The Bastard Executioner – “Pilot” Review. Blood, Blood and Blood.

Set in Wales during the 14th century, The Bastard Executioner (TBX) is the tale of Wilkin Brattle (Lee Jones), a knight in King Edward’s (unseen) army. Upon his return from war, Brattle vows to lay down his sword to focus on life with his expectant wife Petra (Elen Rhys). But when violence finds him, Brattle must choose to keep his vow or seek vengeance.

Starz to Co-Produce Stephen Poliakoff’s CLOSE TO THE ENEMY Miniseries

Set in a bomb-damaged London hotel during the aftermath of World War II, Close to the Enemy is a thriller that follows British intelligence officer Captain Callum Ferguson (Jim Sturgess), whose last task for the Army is to ensure that a captured German scientist, Dieter (August Diehl), hands over secret cutting-edge military technology crucial to national security. Callum employs unorthodox methods in his attempt to convince Dieter to work for the British, developing a friendship with him, which is soon threatened as the German’s involvement in the Nazi war machine may be more than it initially seems.

Blindspot Series Premiere – “Pilot” Advance Review. Who is Jane Doe?

Who is Jane Doe? Where did she come from? Who tattooed her entire body with specific clues that lead to people, places, and events yet to occur? These are just a few of the questions lingering on the tip of my tongue after watching the premiere of NBC’s new drama Blindspot. Jaime Alexander’s magnetic performance as Jane Doe, both physically and emotionally, keeps you transfixed to the screen. Alexander is convincing as a woman plagued with amnesia and also credible as a kick-ass operative. (She is, after all, Lady Sif of Asgard in the Thor films). Is Jane part of an elite military unit? It’s not quite clear yet but the small clues sprinkled throughout “Pilot” seem to suggest her amnesia may not be an accident.

Ray Donovan – “One Night in Yerevan” Retrospective. At What Price?

Ray Donovan is one of my favorite television shows and it kills me to give “One Night in Yerevan” such a negative review. While the acting is outstanding as usual, the dialogue almost completely misses the mark.

Dominion – “House of Sacrifice” Retrospective. A Time for Goodbyes.

As we inch closer toward the season finale of Dominion, the level of suspense and tragedy are two-fold in “House of Sacrifice.” Despite the multitudes of death and shocking revelations thus far this season, I still have yet to become desensitized by them. Although the death toll is small in number, each of those deaths—figuratively and literally—has a major impact.

Ray Donovan – “The Octopus” Retrospective. Love Conquers All.

A large part of “The Octopus” deals with Bunchy—his relationship with Teresa, his feelings about the way his big brother Ray treats him, and his new job with his father, Mickey. Major kudos to Mihok for his portrayal of Bunchy not only in “The Octopus,” but throughout this entire season.

In one form or another, it appears all roads lead to Vega in “The Seed of Evil,” where lives are once again in peril, and the mother of all showdowns between humans and angels is on the horizon.
