I only have two references Harvey; you, who has to lie for me, and Jonathan, who wants to kill me.” – Mike

Rachel has a lot on her mind.

After being fired from Sitwell Investment Group, Mike (Patrick J. Adams) tries to find himself as he contemplates his future. Seeking solace, he turns his focus to his relationship with Rachel (Meghan Markle), unaware of the secret eating away at her. Will Rachel’s kiss with her ex-lover, Logan Sanders (Brendan Hines), spell doom for their relationship or will Mike find it in himself to forgive her?

In my “Litt The Hell Up” review, I expressed my frustration over the two main story lines I thought had overstayed their welcome. By the end of that episode, I was pleased that the Gillis Industries battle between Mike and Harvey (Gabriel Macht) appeared to be over. As I watched the promo for “We’re Done,” I cringed at the hint of a full episode of Mike and Rachel fighting over her indiscretion. As the week between episodes passed, I prepared myself to write another negative review about a story line I was tired of seeing. Thankfully, I don’t have to.

Once again, Donna (Sara Rafferty) is the glue that holds the firm together as she works her magic on both Harvey and Rachel. She nudges Harvey into doing the right thing after telling him Mike was fired. Harvey knows he should heed her advice to go see Mike but isn’t convinced given the bad blood between them. Donna sets Harvey straight, though, saying, “But men are idiots and they would rather be alone and miserable than ever run the risk of being accused of needing someone.” It is one of many great lines in “We’re Done” and sums up how I feel both Harvey and Mike have been behaving.

Macht gives a wonderful performance in “We’re Done” conveying the resentment Harvey feels because of the damage the Gillis Industries fight has done to his friendship with Mike. So often, Harvey deals through intimidation and arrogance but after Donna’s talk, it’s clear he understands what he needs to do. It’s nice to watch Harvey make things right with Mike.

Watching Mike and Harvey hash out their issues reminded me of why I love Suits and why I was so disappointed seeing them going after each other for much of the season. The scene where they discuss Mike’s options, and Harvey assures Mike he will help him find a job, is wonderfully written.

Harvey: “I could get you five interviews before tomorrow.”

Mike: “And how are you going to do that?”

Harvey: “By making five goddamn phone calls.”

Mike: “And what are you going to say when they answer? Are you going to tell them I was a Harvard educated lawyer working for you? Because you do that, I might as well go back to being a fraud.”

Harvey: “What if I can get Jessica to take you back?”

Harvey trying to convince Jessica about Mike.

Deep down, both men know there is no way Jessica will ever take on the risk of hiring Mike back, but Harvey’s offer to try is genuine. You can see it in his eyes and hear it in his voice. As much as Harvey and Mike have been compared to Batman and Robin, I think big brother/little brother would be more appropriate since Harvey is so protective of Mike.

I enjoyed seeing Stan Jacobson (John Billingsley) again; we last saw him in season one’s “The Self Life.” At that time, Stan was fired for lying on his resume and Mike has felt a connection to him ever since. The writers do a wonderful job using Stan to help provide Mike with some direction in his life. I thoroughly enjoy seeing actors from previous seasons reprise their roles in current episodes, especially when their scenes fit the character, as it does this week with Stan, rather than his appearance just being a marketing cameo.

I don’t blame Mike for how he reacts to Rachel’s news about kissing Logan. As much as I believe Rachel is sorry, it still happened and Mike has every right to be upset. While I was not looking forward to seeing the whole Logan thing play out for another episode, it sets in motion some things I enjoyed.

Donna lends an ear to Rachel.

First, it brings Harvey and Mike closer together. Sure, they were already heading down that path, thanks to Donna, but this helps strengthen their relationship even more. It also brings Donna and Rachel closer together, giving them some heartfelt scenes as Donna provides a shoulder for Rachel to cry on.

The deal Louis (Rick Hoffman) made with billionaire Forstman (Eric Roberts) gets high praise from both Harvey and Jessica (Gina Torres), prompting Jessica to tell Louis he can ask for anything he wants as a gesture of her appreciation. Louis’ request to be named senior partner is quickly shot down so he decides to take his time to find something Jessica will agree to.

With Rachel in tears in the copy room and then running into Mike at Forstman’s office, it abruptly dawned on me what Louis would ask Jessica for and I suddenly felt giddy. I immediately got on twitter to ask if anyone else was thinking what I was thinking and before anyone responded, I got my answer.

Let’s face it, we all knew that somehow, Mike would return to Pearson Specter one day despite Jessica being dead set against it. The only real question was how it would happen. I had come up with various ways I thought Mike might return but not one of them involved Louis. Knowing the history between Mike and Louis, I have to commend the writers for the way they set things up; it was utterly brilliant. To have something so obvious and yet so far off my radar, and to feel what I felt as I realized what the writers were doing only moments before the reveal, is something I had not felt for a long time when watching a TV show.

Mike is back where he belongs and his relationship with Harvey is stronger than ever. But what about Rachel, who has been working closely with Harvey ever since Mike left? It will be interesting to see how things play out with Mike back at the firm. Will Mike and Rachel be able to find peace and make up, or will their relationship continue to fall apart?

I found “We’re Done” to be a very satisfying and enjoyable episode, and am excited to see what happens next.

I provide testosterone to the site. You won’t be reading about how nice a actress looks in a dress or how much of a hunk Matt Bomer is in my reviews. I describe colors using words like brown, not taupe. My twitter name is @staffaroadtrip because I love road trips and have done two different 48-state road trips since 2008. My favorite show is White Collar.
