Filming has commenced on the fourth season of The Last Kingdom for Netflix, the hit historical drama based on Bernard Cornwell’s best-selling novel series The Saxon Stories. Alexander Dreymon reprises his role as Uhtred, joined by new cast Stefanie Martini (Doctor Thorne, Prime Suspect 1973) who takes on the role of Eadith, Aethelred’s new love conquest, and Aethelred’s new right-hand man Eardwulf, played by Jamie Blackley (The Halcyon, If I Stay).

SHOWTIME will premiere the second season of its animated comedy series OUR CARTOON PRESIDENT on Sunday, May 12 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, and will feature an animated appearance from Queer Eye’s Jonathan Van Ness. Additionally, SHOWTIME has released the official trailer for season two, which will consist of 10 half-hour episodes. Season two features President Trump trying to convince the American people that he’s the greatest, least criminal president in history as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senator Chuck Schumer attempt to win back the Democratic base from newcomer Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

Veteran actor and legendary horror movie icon Robert Englund (Freddy Krueger of the “A Nightmare on Elm Street” franchise) resurrects the frightening, odd and creepiest stories ripped straight from the headlines of yesteryear in Travel Channel’s new series “Shadows of History” (wt). Newspapers from America’s past document bizarre, mysterious accounts that seem too incredible to be true. With the help of historians and scholars, Englund makes every one-hour episode an immersive experience designed to raise goose bumps and quicken pulses. And every thrill ride is all the more terrifying because it isn’t the work of a science fiction writer, but originally a news article reported in the American press. The six-episode series will air later this year.

ABC announced that the network has picked up “Don’t,” a new original game show created by Banijay Studios North America and executive produced by Ryan Reynolds. This comedic physical game follows one family of four who must work together throughout five mental and physical challenges with only one rule: Don’t. For example, “Don’t Slip,” “Don’t Forget,” “Don’t Laugh,” “Don’t Say It,” “Don’t Scream” and a slew of “Don’t” challenges you didn’t even know existed.

Based on the book of the same name by Paul Conroy, Under The Wire tells the incredible story of his and Marie Colvin’s fateful mission – and Conroy’s epic battle to escape the city. LD Entertainment announced they are reuniting with writer-director Sean Ellis (Anthropoid, Metro Manilla) to produce his original script EIGHT FOR SILVER. Boyd Holbrook (Narcos, Logan, The Free World), Kelly Reilly (Yellowstone, True Detective, Flight), and Alistair Petrie (Sex Education, The Night Manager, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), have been cast as the leads for the 19th century horror.
EIGHT FOR SILVER, a period piece set in the countryside of France, follows the story of John McBride (Holbrook), a pathologist assigned to determine if the body of a 14-year-old boy found in the woods is the work of a man or a beast.

Lifetime has ordered two new original movies for the network’s Ripped From The Headlines fall slate, centered on true life events. People’s Choice winner Alyson Hannigan stars in 53 Days: The Abduction of Mary Stauffer (working title), the harrowing true story of high school teacher Mary Stauffer and her eight-year old daughter, Beth, who are held captive for 53 days by a former student who was obsessed with her. Daphne Hoskins stars as Beth. The second movie, Saving Alex (working title), follows the journey of 15-year-old Alex Cooper, held against her will in a gay conversion therapy home. Saving Alex stars Addison Holley, Ian Lake and Sarah Booth.

ABC announced the network pickup of new extreme miniature golf competition series, “Holey Moley.” The first-of-its-kind, 10-episode mini-golf competition will showcase self-proclaimed mini-golf lovers from around the country as they compete head-to-head through an unparalleled, epic obstacle golf course. NBA superstar Stephen Curry will serve as executive producer, resident golf pro of the “Holey Moley” course and appear in every episode. Rounding out the on-camera talent is color commentator Rob Riggle, play-by-play commentator Joe Tessitore and sideline correspondent Jeanie Mai.
