Fargo Conference Call with Glenn Howerton 1

On May 16, I had the opportunity to participate in a conference call with Glenn Howerton, co-star of the FX series Fargo. The series was developed and written by Noah Hawley and is based on the 1996 Coen Brothers’ film of the same name. Howerton plays Don Chumph, the lovable yet dim-witted personal trainer who ends up blackmailing Stavros Milos (Oliver Platt).

The Originals – “From a Cradle to a Grave” Season Finale Review. Now This Is A Finale! 6

This is, by far, the best episode of The Originals to date. It packs a major punch and does exactly what a good season finale is supposed to do.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. – Season Finale “Beginning of the End” Retrospective. Hey-Ho Friends 8

As Coulson (Clark Gregg) and his team infultrate the Cybertek facility, they come face to face with several Centipede soldiers. Will Skye be able to activate her computer trojan before it’s too late, and will there be enough time to rescue Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) and Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) who are stuck in a container at the bottom of the ocean? It all makes for an action packed season finale.

The Americans – “Operation Chronicle” Review. Operation Jared.

The Americans – “Operation Chronicle” Review. Operation Jared. 9

As penultimate episodes go, “Operation Chronicle” hits it out of the park. The writing is fantastic, the acting superb, and it sets up the season finale perfectly, giving its audience plenty to think about and many questions to be answered.

TNT’s New Drama Series ‘Murder in the First’

TNT's New Drama Series ‘Murder in the First’ 11

This summer, TNT is going to take an up-close and personal look at a complex homicide investigation in Murder in the First, a powerful scripted drama co-created by Emmy®-winner Steven Bochco and newcomer Eric Lodal. Murder in the First stars Taye Diggs (Private Practice) and Kathleen Robertson (Boss). Set in San Francisco, Murder in the First will follow a single case across an entire season. The series follows homicide detectives Terry English (Diggs) and Hildy Mulligan (Robertson) as they investigate two seemingly unrelated murders. The mystery deepens, however, when they find both murders have a common denominator in Silicon Valley wunderkind Erich Blunt (Tom Felton).

Fargo - “The Six Ungraspables” Recap. Socks and a Gun. 12

With Lester (Martin Freeman) in jail and Deputy Molly Solverson (Allison Tolman) getting closer to finding the truth about the murders, it seems only a matter of time before Lester’s life unraveled. but the question is — will it be at the hands of Molly or Mr. Numbers (Adam Goldberg) and Mr. Wrench (Russell Harvard)?

Warehouse 13 – “Cangku Shisi” Recap. Move to China?

Warehouse 13 – “Cangku Shisi” Recap. Move to China? 14

With the series finale looming, I anticipated the penultimate episode, “Cangku Shisi” to be a bit more…more; you know. While there is the element of despair coursing throughout the episode as Benedict Valda (guest star Mark Sheppard) tries to steal the warehouse right from under our beloved agents’ feet—and seemingly does a great job at it—I don’t worry too much because for some reason, I know the warehouse is not going to end up in China. Or so I thought.

Salem – “Survivors” Retrospective.  Dirty Little Secrets.

Salem – “Survivors” Retrospective.  Dirty Little Secrets. 15

Salem hits major turning points in this week’s episode, “Survivors,” giving its viewers new insight about the show’s core characters without any distractions like say, oh, another execution. There is heavier emphasis on the power play and inner turmoil among the coven set to take over Salem versus the killings needed to finish their sacrificial ritual known as “the grand rite.” Captain John Alden’s (Shane West) mysterious past becomes a focal point when a familiar face enters town, and the Grande Dame Mary Sibley (Janet Montgomery) finds herself almost at a disadvantage against an enemy.

Fargo Conference Call with Oliver Platt

Fargo Conference Call with Oliver Platt 16

I’ve been a fan of Oliver Platt’s ever since his appearance in the Disney movies Tall Tale and The Three Musketeers and on May 9, during a conference call, I was able to ask him a few questions about his role on the new FX series, Fargo. The series is developed and written by Noah Hawley which is based on the 1996 Coen Brothers’ film of the same name. Platt plays Stavros Milos, Supermarket King of Minnesota.

The Vampire Diaries – “Promised Land” Review. Two Steps Forward…You Know The Rest

The Vampire Diaries – “Promised Land” Review. Two Steps Forward…You Know The Rest 18

The Vampire Diaries (TVD) hits a snag with “Promised Land.” Truth: I was bored through three-quarters of the episode. Truth: I may have watched “Promised Land” three times because I couldn’t figure out what was going on. Truth: I’m curious about the direction of the Traveler storyline but no longer care as much as I did.

Grimm – “The Inheritance” Recap. Witch’s Brew.

Grimm – “The Inheritance” Recap. Witch’s Brew. 19

“The Inheritance” is a thought provoking episode, giving us a few more things to question without providing answers to much else. The Verrat know there is another key so it’s only a matter of time before the royals find out. Adalind’s twisted witch’s brew is complete and her transformation is…let’s just say I’m reminded of the polyjuice potion from Harry Potter, and she even has a witch’s hat she uses as a bong of sorts to inhale the fumes of the concoction.

The Originals – “The Battle of New Orleans” Review. Biting Off More Than You Can Chew.

The Originals – “The Battle of New Orleans” Review. Biting Off More Than You Can Chew. 20

One minor inconsistency in a sea of awesomeness doesn’t ruin “The Battle of New Orleans.” Next week’s finale will certainly be a catch-22 for me.

Exclusive Scene from The Americans – “Operation Chronicle”

With only two episodes left in the brilliantly scripted FX spy series, The Americans, I am chomping at the bit for any insight into what next week’s episode has in store for Philip (Matthew Rhys) and Elizabeth (Keri Russell). To say nothing of Stan (Noah Emmerich) and Nina (Annet Mahendru), Nina and Oleg (Costa Ronin), Jared (Owen …
