SYFY TO PREMIERE GEORGE R.R. MARTIN HORROR THRILLER ‘NIGHTFLYERS’ IN EPIC DECEMBER EVENT

All 10 Episodes to Debut Across all SYFY Platforms Starting December 2

SYFY announced a multi-platform rollout for its brand new series NIGHTFLYERS, the original space horror drama based on the novella by George R.R. Martin. The highly-promoted rollout sees the entire 10 episodes debuting across all SYFY platforms timed to the beginning of the linear telecast, giving SYFY fans the freedom to view the season anytime and anywhere.

Viewers will be able to access the episodes through the SYFY channel, SYFY On Demand, online at SYFY.com and the SYFY app.

In a fan forward viewing experience, audiences will be able to immerse themselves in the world of NIGHTFLYERS with episodes 1-5 debuting Sunday, December 2 through Thursday, December 6 at 10/9c, and episodes 6-10 on Sunday, December 9 through Thursday, December 13 at 10/9c with limited commercial interruption across all platforms. Weekend marathons will give fans an additional opportunity to catch up on the series.

SYFY DEBUTS NEVER BEFORE SEEN TRAILER FOR NEW HORROR THRILLER ‘NIGHTFLYERS’ AT 2018 SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON PANEL

SYFY debuted a never-before-seen trailer during the series panel at SDCC for horror thriller NIGHTFLYERS from executive producer George R.R. Martin. Stars Eoin Macken, Gretchen Mol, David Ajala, Jodie Turner-Smith and Angus Sampson took the stage alongside executive producer and showrunner Jeff Buhler and executive producers Gene Klein and David Bartis to answer questions about the upcoming voyage.

Additionally, NIGHTFLYERS executive producer and author of the 1980 novella of the same name, George R. R. Martin surprised fans with a personal video message.

In 2093, in hopes of making contact with a mysterious alien life at the edge of our solar system, a group of maverick scientists and a powerful telepath embark on an expedition aboard The Nightflyer. As they race towards first contact, terrifying and violent events begin to occur, causing the once tight-knit crew to mistrust each other. It’s not long before their main mission becomes survival.

“Nightflyers” is based on the novella by George R. R. Martin, who also serves as an executive producer on the project, and is produced by Universal Cable Productions and co-produced by Netflix. Jeff Buhler wrote the adaptation for television and is the showrunner and executive producer. Brian Nelson, Mike Cahill and Andrew McCarthy serve as executive producers. Gene Klein, David Bartis and Doug Liman from Hypnotic; Alison Rosenzweig and Michael Gaeta of Gaeta Rosenzweig Films; and Lloyd Ivan Miller and Alice P. Neuhauser of Lloyd Ivan Miller Productions also serve as executive producers.

Gretchen Mol, Eoin Macken, David Ajala and Brían F. O’Byrne Set to Star

Series Will Premiere on Netflix Outside of U.S.

Universal City, CA – January 4, 2018 — SYFY announced a series pickup for NIGHTFLYERS, based on author George R.R. Martin’s novella and the 1987 film of the same name. Jeff Buhler (“Jacob’s Ladder”) wrote the adaptation for television and will executive produce alongside Daniel Cerone (“The Blacklist”) who will also serve as showrunner. Martin will also executive produce, along with Gene Klein (“Suits”), David Bartis (“Suits”) and Doug Liman (“Live. Die. Repeat”) of Hypnotic; Alison Rosenzweig (“Jacob’s Ladder,” “Windtalkers”) and Michael Gaeta (“Jacob’s Ladder”) of Gaeta Rosenzweig Films; Lloyd Ivan Miller and Alice P. Neuhauser of Lloyd Ivan Miller Productions. Robert Jaffe (“Nightflyers,” – 1987) will produce. Andrew McCarthy (“Orange is the New Black”) will be a producer-director on the project. Mike Cahill (“I Origin”) will direct the pilot.

The series will be produced by Universal Cable Productions. Netflix will co-produce and have first-run rights to the series outside of the U.S.

Gretchen Mol (“Boardwalk Empire”) is set to star as Dr. Agatha Matheson, alongside Eoin Macken (“The Night Shift”) as Karl D’Branin, David Ajala (“Fast & Furious 6”) as Roy Eris, Sam Strike (“EastEnders”) as Thale, Maya Eshet (“Teen Wolf”) as Lommie, Angus Sampson (“Fargo”) as Rowan, Jodie Turner-Smith (“The Last Ship”) as Melantha Jhirl and Brían F. O’Byrne (“Million Dollar Baby”) as Auggie.

NIGHTFLYERS follows eight maverick scientists and a powerful telepath who embark on an expedition to the edge of our solar system aboard The Nightflyer – a ship with a small tightknit crew and a reclusive captain — in the hope of making contact with alien life. But when terrifying and violent events begin to take place they start to question each other — and surviving the journey proves harder than anyone thought.

The series, produced in Ireland, is moving forward with the support of the Government of Ireland, through the Minister for Culture, Heritage and Gaeltacht and the Irish Film Board.

Universal City, CA — June 27, 2017 — SYFY announced a pilot pick up for NIGHTFLYERS based on author George R.R. Martin’s (“Game of Thrones”) novella and the 1987 film of the same name. Jeff Buhler (“Jacob’s Ladder”) wrote the adaptation for television. In NIGHTFLYERS, in the hope of making contact with alien life, eight maverick scientists and a powerful telepath embark on an expedition to the edge of our solar system aboard The Nightflyer – a ship with a small tightknit crew and a reclusive captain. But when terrifying and violent events begin to take place they start to question each other — and surviving the journey proves harder than anyone thought.

“We are looking forward to diving deeper into George R.R. Martin’s chilling world of NIGHTFLYERS,” said Bill McGoldrick, Executive Vice President Scripted Development for NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment, “The script that Jeff delivered encapsulates this classic sci-fi horror story and adapts it to a platform where we can truly explore the depths of madness.”

NIGHTFLYERS was announced in development as part of SYFY’s reboot, which includes previously announced series pick-ups for the highly-anticipated Superman prequel KRYPTON and graphic novel adaptation HAPPY!, starring Christopher Meloni.
