Tomorrow People (featured)Season 1, Episode 17

Air Date: Wednesday, March 24, 2014, 9/8c on The CW

RATING:

“Your father saved my life. I owe him everything.” – Jedikiah Price

We finally get some answers. The questions weren’t pressing but it’s nice to know I don’t have to guess as much anymore. So now that the cat is out of the bag, where does The Tomorrow People go next?

Master Manipulator

I never realized Jedikiah (Mark Pellegrino) was the older brother. He always comes across as the younger of the Price siblings. Jedikiah’s attitude, swagger, and overall appearance cloak him in baby brother intricacies. Maybe Roger’s (Jeffrey Pierce) beard is what makes me think of him as the elder Price. Older kids usually protect their younger siblings. It’s innate; this base need would explain a few of the decisions Jedikiah has made. I can’t get a good read on him, though. Pellegrino wears such a neutral face at times, you never know what he’s thinking. I realize hiding his emotions play a big part of Jedikiah’s façade. He has to appear impartial in order to come across as a man with no feelings. But we know better than that, now don’t we? Jedikiah is playing both sides and I’m confused. I don’t know who to believe. What is Jedikiah’s true endgame?

Random Thoughts:

Stephen (Robbie Amell) ups his game during “Endgame.” He proves he’s a man by taking charge and standing up for what he believes. Amell digs deep and pulls from a well of emotion we’ve never seen from him before. I’m quite impressed by his ability to show vulnerability and pain. He makes me believe Stephen’s desperation to have his father back. It’s probably one of the reasons I’ll continue to watch The Tomorrow People. I’d like to see his father return as well.

What’s with all the new breakouts being family members? I thought the gene for Tomorrow People (TP) skipped a generation. That doesn’t seem to be the case anymore. How convenient.

Freedom for the TP would be great but it’s not a possibility. It would mean the end of the show, right? The whole point is the good guys fight the bad guys for one thing or another. The real test is how far will they go to achieve freedom? Is killing one man worth freeing a hunted people?

Cara (Peyton List) has a family reunion of sorts. I like that the writers chose to revisit a TP’s past to bring their storyline full circle. Sophie (Elise Gatien) doesn’t play ball and throws a chink in Cara’s chain. Watching the leader flounder shows her strength. I’ve always liked Cara and I’m beginning to see her plight in life. As an aside, has the love triangle story arc been thrown to the wayside? I thought Cara was fated to be with Stephen. Funny how that changed.

Russell (Aaron Yoo) is back to his old antics. I actually feel sorry for him this time around. He tries to prove his worth but sometimes mucks it up. Not only is he the odd man out, he doesn’t feel like he’s able to accomplish what he knows is his priority in life. I hope we get to see him coming to the rescue in future episodes. He wears the superhero mask well.

Memorable and funny lines:

Stephen: “You wouldn’t have done all this if you didn’t have an endgame; a way of taking down the founder; a way of bringing my father back.”

Jedikiah: “Oh, I always have a plan, Stephen.”

**

Cara: “TIM, wake up.”

TIM: “My functions don’t require sleep. It seems as if yours don’t either.”

**

John: “What happens once we’re inside?”

Cassie: “Most likely, we all die.”

Russell: “That’s not gonna work for me. I barely started on my bucket list.”

**

John: “Russell, wake up buddy.”

Russell: “Is this Zero Dark Thirty? Give me five more minutes.”

**

“This is the moment we’ve been waiting for.” I agree with Stephen; it’s about time this story makes some headway and gets to the good stuff. We’re getting more background about where the TP name and other terms originated. It’s kind of cute to have this short walk down memory lane. It leads me to believe something big is on the horizon. Once the costume department ditches the bad wigs, things will start to look up—for me, at least. How predictable has The Tomorrow People become in your opinion?
