SHOWTIME has announced the casting of Jillian Bell (22 Jump Street) in a lead role of the half-hour comedy pilot THE WRONG MANS, also starring and produced by Ben Schwartz (HOUSE OF LIES). Executive Produced by James Corden (The Late Late Show with James Corden), Mathew Baynton (Yonderland) and Ian Maxtone-Graham (The Simpsons). J.J. Abrams (Star Wars: The Force Awakens), BBC Studios’ Angie Stephenson and Bad Robot’s Ben Stephenson also serve as executive producers. The Wrong Mans is based on the BBC series created by Corden and Baynton.

STXfilms announced that Chadwick Boseman, the breakout star of this year’s blockbuster hit Black Panther, will star in and produce the studio’s upcoming action-thriller 17 BRIDGES alongside his writing and producing partner Logan Coles. Avengers: Infinity War directors Joe and Anthony Russo are set to produce and Mike Larocca will executive produce the film under their AGBO banner. Brian Kirk (Luther, Game of Thrones) is attached to direct the script written by Adam Mervis (The Philly Kid). 17 BRIDGES follows a disgraced NYPD detective (Boseman) who, after being thrust into a citywide manhunt for a cop killer, is given a shot at redemption. The film will go into production in September 2018.

Earth’s mightiest Saiyan Goku is set to return to U.S. and Canadian theaters with announcement that Funimation® Films has acquired the theatrical rights to the new Dragon Ball Super movie, entitled “Dragon Ball Super: Broly” This is the twentieth film in the Dragon Ball franchise and is based on the story, screenplay and character designs of original creator Akira Toriyama. As part of its distribution agreement with producer Toei Animation and the film’s international distributor Twentieth Century Fox, Funimation also secured the home entertainment, video on demand and broadcast rights to the film. This latest agreement builds on the 22-year long partnership between Toei Animation and Funimation, which has contributed to the global success and pop culture status of the Dragon Ball franchise. “Dragon Ball Super: Broly” is anticipated to release in January 2019. The theatrical dates for the film’s run will be announced later. Dragon Ball North America Tour 2018 will encompass a total of seven cities in the U.S. and Canada and will launch this July at San Diego Comic-Con with a special panel on July 19th that features key contributors to the film as well as celebrity fans.

FX has renewed the groundbreaking dance musical series Pose. The second season of Pose will debut in 2019 on FX. Set in the 1980s, Pose is a dance musical that explores the juxtaposition of several segments of life and society in New York: the ball culture world, the rise of the luxury Trump-era universe and the downtown social and literary scene. Making television history, Pose features the largest cast of transgender actors in series regular roles, as well as the largest recurring cast of LGBTQ actors ever for a scripted series.
