’t hesitate to start the ball rolling to get rid of Harvey. The stunts he pulls are really signs of a man who’s lacking confidence in his new role as managing partner of the firm. I’ll hand it to Costabile, he really makes me loathe Daniel with a passion. But, he may be doing too good of a job making Daniel such a pretentious, self-serving prick because if the character becomes unlikable, it could spell the end.

I love Donna. Love, love, love her! “Don’t you dare touch his balls,” she scolds a mover as they haphazardly pack Harvey’s office. Of course, it’s Harvey’s collection of basketballs, not his actual balls…well, you get it. Donna is fiercely loyal to Harvey and that’s one of the things I love about her, along with her amazing sense of humor. I love how she lays it all out for the weasel—Louis “I’m a Lannister” Litt (Rick Hoffman). What can I say about Louis? He’s a bully, plain and simple. He can’t pick on the other senior partners so he tries to come off as a hard-ass to all the associates. A round of applause for Hoffman and his brilliant portrayal of a backstabbing, two-faced, piece of…ahem. Again, if Hoffman isn’t too careful, he may not be able to come back from that fine edge of likability in his character. Luckily, Louis’ redeeming quality shows when he tries to offer Donna a position as his executive assistant. You can see he has a sensitive side. He wants to be liked. He wants to be appreciated but just can’t seem to figure out how to be charming and suave like Harvey. But can anyone be as dashing as Harvey?

Jessica really knows how to play her cards right. Even though Harvey and Mike have found a gaping hole in Daniel’s armor, Jessica doesn’t pounce immediately. Torres plays Jessica with such grace and poise. Jessica oozes sophistication but knows when to show her claws. Crossing Jessica would be detrimental to anyone’s career.

Elisabeth Hower as Tess, an old (girl) friend of Mike’s

Mike runs into an old friend at his grandmother’s funeral—a married female friend. So when his advances are rejected by Rachel, Mike, still reeling and mourning his grandmother’s death, turns to his old, married friend for comfort. Knock. Knock. Who’s there?

“High Noon” will leave you wanting, no, begging, for the season to return quickly.

Judy Manning

Dream chaser extraordinaire! Judy tends to be a tad sarcastic and kind of goofy! She is an avid admirer of all things supernatural, paranormal, celestial and mystical. She loves to read, write, and watches way too much TV. She enjoys many genres of film and music (and let's be honest, most music from the 80s). She also has a wicked sweet tooth. Cupcakes beware.
