Video/Photos: Star Trek: Discovery Season 2 Premieres Jan 17 on CBS All Access
At Comic-Con International, “Star Trek” fans were provided a sneak peek at the highly anticipated season two premiere episode of STAR TREK: DISCOVERY during the series’ Hall H panel with cast and executive producers. The second season is slated to return to CBS All Access in early 2019. STAR TREK: DISCOVERY co-creator and executive producer Alex Kurtzman, who directed the season two premiere, also announced at today’s panel the plan for STAR TREK: SHORT TREKS. The four SHORT TREKS episodes will roll out monthly beginning this fall, and will be stand-alone stories, each running approximately 10-15 minutes. Each short will be an opportunity for deeper storytelling and exploration of key characters and themes which fit into STAR TREK: DISCOVERY and the expanding “Star Trek” universe.

News: Turner Greenlights M.D. Live (WT) to Premiere in 2019
The two-hour weekly event set to premiere in 2019 will feature patients battling various ailments that are undiagnosed, misdiagnosed, or uncured. A recurring panel of highly accredited doctors will discuss potential diagnoses before throwing live to the crowd for additional feedback, solutions and support. TNT has ordered 10 episodes of the series from Lionsgate Television.

News: Fox Orders Additional Nine Episodes For Season 2 of Medical Drama The Resident
FOX has ordered nine additional episodes of the sophomore series THE RESIDENT, raising the second season order to 22 episodes. THE RESIDENT is a powerful medical show focusing on a young doctor’s final years of training that rips back the curtain to reveal the truth of what really happens, both good and bad, in hospitals across the country. The series stars Matt Czuchry (“The Good Wife”), Bruce Greenwood (“The People v. O.J. News: The CW Announces Original Programming for Summer 2019
Continuing to bulk up its slate of original summer programming, The CW Network has acquired the British action drama BULLETPROOF from Sky Vision and ordered second seasons of the legal drama BURDEN OF TRUTH, starring Kristin Kreuk, and the fantasy-adventure series THE OUTPOST; all are set to air in Summer 2019. The CW has also ordered new seasons of the hit magic series PENN & TELLER: FOOL US and MASTERS OF ILLUSION, and the classic improv comedy WHOSE LINE IS IT ANYWAY? for Summer 2019. Premiere dates and times will be announced later.

News/Video: Bravo’s Limited Series Dirty John Premieres November 25
Julia Garner (“Ozark”) and Juno Temple (“Vinyl,” “Wonder Wheel,” “Black Mass”) have joined the cast of Bravo Media’s “Dirty John” as the daughters of Debra Newell (Connie Britton), who are both skeptical about their mother’s relationship with John Meehan (Eric Bana). Joining the previously announced Jean Smart who will play Debra’s mother Arlane, Garner will star as Terra Newell, while Temple will star as Veronica Newell. The scripted anthology series, based on the articles and breakout true crime podcast of the same name from Los Angeles Times reporter Christopher Goffard, tells the true story of how Debra’s romance with the charismatic John Meehan spiraled into secrets, denial and manipulation.

Turner’s TNT has greenlit straight to series Raised By Wolves, a serialized sci-fi series from master storyteller and filmmaker Ridley Scott (The Martian, Blade Runner, Alien: Covenant), who will also mark his television directorial debut with the series. Raised by Wolves centers upon two androids tasked with raising human children on a mysterious virgin planet. As the burgeoning colony of humans threatens to be torn apart by religious differences, the androids learn that controlling the beliefs of humans is a treacherous and difficult task.

Video/News: Freeform’s Mermaid Drama Siren Season 2 Premieres Jan 24
Freeform announced that the sophomore season of the critically acclaimed mermaid drama “SIREN” will premiere on THURSDAY, JAN. 24. Executive Producers Emily Whitesell and Eric Wald also announced a contest where fans of the show can enter for a chance to swim with the mermaids on the set of “Siren” and have his or her photo featured in the show. Launching on Oct. 18, Freeform will select a winner from among the top 10 most voted photos. This spring, the winner will be flown to Vancouver to visit the set.
