Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce – “Rule No. 3: Don’t Stand in the Doorway” Retrospective. Facing Your Fears. 1

“Rule No. 3: Don’t Stand in the Doorway” does a great job of addressing the fears in all of us. From the simplest—Charlie’s fear of the dark—to the more serious—Delia’s fear of commitment, and Abby’s avoidance of Will (Warren Christie), everyone faces their worst fears in “Rule No. 3.”

Shameless – “A Night to Remem-Wait, What?” Review. Easy Come, Easy Go

Shameless - "A Night to Remem-Wait, What?" Review. Easy Come, Easy Go 5

“A Night to Remem-Wait, What?” is, without a doubt, the best episode of the season so far. Episodic writer Davey Holmes outdoes himself with the ongoing story lines and brilliant dialogue. The episode revolves mainly around Fiona and Frank, and both Rossum and Macy steal almost every scene they’re in.

Grab a drink and hold on tight because Black Sails is a doozy this week. If “X” is any indication of how dark and disturbing the season will be for the characters in Black Sails, then no one is safe.

When was the last time you saw Jason Statham in a good film? Let me save you the trouble of looking at IMDb; it’s been awhile…

The Americans Season 3 Premiere – “EST Men” Review. The Saga Continues.

The Americans Season 3 Premiere – “EST Men” Review. The Saga Continues. 12

“EST Men” unfortunately lacks the suspense, intensity, and passion that was so prevalent in previous seasons, except for the opening scene, which had me holding my breath. That is not to say I didn’t enjoy the season premiere, as I did. “EST Men” is too busy setting up the third season of The Americans to include the same level of action sequences we’ve seen before. It would be unreasonable to expect that. I’m sure there will be plenty of edge-of-your-seat scenes to thrill us as the season moves forward.

Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce – “Rule 32: F-You, Rob Frumpkis!” Retrospective. Lessons Learned. 13

I can always tell when Noxon puts on her writer’s cap—I find myself with an idiotic Cheshire grin on my face throughout the majority of the episode. “Rule 32” fits the bill, particularly during Edelstein and Christie’s scenes together. They have such amazing chemistry onscreen, I could almost close my eyes and feel the emotions bouncing off them. Of course, director Robert Duncan McNeill deserves kudos for the way he sets up the scenes.

Sleepy Hollow – “Kali Yuga” Recap. Karaoke and Family Drama. 14

“Kali Yuga” presents us with an interesting dilemma involving the handsome Nick Hawley (Matt Barr). Hawley has always been a private guy; he doesn’t talk much about himself or his past, but his past is about to pay him a surprise visit in the form of Carmilla Pines (guest star Jaime Murray).

Justified – “Cash Game” Review. All Aboard the Choo-Choo Train.

Justified – “Cash Game” Review. All Aboard the Choo-Choo Train. 15

Colorful characters and good intentions abound in “Cash Game.” After Boyd (Walton Goggins) robs the bank in “Fate’s Right Hand,” he’s not sure if what he finds in Calhoun’s (actor name) safe deposit box is worth the “three million” he was told by Katherine Hale (Mary Steenburgen) and Wynn Duffy (Jere Burns). But, there’s more than one way to skin a cat…

Suits – Midseason Premiere “Enough is Enough” Retrospective. Louis Litt Day.

Suits - Midseason Premiere “Enough is Enough” Retrospective. Louis Litt Day. 21

As the Suits midseason premiere approached, I was cautiously optimistic about things to come. As someone who’s not a fan of excessive internal conflict among central characters, I mentally prepared myself for the fallout that was seemingly inevitable due to Louis (Rick Hoffman) learning the truth about Mike (Patrick J. Adams).

Black Sails – "IX” Season 2 Premiere Retrospective. It's About Time! 24

Black Sails is back with a vengeance in the season two premiere “IX.” Well worth the wait, Starz’s pirate saga doesn’t disappoint as it gets down to the nitty-gritty events left in the wake of season one’s finale, “VIII.” Full of impressive action sequences and sharp dialogue, “IX” leaves you wanting more by the end.

Grimm – “Tribunal” Recap. The New Normal.

Grimm – “Tribunal” Recap. The New Normal. 25

“Tribunal” picks up exactly where “Wesenrein” left off with Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell) shackled, standing among a sea of cloaked figures chanting “Wesenrein” over and over. “Grandmaster” Charlie Riken (Brandon Quinn) presides over the so-called trial accusing Monroe of “violating the law” by “marrying outside of your bloodline” and “the befriending of a Grimm.” Back at the precinct, Captain Renard (Sasha Roiz) is concerned about Sgt. Wu (Reggie Lee) so he asks Nick (David Giuntoli) and Hank (Russell Hornsby) to make sure Wu can handle it when a Wesen “woges.” Meanwhile, Juliette (Bitsie Tulloch) and Rosalee (Bree Turner) continue to review the wedding guest list to figure out who betrayed Rosalee and Monroe to the Wesenrein.

American Horror Story: Freak Show – "Curtain Call” Retrospective. Life After Mars. 26

After a season of watching nightmarish clowns, psychopathic killers, and a homicidal ventriloquist terrorize the town of Jupiter, my expectations going into the finale of American Horror Story: Freak Show (AHS: Freak Show) were pretty high. So imagine my surprise when what I expected to see—abundant gore and a literal blood bath—evolved into something poignant and heartfelt by the end.
