Grimm – “Lost Boys” Review. Smothered Love.

Grimm – “Lost Boys” Review. Smothered Love. 2

There is no shortage of mommy issues on Grimm. Whether it is some twisted Aswang tradition of consuming a son’s firstborn, or finding out your mother isn’t dead like you thought, the writers really know how to contort the notion of a mother’s love. “Lost Boys” takes us on a sad and perplexing journey with four orphaned children on the run, desperately seeking a mother’s love, even if the love isn’t given willingly. Buried in the subset of “Lost Boys” lies the ongoing saga of the Wesen uprising and the meaning of “Occultatum Libera” becomes much more significant.

American Horror Story: Hotel – "Room 33” Review. Here Be Monsters. 5

American Horror Story: Hotel (AHS: Hotel) picks up the pace this week in “Room 33” with several intriguing flashback sequences and critical plot points revolving around the power of the Hotel Cortez. Unfortunately, it’s too little, too late at this point of the season; the attention to sensationalized gore and violence take away from the character development within the story lines.

The Goldbergs – “Lucky” Recap. Secret of Womanhood. 6

Growing up, my family never had pets, not even a fish. Turns out Murray (Jeff Garlin) has a no pet policy similar to the one my parents had but with one slight difference. Instead of telling Barry (Troy Gentile) no as a child, he was told the family couldn’t get a dog because he’s deathly allergic to them. Watching Barry and Murray go at it after Barry finally learns the truth following a near death experience involving a smothering of puppy kisses is hilarious.

Scientists predict that the human footprint on the planet may cause the loss of half of the world’s species by the end of the century. They believe we have entered the sixth major extinction in Earth’s history, following the fifth great extinction which took out the dinosaurs. Our era is called the Anthropocene, or “Age of Man,” because evidence shows that humanity has sparked a cataclysmic change of the world’s natural environment and animal life. Yet, we are the only ones who can stop the change we have created.

NBC Renews Freshman Drama Series Blindspot for a Second Season

NBC Renews Freshman Drama Series Blindspot for a Second Season 14

Blindspot has quickly become one of my favorite TV shows this fall, and for good reason. It is chock full of suspense, intrigue, riveting story lines and dialogue, and terrific acting, especially by its stars Sullivan Stapleton and Jaimie Alexander. The pressure is on when two cross-town rival teams from New Jersey are given the chance to work with the world’s best coaches and face off in weekly competitions, crescendoing in a champion sing off. Vocal powerhouse Deke Sharon (Pitch Perfect) will stop at nothing to get his team, Stay Tuned from Cherry Hill, to come out of their shells and get them in-tune while a cappella rock-star and performance coach Diana Preisler (Blue Jupiter) guides The Voices from Allendale, to harmonize their way to a win.

Grimm – “Clear and Wesen Danger” Review. Looks Can Be Deceiving.

Grimm – “Clear and Wesen Danger” Review. Looks Can Be Deceiving. 16

This season of Grimm is proving to be quite interesting so far. While some plot points are predictable, particularly in “Clear and Wesen Danger,” the main story line involving the so-called “Wesen uprising” is more cloaked, making it difficult to discern where the writers are taking us. Is it just me or does something feel different about this season? I can’t quite put my finger on it; however, it leans heavily on the ominous side of things. I like it…a lot actually. “Clear and Wesen Danger” feels dark, like something terrible lurks nearby…and it’s not just the “Quijada Vil,” the scary new Wesen we meet.
