News: Showtime Promotes Shamon Brown Jr., Michael Epps, and Barton Fitzpatrick To Series Regulars on Season 2 of The Chi.

Fan favorites Shamon Brown Jr. (Papa), Barton Fitzpatrick (Reg) and Michael Epps (Jake) have been upped from guest stars to series regulars for the highly anticipated second season of THE CHI. The hit SHOWTIME drama series is currently in production in Chicago and will return to the network in 2019. Produced entirely in its namesake city, THE CHI is a timely coming-of-age story centering on a group of residents who become linked by coincidence but bonded by the need for connection and redemption. The ensemble cast for season one includes Jason Mitchell (Mudbound, Straight Outta Compton), Jacob Latimore (Sleight), Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine (Queen of Katwe), Alex Hibbert (Moonlight), Yolonda Ross (Treme, The Get Down), Armando Riesco (Bull) and Tiffany Boone (The Following). Kevin (Hibbert) is the pre-teen who must step past shattered illusions and embrace the normal rites of childhood, while Brandon (Mitchell) the dreamer makes his own nearly impossible leap of faith to succeed in life and love with girlfriend Jerrika (Boone).

Video/News: The Portal Opens This Halloween When IFC’s Horror-Comedy Stan Against Evil Season 3 Premieres October 31.

IFC’s original horror-comedy series Stan Against Evil stars John C. McGinley as Stan Miller, the curmudgeonly retired police sheriff of Willard’s Mill, and Janet Varney as Evie Barrett, the current sheriff determined to wipe out the demons that plague their town of Willard’s Mill. Deborah Baker Jr. and Nate Mooney return to co-star as Denise Miller, Stan’s absent-minded, do-good daughter, and Deputy Leon Drinkwater, Evie’s right-hand man, respectively. Freeform announced that production began Monday on their third original holiday film, “The Truth About Christmas,” from MarVista Entertainment. The movie will premiere during Freeform’s “25 Days of Christmas” annual programming event. Kali Hawk (“New Girl”) stars as Jillian, a successful political consultant, confident in her ability to put a spin on anything whose next big project is the upcoming mayoral campaign for her boyfriend, George (Damon Dayoub, Freeform’s “Stitchers”). YouTube announced that it has ordered a second season of the critically-acclaimed supernatural thriller IMPULSE from Universal Cable Productions (UCP). Since its debut on June 6, the first episode of IMPULSE has generated nearly 8 million views. Season Two of the 10-episode, hour-long series will premiere on YouTube Premium in 2019.
