Recap/Review: Real Housewives of New Jersey – “Drop Dead Gorgas”

While “Real Housewives of New Jersey” would have us believing it’s Halloween, this episode is more about what went down at last week’s christening.

Review: The Borgias, Season 1 Finale, Ep 9 “Nessuno (Nobody)”

It’s been said that a thin line exists between genius and insanity. I believe our cunning Pope (Jeremy Irons) is standing firmly poised on the center of that line. His plan to address King Charles (Michel Muller) unadorned in a friar’s robes appearing as a humble servant of God pays off. King Charles, expecting to see an exuberant Pope after hearing what Cardinal Della Rovere (Colm Feore) had to say, is so moved by the unimposing Pope, he begins confessing his sins.

Review: Nurse Jackie, Season 3, Episode 9 – “Have You Met Ms. Jones?”

Airdate: Monday, May 23, 2011, 10:00 pm ET/PT on Showtime Rating: [rating=5] I never thought I would see the day when Jackie (Edie Falco) would resort to over-the-counter medicine for pain, but that’s exactly what she does in “Have You Seen Ms. Jones?” Not only does she ask Dr. O’Hara (Eve Best) for aspirin, but …

All the Internet is a buzz with news of Showtime putting our beloved United States of Tara on permanent suppressant pills, meaning after this third season, we won’t get to see lovable alters Alice, T, Buck, Shoshana, Chicken, Gimme, and even the much talked about scary new alter, Bryce, anymore.

Recap/Review: “Dancing with the Stars” Season Finale

Coming into tonight’s show, I would have said Hines was my favorite. After watching however, I have to say, Chelsea just blew away her competition.

Review: The Killing, Season 1, Episode 19 – “Undertow”

See, every week there’s something new we learn about these characters that makes you go “hmm….” It’s an aspect of the writing which keeps the show fresh and interesting, and makes you wonder what else lurks in the shadows of these characters’ lives.

Book Review: “The Girl Who Played with Fire” by Stieg Larsson

I highly recommend this book and am anxiously waiting to read the third and final installation of the Millennium trilogy, “The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest.” I can only guess what Salander does in that one, and I’m sure it’ll be a lot more than kicking.

Review: Supernatural Season 6 Finale, Episodes 21 and 22 – “Let it Bleed/The Man Who Knew Too Much”

The two-hour season finale of Supernatural answered many of its season-long questions even as Crowley (Mark A. Sheppard) points out that “You can’t trust anyone these days.” Opinion on how satisfactorily those questions were answered will vary, but there should be little argument over the outstanding acting in both “Let It Bleed” and “The Man Who Knew Too Much.”

Review: Bones, Season 6 Finale “The Change in the Game”

Booth and Brennan, along with the help of Brennan’s father Max (guest star Ryan O’Neal) go undercover to find out who murdered an obnoxious bowler. Angela turns to hot sauce to help induce labor. And Brennan drops an enormous bombshell on Booth.

Review: Raising Hope, Season 1, Episode 22 – “Don’t Vote for this Episode”

I don’t feel this episode was a fitting end to the season. Neither do I feel “Raising Hope” is improving. It’s been on a downward spiral since the hilarious first episode. Certainly, Greg Garcia is recycling some of his comedic lines from My Name is Earl. What I really want to see in season 2 is an interesting storyline involving Jimmy.

Syfy Picks Up Hit Canadian Supernatural Drama “Lost Girl”

Syfy announced today it has acquired both seasons (26 episodes) of the hit Canadian supernatural drama “Lost Girl” from Prodigy Pictures. The show stars supernatural seductress Bo, played by Anna Silk (The Ghost Whisperer), a succubus who feeds off sexual energy.

Review: Glee, Season 2, Episode 22 – “Funeral”

“We’re a team and we’re best when we work as one.” Glee’s penultimate episode of season two, “Funeral,” had some powerful moments, especially for anyone who has ever lost someone close to them. As is often the case with Glee, it’s only when you look beyond the surface that you appreciate how well each element of the show ties in.

Movie Corner: Advance Review – Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

Can you smell the salty air as your hair whips in the wind while sailing across the ocean blue? Can you taste the rejuvenating waters of the Fountain of Youth? Captain Jack is back! With more supernatural elements, including the enchanted sword of Blackbeard and the mythical mermaids, POTC4 is thoroughly entertaining.

Review: United States of Tara, Season 3, Ep 308 “Chicken ‘n’ Corn”

“Chicken ‘n’ Corn” sounds delicious, but it’s not that kind of chicken. While at a local fair in a corn field, one of the scarecrows jumps out towards Tara (Toni Collette), startling her so badly she transitions into Chicken, her childlike alter. Without the guidance of Dr. Hattaras (guest star Eddie Izzard), it seems Tara is beginning to transition more frequently. Or could it be something else causing her alters to stir?

Recap/Review: The Real Housewives of New Jersey, Season 3, Episode 1 – “In the Name of the Father”

Finally, we’re done with the drama known as Danielle Staub! I had gotten to the point last year when I seriously considered giving up RHONJ. From the looks of the season opener, though, there will be plenty of drama this year with the addition of Kathy Wakile and Melissa Gorga, both of whom are related to Teresa Giudice.

The Karate Kid Goes Home: Recap/Review, “Dancing with the Stars – The Results Show,” Week 9 Semi-Finals

Dancing with the stars generic logo

So here we have it dance fans. Ralph Macchio, aka “The Karate Kid,” is going home. Although I predicted it in yesterday’s Recap/Review, I have to say I’m a little disappointed. I loved watching Ralph grow into a wonderful dancer this season. No matter what happened, he’s still a winner in my book. For a recap of the evening’s events, including the first hour of the show, read on.

Review: The Borgias, Season 1, Ep 108 “The Art of War”

Giulia and Lucrezia are captured by the French army and held captive; The College of Cardinals abandon the Pope as they flee Rome; Juan’s military prowess is lacking; Cesare continues to chase after Ursula.

ABC Unveils an Ambitious New Line-Up for its 2011-12 Season

It looks to me like ABC is totally revamping its schedule for next year with the addition of 13 new shows and the cancellation of six. Joining the already-renewed Body of Proof and Happy Endings are the new dramas Charlie’s Angels, Good Christian Belles (formerly known as “Good Christian Bitches”), Pan Am, Revenge, Once Upon A Time, Scandal, Missing, and The River. New comedies include Work It, Man Up, Apartment 23, Last Man Standing and Suburgatory.

Fox Announces An Interesting Slate for 2011-12

Since I previously expressed my displeasure with the cancellations of some of my favorite Fox shows, it is only right that I now tell you what I think about Fox’s announcement of its 2011-12 television season that was unveiled today by Peter Rice, Chairman, Entertainment, Fox Networks Group, and Kevin Reilly, President, Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company.
